This may be the best run hotel I've been to. And this chain may be my favorite for business travel. The rooms were spacious, there was a good separation between the sleeping space and the working space, the bathroom was a good size. The only complaint is the pillows were flat and lifeless. Add a few good pillows to the room and this is easily 5-Star all the way. The staff here was absolutely amazing. Check-in was good, even with a computer switch to a new system that day. Breakfast was good and the attendants were friendly and wiping down tables and keeping everything full and tidy. The cleaning guy was absolutely killing it. I wish I got his name, but he was friendly and he was cleaning floors, emptying trash, and even shining the stainless steel inside the elevators. Keep it up, and thanks for the tip on keeping my stainless at home shiny! If I'm ever in Roanoke, VA again, this will be my first choice to stay again. And I hope they have better pillows next time. read more

Staying the Springfield Marriott suites in Roanoke Virginia. The hotel rooms are exquisite and so is the food in the dining room. The accommodations are a little pricey however we are on vacation so we don't mind. We have had mostly great experiences at various Marriotts across the country and prefer them to hiltons and days inn. The hotel is beautiful and very well kept. I highly recommend this facility to anyone in the Roanoke Virginia area. read more

Look, this place I knew and beautiful and the rooms are super nice and large. BUT.. if you are a side sleeper- I wouldn't stay here. The beds are the firmest I've ever slept on. I can barely move and I only slept there for about 6 hours. Hard as the floor. If you like that - then pick this one! The price is unbeatable. But be warned! It's a hard bed. read more

I really enjoyed this hotel. I've stayed here a few times for work and it has been consistently good. The front desk staff are friendly and accommodating. There is a free shuttle and an amazing bus driver, Jim who goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. The rooms are spacious and clean. There is covered and lot parking for free. A fruit infused water station in the lobby. Local and restaurant guides in the front to discover what is around town. Housekeeping comes every day. I travel a lot for work. Things definitely are different after Covid. This is the first hotel I've been to in a while where I had zero issues my entire stay. Everything worked, was clean and comfortable, and fairly quiet. We'd been on the road all day and hit more traffic than we'd expected. My three year old was definitely ready to be out of the car. Roanoke offered quite a few options as far as hotels go. So I called a few of the brands I prefer, including this one. This place offered us the best rate with my mom's senior discount. And I'm so glad we came here! The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful. They set aside and even brought up the pack n play we'd requested. I was also able to snag an extra thick blanket for her. My little girl and I enjoyed the swimming pool. It's small, but not only did we have the place to ourselves, but it was so nice and WARM!! Loved it!! We got a room with two Queen beds. There was also a half wall to separate the beds from the couch and second TV. We put my daughter's pack n play over here so we wouldn't keep her awake. It was perfect! Our room was definitely clean and comfortable! Lastly, what a great hot breakfast! Scrambled eggs, Turkey sausage, pork sausage, coffee, tea, oatmeal, milk, yogurt, fruit cups, bananas, granola bars and I'm sure there's something else I haven't listed. Great location, fun lobby, clean hotel, comfortable beds. Love the large mirror in the bedroom. My parents were both born in Knoxville, Tennessee. My mom recently moved back. Me living in the Washington DC suburbs, we decided Roanoke as a weekend girls trip was perfect as it is half way between both. I found SpringHill Suites by Google. So glad it was the 1st hotel to pop up. The location is great. Not too far off of the highway. Mall and restaurant are a quick 6 minute drive. I booked us a suite, perfect size rooms for 4 of us. King beds were so comfortable as most Marriott beds are. Management was friendly. We had an issue with our remote as the last guest left their gaming remote and took the hotel television remote. Maintenance was up within minutes with a new remote. Hotel has a cute heated pool, fun bar in the lobby. Great Girls Weekend had by all! read more

When you are going through tough times it's great to have a great place like this. My family had to be close to the hospital a half mile from this hotel and this made the experience a little easier. Natashia at the front desk was an Angel. She helped me coordinate the rooms I needed and kept the family next door to each other. She had a great smile and personality but was efficient and made the process smooth. With her recommendations I was able to grab food for the family and get it in their rooms and return to the hospital. When bad things happen it is nice to have something like this to remember. The rooms were excellent. Well maintained and incredibly accommodating. The entire hotel was impeccably clean. The shop was well stocked. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you! read more

Another great stay. the staff is great, and the lobby bar had a lively group that allowed a reprieve from just hunkering down in the room with a can of beer from 7/11. I have noticed this place goes pretty deep into decorations for holidays, maybe because of the guest using the hospital complex down the street? adds a bit of fun and whimsy to the trip. regardless one of my go-to spots as I travel the state for work, as the internet is stable. Bottom Line: Comfortable and clean hotel and great staff. I stay at Marriott properties often but my visit to Roanoke was the first time I stayed at a SpringHill Suites. I wasn't really sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised! My husband and I really enjoyed the spacious suite and if it was not for COVID we would have loved to enjoy the lobby bar and gym a little bit. Our room had a king size bed, a separate sitting area and a decent bathroom. There was also a mini-fridge and microwave. It was really nice to be able to sit somewhere other than on the bed to watch TV. And speaking of TV, I really appreciate that they have smart TVs so I can watch YouTube videos. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff adhered to COVID precautions. My only recommendation would be to put capacity constraints on the elevators. My husband and I were on the elevator coming down from the fifth floor when a family of four joined us which seemed a little tight for a pandemic. The gym is rather small so we decided to skip our workouts and walk outdoors instead. The property has an indoor pool as well but it was closed when I visited. Although not right in downtown Roanoke we still liked the location of the hotel and felt it was central to all of our planned activities. The hotel is only a a few miles from downtown Roanoke and parking in downtown is easy. From the hotel we also hit a restaurant in a nearby community, drove up to the Roanoke star and visited Black Dog Salvage and the Virginia Transportation Museum. All of these sites were convenient to this great hotel. And parking at the hotel was easy and convenient. Our stay at this SpringHill Suites was excellent and we particularly appreciated the professionalism of the staff! read more

TL:DR this hotel is awesome. Came here for one night before heading to Stone Mountain lake and, as per usual, did my requisite research. I called ahead and was told that I could check in earlier so I arrived around noon. Shout out to Ari for his hospitality and willingness to accommodate my early arrival. The hotel looks recently renovated with a beautiful open bar and lounge area. When I walked through the entrance, before getting to the front desk, I was greeted by a table with a sign asking me to "please disinfect with the sanitizer provided" and to wear a mask as per Virginia law. After disinfecting, I proceeded to the front desk where I was checked in with ease. They also had wipes at the front desk and a disinfecting station at the elevator. Once I got to my suite of a room, I immediately took a shower and jumped into bed, so I have no beautiful bed pics. However, I noticed that there was a hole in the closet door right next to the bed, so I notified the front desk and they immediately asked me if I wanted to me l move, I declined the offer and they sent someone up to take a picture to ensure that I wasn't penalized for it. However, had I known that there were mountain-facing views (from one of the other reviews), I probably would've acquiesced. Within 5 minutes, their maintenance guy was taking pics of the hole and confirming with me that I'm good. Since I've been cooped up since March, I decided to check out their bar, and while they didn't have brandy nor hypnotic, the bartender (I believe her name was Eileen) was very open-minded and enthusiastically made me some fascinating cocktails. I sat in the lounge area, with my mask on as required, and enjoyed the drinks with the beautiful mountains as a backdrop. I returned to my room and had a relaxing night of sleep. So to make this a long story short, I enjoyed my time here and look forward to my next visit. read more

Very clean and updated hotel. I travel quite a bit for work and have been underwhelmed lately with hotels around the country, in key cities, missing key functionality. With travel soon due to the pandemic, I get it. With this said, it's really nice to see that Roanoke would have this gem that stays ahead of the curve and insists quality. So today I checked into my room , I've got to get some sleep and I get in the shower turn around and I find a bunch of hair on the wall .. WTF is up with washing the walls . Nice hotel that I was told has been recently renovated. Nice spacious rooms with a pleasant atmosphere. Convenient to the local hospitals, and there is easy access to the Roanoke River Greenway through a park across the street. From here, it's not a great distance to the downtown area but it is still relatively quiet. I would stay here again in the future, especially as they complete the renovation. The front desk staff were especially accommodating. The one real knock on this place is the exercise room, but it looks like they intend more work on it. Right now it is too humid (doesn't seem to be a good deal in the door to the pool area as it smells strongly like chlorine) and the AC is not up to snuff (I tried to cool it down at the wall thermostat to no avail). And while the cardio equipment looks to be in good shape (I didn't use it because I was hiking in the area), they were missing dumbbells between 5 and 30 lb. and the balance balls were going flat. This may have been a particularly deflating because I had just come from another Marriott property that had one of the best exercise areas that I had seen for a hotel that size. On the upside, this property had plenty of room (literally) in which to make its improvements. I suspect it will be much better the next time I am in the area. read more

While the rooms themselves are nice, the amenities leave a lot to be desired. Breakfast was probably the most pitiful spread I've seen. We have been on a 10 day drive coast to coast staying at various Marriott offerings and every single other spot had hot options. This one barely had cereal & juice. ‍ The laundry is also not adequate for a hotel of this size. Only one washer and one dryer costing $1.50 a load. Then the dryer took two full cycles to get things *almost* dry. This may not matter for every visitor but it is a turn off for us for sure. read more

I received a discount through an organization for a one night stay, which made it reasonable for my budget. The hotel has just been renovated. The lobby is spacious, modern looking, with large windows and a variety of couches, armchairs, and coffee tables. The suites have a good layout, a little less spacious than the other Marriott suites I've stayed, but sufficient for 1-2 guests. Bed is comfortable. If able, ask nicely for a view of the Mill Mountain so you can see (part of) the star that lights up at night. Service was great. I had to call front desk a couple of times and they immediately resolved any issues that I had. Breakfast leaves much to be desired. And I'll have to agree with others that the garage still needs a bit more work. Overall a great place to stay in Roanoke! read more

Enjoyed my stay here. Hotel is located near downtown Roanoke and Mill mountain. Plenty of outside parking and they also have garage parking. Check in was easy through the Marriott app. I was greeted by the staff when I walked in and they seemed friendly. My room was spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The breakfast wasn't anything special. They had your regular eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. The bacon was paper thin, so I would maybe skip it next time. Overall though I enjoyed my stay and would recommend. read more

Nice property convenient to SW business, attractions and healthcare. Second stay with another booked for April. Guess you can say I'm sold. Room, missing desk chair, was clean and comfortable. WiFi easy to connect to my devices. That speaks volumes. TVs excellent as I binged on Chicago PD. All good. Now on to the lobby bar. I had my heart set on my hometown based BBQ joint just minutes away in Roanoke. After 300 miles of driving, I decided to peruse the lobby bar which is rare for this footprint. The only other SHS bar I know is Holloway's in Chicago. Ashley was barkeeper for the evening and I settled for a couple of Port City Porter draughts, boneless chicken bites and the Blue Ridge Burger. The beers were as good as Guinness. Sacrilege, I know, to my Irish friends.The boneless bites? There were too many for an appetizer: thickly breaded but pretty good. The burger was fine. Cooked as ordered. With bacon. Cheese. Lettuce. Tasty and a little messy. The kettle chips were decent. Shocked to find a tax rate of nearly 15% on the tab, total with tip, $51.00. A little steep. Maybe the bbq would've been better as far as my expense account is concerned. Regardless, right place at the right time. And enjoyable. Recommend the bar bistro! Breakfast? Second time visiting but did not remember the AC being quite so loud. WiFi was okay. Friendly staff, good parking underneath the hotel for my motorcycle. We went to this hotel and spent one night here. One of the things I loved about it was the staff and their willingness to make things right. There was some minor things that they quickly resolved. I loved using their app to communicate with them. The room had a very upscale look and our family of 5 was comfortable. I also liked their variety in their breakfast, it definitely filled me up. My kids tried out the swimming pool but did say it was on the small side and not deep. There was some sounds of kids running around perhaps on the floor above us, which was a little annoying, but I can't fault the hotel for that. I would love to come back again! I would give 4 stars however the building is going through significant renovation. The rooms have been renovated but not the lobby and lounge. The garage parking is a little wonky and not designed for any larger vehicles. The front door drive up is very tight and you have to pull around, back up then you may be able to make the loop. Would not advise a truck to use. The desk attendant was indifferent or was having a bad day but the rest of the staff through the hotel was friendly. The location is awesome. Less than 5 min to get to downtown Roanoke and basically across the street from Roanoke regional hospital and the VT medical arts school. Quiet area and great location under Mill Mountain. read more

I have been staying here for business. Last week and this week and to be quite honest even though it looks "nice" because of whatever renovations I honestly have had better rooms from lesser hotels. First room - bugs. Little flies everywhere. I killed 5-7 in the three nights I stayed. Second room - mirror not clean, supplies missing, and the kicker? My blanket. My freaking blanket had what i believe are boogers all over one of the corners. That means... yes. It WAS NOT CHANGED. I am ABSOLUTELY LIVID. I called the front desk and they were sending me another one. It has been about 10 minutes. I am absolutely disgusted. Whoever cleaned this room should be reprimanded. This is inexcusable. Bodily fluid is too dangerous to mess with and I am appauled this was in my room. I should not have to call the front desk so my booger covered blanket from the previous guest is taken care of. I am letting my business know never to use this hotel again. I am extremely disappointed and very upset. Bugs and Booger Blankets are ridiculous for such a high priced hotel. Just wanted to leave a shout-out to the SpringHill Suites hotel. Their COVID precautions are way better than the restaurants around the area. While ofc, I still bought my own bleach wipes to clean the remote, the bathroom and other surfaces and top sheet to place on the sofa, I was still glad that Marriott has taken several of the precaution below: 1. The bathrooms in the lobby have foot pulls so that you don't need to utilize the handles. 2. Hand sanitzer is everywhere. Its thank fully in the ground floor garage where we could bring our bikes in and by the elevator and throughout the lobby. 3. They had a huge thing of Purrell wipes so that you can pull one out to open the small refrigerator during breakfast. 4. Thankful that housekeeping didn't come in at all during our stay. We had everything we need in to the room and I just asked them for extra cups and Keurig coffee pods in the morning. 5. Room upon entry was clean. No stray hairs anyways. Bathroom was clean as well. 6. Water pressure was very good! We didn't have to wait in the bathroom at all. 7. Netflix in the room worked! 8. Note the amenities are closed - so no pool, no outdoor patio, and limited bar hours. 9. I accidentally made only a 2 day reservation and the hotel worked with me to extend our stay by a day (whoops!) seamlessly and didn't charge me inappropriate surcharges or make us change rooms. Now that is service! I never felt unsafe from super crowds and nighttime was quiet for us. Morning was a little noisy, but was manageable. We would consider staying here again. The breakfast was still included and I think it was decent for COVID times and the fact that the hotel industry is losing money. They have a morning selection of a hot entrée that you need to request the hotel employee bring you. I greatly appreciated the warm option. First day was a sausage morning patty thing which according to hubby was horrid. Second day, plenty of eggs and bacon upon request and oatmeal was available too. Third day had waffles, eggs and oatmeal which was very good. The refrigerator holds single servings of milk cartons, hard boiled eggs, orange juice, apple juice and there's granola on the breakfast bar to go with the refrigerated yogurt. I definitely appreciated the to go packets of Nutella. Tip to navigate the city if you are there Mon - Fri - We took a free trolley from the hotel to downtown and it was empty all the time. The closest stop is across the hotel in front of the outpatient hospital clinic. Day one we needed to replenish some supplies and went to Breadcraft downtown for fresh baguettes and daily sandwiches in case you want to get breakfast and supplement lunch. Finally for those who are mountain bikers, check at the adjacent Mill Mountain to warm up before driving over to Carvins Cove - it is definitely bikable from the hotel, though the uphill climb was strenuous. We took the Monument trail coming down and please note, you need to bring your knee pads plus or minus elbow pads if you plan to go fast. It was extremely rocky compared to Maryland trails! We specifically choose this hotel to make sure that we could store our bikes in the room. read more

This place was great. Rooms were nice with 2 TVs and very comfortable beds. I gave it 3 stars because of the breakfast. There were barely any options. The Kinston hotel I went to had triple the options. They needed more variety besides cereal and pastries. It's ridiculous. I am very disappointed their grab and go breakfast. For as nice as everything else was, they could have done better. Also they don't enforce the mask rule and stop someone without a mask unless someone goes up to the staff and tell them! That's ridiculous and an issue that needs to be address. Otherwise the stay was great. read more

This was a great hotel. I try to stay at a Marriott property whenever possible and this location was up there. The room was well designed and had a great work station. The rooms were very quiet and comfortable with no outside or next door noise that you may get at other hotels. Didn't use the fitness center or free breakfast this time around, but the amenities looked spot on. All in all great stay, will be back. read more

I checked in the 22nd of december 2022, and i requested my right to depart at 4pm, i am entitled by MARRIOTT terms and conditions that TITANIUM members have COMPULSORY 4pm check out ( except convention center and resorts but towneplace is not one of these) and the front desk said ok ( i dont know her name, nobody has a tag on their shirt, pretty unprofessional) next day somebody knocked my door at 9am, and then around 11am and again at 12.43pm and this time i opened the door... it was housekeeping asking to clean the room... i went to reception and i talked to the same front desk who checked me in previous day. She said as a courtesy they can do 1pm check out because i am a TITANIUM MARRIOTT MEMBER. I discussed for 5 minutes saying that it s compulsory a 4 o clock check out. She said that they are fully booked ( not true, many rooms available to book, i double checked that). I said i will call Marriott, she replied, i dont care. I called Marriott Loyalty team from titanium members, Marriott employees certified and explained to her when i was on speakers in front of her that IT IS COMPULSORY 4 OCLOCK. Do i have to threaten u to call Marriott and u accept late check out when they force u only? Rude, unprofessional and horrible service. Another girl told me her name is GIANNA. She kept on discussing about 1pm even after she heard people from Marriott headquarter. The other receptionist tried to make it easy and she said, ok... u can stay I'll 4pm. it s not acceptable to be playing games and threaten to call loyalty team to do what she needed to do from the beginning. Management of this hotel please teach URGENTLY your employees your rules because even if you are a franchise, you MUST COMPULSORILY follow Marriott policies. I even received an email from Marriott customer service apologizing and they sent an email to the hotel explaining the rules. Because they woke me up at 9am ( i was dealing with Chinese people that's why i dont sleep during the night and i beg hills to let me check out late and that's why i spent thousand and thousands of dollars on Marriott properties to have a higher status to check out at 4) and i was planning to get my flight at 8pm but i overslept and i missed the flight. They compensated the second night that i wasn't planning staying there because my reservation was for a night only. read more

I was so impressed with the bartender, main front desk staff and housekeeping! Very safe, they scrubbed everything down after each guest. We had a small issue with our room and housekeeping was there in less than five mins! Would stay here again and feel safe doing so. read more

Hotel is still under renovations but they don't have that stated on their webpage! The site says it's a newly renovated hotel which is a lie. It's a renovation in progress. In addition, I had their free breakfast with someone else's hair in my eggs! I called to have my credit card information switched to another card and spoke with the sales manager. These items were reported to her. I was told sorry about that we will try to do better and we know our website doesn't state we are under construction but we are not allowed to post that information for customers there.
