Parking is free and plentiful--there's a parking lot behind the house, but we chose to park on the street and were able to find a spot directly in front of the inn every time. Liz greeted us outside when we arrived, welcomed us warmly, and helped with our bags. We stayed in the Hydrangea Room upstairs, which was spotless and beautifully appointed. Every detail had been thoughtfully curated. The room had everything we needed while still feeling uncluttered and relaxing. One of our favorite features was the second-floor porch, where we enjoyed our morning coffee and a glass of wine each evening. The inn is located in a residential historic district, just a short walk from downtown. We felt completely safe walking to dinner every night. Liz is a wealth of knowledge and provided excellent recommendations for restaurants and local activities. Each morning, we were offered a selection of creative breakfast specials. She's an exceptional cook and baker, and every meal was delicious. I especially appreciated her commitment to sustainability without sacrificing the upscale experience you expect from a luxury bed and breakfast. One final note: Liz took over the inn a couple of years ago, so any older reviews criticizing the innkeeper refer to the previous owner--not Liz. She is an absolute gem, and her warmth and hospitality made our stay truly memorable. We will absolutely stay here every time we visit Roanoke.

Operated under the Hilton brand, the hotel is currently owned by Virginia Tech. The mammoth facility has a Conference Center suitable for hosting large conventions, including banquet rooms, meeting rooms and guest rooms. Hotel Roanoke was the site of a large convention that I was a part of for many years. Serving as Vice Convention Chair for several years, I found the staff extremely easy to work with in both the planning and the event itself. Serving as Convention Pianist prior to that I found the pianos well tuned and positioned as requested. Checking in was easy even with the large amount of arriving guests. A special check in desk was available for Hilton Honors members, along with the appropriate amenities provided. Guest rooms were comfortable and roomy. Banquet meals were excellent and as requested. Dining was also available in different areas for meals not in the Conference Center. Check out for large groups was handled well. The years that I served as State Treasurer, the Convention billing was detailed and handled with efficiency, allowing both myself and the Finance Chairman to assure its accuracy. Should you visit Roanoke either a stay or visit to Hotel Roanoke is a must.

To keep it short and sweet, I had checked in and walked to my room and immediately was moved to another room due to an infestation of ants. I thought that was disgusting considering they were coming from the walls and coming out the outlets. The breakfast is a sorry excuse for a meal. The eggs look like hockey pucks and seem like they come frozen and just heated up in a microwave. The apple juice was fantastic. I would have probably stayed there if it wasn't for one of the staff disrespecting my fellow co workers regarding ants in their room, blaming them for the ants because they had snacks in their room when CLEARLY it's an issue within the hotel. They did not feel comfortable with the fact that they were not given an option to switch rooms like I did rather have a staff member come to spray CHEMICALS in an enclosed area all over their room with personal belongings inside. Mind you, The spray didn't do anything at all. The ants continued to appear. Be mindful when booking here unless like ants. Then they had the nerve to charge us a check out early fee expecting us to stay in an infested "hotel". Hotel staff is aware of ants and brush off complaints saying "i built my house in 2019 and i have ants in my kitchen". Unacceptable

And although we were expecting no frill we were not expecting how dirty it was. The pull out bed sheets were ripped, tattered and stained. The double beds, although the sheets seemed nice and new, had multiple hairs on them the moment we pulled the sheets back. The fridge cabinet was super dirty and gross. Even my kids were grossed out and did not want to stay. The hallway also had a weird funky smell and was very dimly lit. You get what you pay for, but cleaning really could be improved for the health of all.

Despite Do Not Disturb signs and verbally telling the front desk not to enter, hotel staff accessed our rooms multiple times without permission. In my room and another family member's room, the TV remote had been swapped or tampered with. In another room, a wedding ring was stolen, and a police report was filed. A letter about "artwork installation" was slipped under our doors--but only after rooms were already entered. Even after we asked in person for no one to enter, staff came in again. This hotel showed no respect for privacy or safety. We felt violated and completely ignored. Avoid staying here until they take accountability and change their practices.

When we arrived at the hotel one of the staff members, Guilherme G., informed me that reservation agents are unable to make those kinds of reservations because they were unaware of the hotel's current capacity and there was nothing he could do to help us because the hotel was completely booked. So why are we required to make reservations through a reservation agent when we call the hotel? In my case, it was a waste of time and a total disappointment. I ended up with my family separated, half on one end of the second floor and the other half on the other side. We didn't have a good experience at all.
