I stay at Marriott's all over the country, and I have to say that EVERYONE there went above and beyond to make the guests happy and feel noticed. From check-in to maid service and breakfast, what a nice, friendly helpful group of people. Even during construction( which I never heard), they were lovely. Even lent me an umbrella when it was pouring! I did have one of the newer rooms and they are lovely. Beds are comfy, and suite is well laid out. If there was one improvement needed, the hot water takes forever to get hot. That's it. I look forward to returning soon. Thank you again for making a difficult trip easier. read more

** Update** The manager called me after my email and personally apologized for the condition of the room and offered a generous discount on my bill. I still suggest staying away until the construction is complete, but i feel the manager - James Carlson - was professional and an apology goes a long way. ** Construction (not mentioned on website), this is our bathroom (but they can't clean it or relocate us), no WiFi, no tv (during entire stay), an ironing board it took both of us to get to work, no restaurant, no bar, awoken at 6:15 AM with sun streaming in window (no room darkening shade)... this is a Marriott property ?!?! We were here for a wedding on the property (my sister-in-law was told construction and reno would be completed by wedding date) so changing hotels wasn't an option. do not stay in this hotel until they are fully renovated. They are renovating the hotel one floor at a time starting with the third floor and the condition in my bathroom in particular was gross. Have stayed here a few times when in the area. Cida @ breakfast is a treasure, Patricia, and Katelynn do a great job at the front desk. My room is paid for when I stay, so I can't complain too much. They have the absolute weirdest bed pillows I've ever seen in a hotel, or anywhere! Room for my last stay was missing the closet door, sheet window curtains, and housekeeping left the floor lamp askew. Was told the hotel is soon to undergo a complete renovation. Hope they get better bed pillows! Looking forward to seeing the new look! read more

This is a very convenient location to the fields at Devens fields. Overall it's a fine place but I was disappointed with my stay as one of the rooms had a crack in the bathroom which was infested with ants. They did not have complimentary toiletries, and were out of extra pillows. The towels were raggedy and had strings hanging off of it. read more

We stayed for the weekend and were pleased with our room. Our room was very spacious and clean. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast which is fine. We were able to use their fitness center. They essentially had two thanks and an elliptical machine with a set of dumbbells and a bench. The gym was small but at least I was able to get a decent workout in. The room was super comfortable, it had a sofa, desk area to work at along with a mini kitchen set up. We definitely enjoyed our stay and would use it again. read more

Well kept hotel to spend a night in the area. Room was acceptably clean, bed was comfortable and staff was pleasant. Springhill Suites is what I view as the economy version of the Marriott hotel chain and the room amenities and room decor match that description. Janky but functional shower with low pressure, vinyl stucco walls and beige and yellow color scheme. Complimentary breakfast was well stocked, small (very small) pool was open and fitness room was basic but functional. We had a king bed suite with is really a bedroom with a half wall partition with a pull out sofa. Lots of room and could easily accommodate four people if privacy is not a concern. Our second time staying for a volley ball tournament over in Fitchburg. We'll be back. read more

Let me just start by saying I'm not really a fan of Springhill Suites hotels. I've had some bad experiences in the past and this one was one of those times. They just don't seem to care about maintaining their rooms. The water takes forever for it to get hot, the shower curtain rod is falling off the wall (notice how in the picture it leans so bad you can't even pull the shower curtain to the walls), the closet door is off the track and my favorite is the "master" switch. On my third day here, I go into my room and none of the lights will turn on. I think the power is out in my room and go down to the front desk to report it. They call the maintenance guy, he goes up to my room with me and I notice the "master" switch is down. He says, there's your problem. Like I'm supposed to know that controls all the lights. This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a hotel room. Why would you ever need to turn off all the lights with one switch? They should remove that switch, might help them avoid a bunch of calls about the power being out. read more

I am a Titanium Elite Marriott member which means that I don't stay anywhere else except under the Marriott brands. I have been travelling all over the world and this hotel is by far the worst hotel from my personal experiences. I have attached pictures to the room that they call "after serviced" and "cleaned" room. I actually talked to the housekeeper to do my room before I left the hotel. And this was what I got when I walked into the room at 5 pm. I got nothing except new towels!! I was supposed to stay here for five nights, but I had to leave and find a new hotel. read more

This is a nice place, but due to Covid they are not making your bed on the regular and they might come in and take your trash and give you towels. Thing is on our last night we had run out of Kleenex and had very little tp. We had enough but it was just odd because someone came in and did not notice it? Maybe I should have called the front desk. The room was nice and the bed comfortable the set up for the room was a little wonky but whatever. Thé breakfast they have downstairs is basically breads you can toast, cereals, fruits, hard boiled eggs, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, milk, coffee, tea and oj. If you need a pop or whatever they have a little store but they have no other food available like a bar or something. Also be aware that this area Devens is near nothing other that the Army Base Ft. Devens. If you want to go to downtown Boston they have no Uber/Lyft available and taxi service is a complete joke. Sure you could walk the 1.3 miles to the train but why should you? Have someone drop you off or whatever. My second trip to thé city after I tried in vein to get a ride was a mess and luckily the Assistant GM gave me a ride to the train. So be aware. They have a pool and a business center. It's pretty quite but if we come back here I'll have to figure more things out transportation wise. read more

Very disappointing stay. Room was a mobility room to assist in bathing and ability to move around that is in a town with a Service base (Fort Devens) and a college nearby (Fitchburg State). When I was checking out I was told the parent company, Marriott, was supposed to upgrade the entire hotel in November but it didn't and they were told not to fix individual rooms. This showed. The room I was given was in awful shape and at $220 a night it upset me. I am not posting the pictures I took. Maybe later. They did reduce the charge but I feel like it should have been comped. A nice place to stay if you have something in this area. This area is not really convenient to Boston or most attractions in Massachusetts. My husband had business in the area and I tagged along with the kids. Although this hotel is fairly new it looks and feels very old. The hotel overall was very clean though. We had a room with two queen beds and a pull out sofa. The room was adequate for five of us but could've been a bit more spacious. The toilet had hardly any pressure and got clogged on us a couple of times during our stay. There is really not much in this area besides Fort Devens. It looks like they are still adding stores around the hotel. There is a Dunkin Donuts, pizza place and grill within the same complex. On thing to note here. Fort Devens is still an active military base that does reserves training. One morning I was woken up at the crack of dawn to the sounds of reveille. Clean and reasonably priced. There was a large gathering of people in the lobby until about midnight who were making noise, drinking alcohol, making a mess and preventing us from getting to sleep. When we spoke with the front desk they were unhelpful and the problem continued. Other guests were in the halls yelling at the people to quiet down. In the morning at checkout, the associate did not ask how our stay was, so we told him. When we shared the concerns we had, we did not feel like he was sympathetic to the unacceptable situation the previous night. We are a Marriott family but we will not be staying at this location again. read more

Clean and Sufficient I stayed here recently for the night. The front desk staffing was very nice. They were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and the hotel itself was clean, well appointed, and maintained well. Typical Springhill floorplan, and convenient to several highways. A Dunkin' Donuts, and gas station with convenience store are within walking distance. If we're ever in the area I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend to anyone visiting nearby. My family just checked in and when we opened the door to room we were meet with the smell of backed up sewage. It was absolutely pungent. When we went to the front desk to ask for a new room there was another family that was adjacent to our room there to complain about the smell as well. They described it as the same sewage smell. The front desk told us both to just try and run the water for 5 minutes and the smell will go away and handed us a spray bottle of bleach to spray down the drain. Didn't work at all. Then we went to use the pull out couch and the fitted sheet was not the right size, which happens, but then when we go back to the front desk to ask for another one and they hand use a "new" sheet that had a big stain of god knows what right in the center of it. This hotel gets a 2 star and that is generous for the absolutely disgusting smell in the rooms and the lack of the front desk to find us a new room or offer another solution besides handing us a bottle of bleach. read more

This hotel is probably the worst Marriott hotel that I've been to. In the Deven, MA area there's this hotel and the Hilton hotel. During my first 2 weeks here I stayed at the Hilton hotel and for my return trip I decided to give this hotel a try and it really was a big disappointment. First off the hotel is really old so the walls are paper thin but I didn't know this until my stay was finished. You can hear your neighbors conversation and that's a deal breaker for me since I'm a light sleeper. I gave the room a try for the first night then in the AM I can hear my neighbors phone alarm going off for 15 min straight. It was a catchy Japanese song but that's no bueno when I'm still trying to sleep and it's 7am. I went downstairs to speak with the front desk person and they moved me with no problem. YAY! So I was thinking I'd be in a room that's much more quite then my original room but I was wrong. I could hear everything and I mean everything. Called the front desk and the person on the phone told me that YES the walls are thin and that's just the way it is. I was just in shock and couldn't believe this. I honestly have never stayed in a Marriott hotel this worn down. I don't recommend this hotel, so if you're in the area stay at the Hilton across the street. read more

This is my third time staying at this hotel. Generally the rooms are cleanish. This time, that was not the case. The room was not cleaned and during covid the rooms are not cleaned each night. There was a dirty facecloth hanging in the shower. Kids finger prints all over the night stands and the tv. Stains on the sheets are nauseating. read more

The staff was pleasant enough but wow was this hotel rundown. It was also the weirdest layout of a room. We had a blood stain on the carpet, mirrors being held together with scotch tape and more. If all you need is a place to sleep before moving on and require nothing more it's ok. Bed was clean but sorta slouched in the center, one tv in the room that could not be seen from second bed unless you squint. There's empty usable space on the wall across from beds but only one tv that has to be turned in either the living room area or bedroom, weird. The Springhill Suites is really the only closest place in Devens to stay. Blessing that it is a Marriott and is clean and kept up. There are two buildings next to each other. One that is the hotel and the other which is primarily for meetings and conferences. The people there are very helpful and accommodating and I really think it speaks to the area. For such a little town that does claim most of the business (for now since it is starting to grow) they don't have a "we own the place" attitude. Located in the Devens Common there is not much to choose from but just a stone throw away is a Dunkin Donuts, Gas Station, Dry Cleaner, Pizza Place, and restaurant, The Devens Grille. Beds like rocks, very old. Rugs are super dirty with stains. The place is large and has so much potential but feels like motel 6 level but for $150 a night. The front desk staff was very nice as was housekeeping. It just seriously needs a good cleaning and a bit of a facelift. See attached pictures of bathroom (torn wall paper and what is extremely disgusting dirt (not sure if mold) in bathroom but it could be cleaned it grossed me out and a couple strains of bugs were crawling along that dirty grout (only saw two bugs but if clean they most likely would be there). We stayed here for a week while visiting family in the area. The property was well kept and the room clean. Zach at the front desk was helpful when we checked in at 2 am. The breakfast was ok and the area well maintained by attentive staff. Best of all were the housekeepers, Kim and her sister! Friendly, welcoming and very good at their jobs. Jim Carlson, asst manager came banging on my door. I said I was not appropriate as I just got out of the shower. he banged louder and demanded I open it. Apparently the children (80% of the hotel is filled with kids for a tournament) we're playing ball in the hallway. he was upset. Though instead of handling it appropriately, he used intimidation. he had me in tears. Once I was dressed, I went down to lobby to address how he handled the situation, where he again, began to berate me in front of a lobby full of people. I feel disgusted, embarrassed and unsafe here. Stayed here for an event held at the Devens fields and needed something close by. This hotel sits on the inactive side of now closed and desolate Fort Deven's Army Base which at one time used to be one of the most active Army bases in Massachusetts. Now it is home to corporations and some Army Reserve units and this conference area, but mostly abandoned buildings and just a really ghost town like area. This hotel sits next to the Hilton Garden Inn and is newer just like the Hilton. It is a pretty nice hotel with an attached reception/conference facility for weddings. At the time we stayed there were 4 weddings going on here and I can imagine this place is pretty reasonably priced being out in the middle of nowhere. The rooms are pretty spacious and comfortable and if you are a rewards member like me, you get free upgrades upon arrival and also treats like free items from the Market pantry or double points. The staff here is pretty friendly and their continental breakfast was more than enough food with eggs, sausage and even homemade waffles. Prices were decent, a bit higher than you would expect being in the middle of nowhere but not bad for the newness of the place and space of the rooms. read more

1st of all we are here for a softball tournament. About 15 of us walk in at once (from various teams) & there is only ONE person working the front desk! She then proceeds to tell us housekeeping is only available Monday-Friday...so needless to say staying Friday-Sunday if we need towels, blankets, etc...we need to ask! The shower has barely ANY pressure & takes about 15 minutes to heat up! Not to mention the black mold on the shower curtain! Now day #2...it's now 10pm at night & a lacrosse team is now here. Young kids running up & down the hallway, yelling, knocking on doors! Above me sounds like a three ring circus & sounds like a herd of elephants stampeding down the hallway! I end up in Devens every now and then for business. I stayed once at this hotel and didn't ever again. Beat up room with paper-thin walls and a noisy HVAC system. Maybe this is standard for a Springhill Suites, but it's not typical Marriott level. The workout room was fine, but the adjacent pool room was a choking gas chamber of chlorine, which did nothing to remove the ring of black mildewy stuff from the handrail going down the steps. Yikes. No wintertime swim for me. Later stays have been at the Hilton Garden Inn across the square: much newer and in a lot better shape... though I never checked out the pool there. read more

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. This is perfect place for a family of 5. Really wish the hotel industry in general would provide heavier blankets though. This location is not maintained and kept up to Marriott standards. The reason I choose Marriott group is the cleanliness and maintenance. This location did not take pride in their location. Carpets were stained. The drain in the bathtub did not drain properly. After a short shower standing in ankle deep water. Overall not a good experience and will not stay again. read more

The downsides are the isolated location, loud, but effective, A/C unit, and I was next to the elevator which was very loud through my wall...ask for a room down the hall away from it. They have eggs, sausage, cereal, muffins, donuts, fruit, a waffle maker, croissants, orange juice, apple juice, milk, and there may be more that I do not remember. Coffee is available in the lobby 24/7. The staff is nice. I found my room clean on arrival. They pretty much had everything I need except for a stove and oven. I was not expecting a stove and oven, by the way. Housekeeping does a good job. I also had them do a little of my laundry. I found my clothes clean and pressed. At the moment it is a good place to stay. The lobby and rooms are clean. There was a better than expected breakfast every morning in the lobby. We didn't use the indoor pool or the small gym, but they also looked clean. I say at the moment because the construction is terrible.
