He now looks like a concentration camp survivor and it's heartbreaking. It's bad enough my dad has to be in a care home but they take him in and make him look horrible and nothing like my dad on the first day! it was not their place to do this. Edited to add: this is the next day and I called over there to let them know I'll be coming over to visit my dad. The lady in charge, Cynthia, LAUGHED at me when I said I'd like to talk to her in person about them shearing all my dad's hair off of his head yesterday. She LAUGHED at me like my concern was a JOKE to her. When Cynthia answered the phone I thought I had misdialed because she answered with just a "hello" and was chewing food at the same time. Very unprofessional! So it appears now I can only visit my dad at a place that laughs at the family's concerns. As of right now my father has only been there less than 24 hours and I wish we had him back at home.

Important issues, like resident care and safety, are often overlooked. The management team is unresponsive Despite several attempts to address these issues, nothing seems to improve. Administrator does not return phone calls. Staffing shortages are a constant problem, and it directly affects the quality of care my Aunt facing. In some instances, I've noticed a lack of follow-through on promises made, which is very frustrating when it comes to the well-being of our loved ones. They said "not to worry" about having to rush my mother's belongings out of the room the day she passed away (which I specifically asked-- so I wouldn't incur extra charges).. --But they charged me $140 a day for every one of the 3 days that her furniture was still there. And even charged me for an extra day--after I had moved everything out. To add insult to injury, they had the gall to invoice me for $14-- for an AC adapter they said was missing. That small amount, which they could have easily written off as a business expense, was so important to them, it was totally unfeeling and disgusting. I feel bad for her caregivers, who are good people, but there are plenty of other board and care homes to choose from. I am sorry I didn't see the huge red flag from the get-go.

My super Dad, who will be 90 soon, is the main reason she's still around and healthy. But he just survived a mild stroke and physically, he's not as strong as my Mom. As their children, we spent a lot of time helping them but with dementia, it's a very difficult and emotionally exhausting ordeal to handle. We were beyond lucky to have found J&M Home care service; especially Susan. Susan is a super bright lady who has a deep sense of compassion, empathy, patience and the knowledge of the disease. Within a couple months under Susan's care, both my parents' health have improved significantly. My Mom seems so much happier and those moments of her feeling frustrated and feared have reduced significantly. With My Mom's health improving, it has helped my Dad and the rest of us feeling so much lighter and happier. What special about Susan is that, even though my Mom speaks mainly Vietnamese and Susan speaks English, the love, care, understanding and compassion Susan has for my Mom overcomes any language barrier. That advice was 99% true. The 1% where it wasn't true was J&M Homecare Services. Constance was truly empathetic to our Friday night plight, and came over early on Saturday morning to assess our needs. She was caring and compassionate and really wanted to help us. She guided me through the process and the forms. They clearly have experience working with Long Term Care insurance companies and have an easy to follow process to help you get reimbursed. She immediately reached out to her scheduling team and I received a call that afternoon trying to schedule someone for the very next day. By then we were scrambling and had found help through a family friend, but still needed someone for Monday. On Sunday their scheduling expert had found someone for Monday. They worked during the weekend to try and fulfill our needs and the four other companies we tried calling on Friday all said they'd talk to us on Monday. Monday came and our provider was great. My mother was in the final stages of the dying process and our aide helped us clean, bathe and dress her without a second thought. My mother passed peacefully soon after. Watching a loved one pass on in front of you is a very emotionally trying experience, but having last minute help made an unbearable situation feel slightly less horrible. I had only one short experience with the person who came to care for my loved one, but the effort the company put forth fulfilling our needs at the last minute on the weekend feels like an industry exception. I would absolutely recommend J&M Homecare Services.
