I decided to mix things up, staying here, rather than at my usual spot next door. Hotel is just about done being renovated. They've done a nice job in the common areas in the rooms. Now, they need to work on their staff! Person at the desk when I checked in was okay, but quite flat. Usually housekeeping staff at least acknowledges you when you pass them in the hallway. Not here. They don't even look your way, never mind say hello. The morning I checked out there wasn't anyone at the desk. Only employee I saw in the lobby area at check out was breakfast attendant that looked completely disinterested. Interesting that even as a gold or platinum member breakfast is not complimentary. You get a $10 voucher for the $12.95+ breakfast. Next door, breakfast is included for every guest, regardless of status. Overall, I found the renovated property nice, the hotel solidly built, but hotel staff lacking. Would I stay again when in the area, yes, but not my first choice.

Dried out and hardly any eggs available

This is not the quality of service one would expect at a Hilton. The initial bill was not in accordance with the confirmation rates and required adjustments. They adjusted the rates to the confirmation rates within two hours so I am fine with this. The rooms were clean. However, the breakfast costs $19. I have never seen such a poor breakfast buffet in my extensive travels. I have attached photos of the buffet. It was not a really busy time and for $19 this was a disgrace. The Canadian bacon was dry, hard and resembled dog jerky. For $19 a person, this should be a premiere buffet. The pastries we hard and dried out.

Bed bug

In my recent stay (11/9) I found an adult bed bug crawling next to me after adjusting pillows to watch television. The hotel offered to move me to another room on another floor. I didn't even get to check under the mattress in the new room (which I hadn't thought to do in the first room) because I saw a squished bug on the wall next to the bed and what appeared to be bed bug casings with larve on the tv stand across the room. Hilton Garden Inn was not overly happy to do anything other than offer me a third room. Took a lot to get my trip refunded. Would not consider assisting me (knowing I was there with my son for a competition the next morning as we discussed when moving us from the first room) in trying to get into another Hilton 20 minutes away or even move our belongings. I had to text pictures as proof of the issue for them to even consider refunding my trip where I was not comfortable staying. They were also checking others in WHILE dealing with me on this matter.

The promise that they keep!!!

I really didn't want to do this review and put a bunch of people on. But I had to. From the front desk staff to the maids!!! Everyone here was so welcoming!!! I've stayed at five star hotels and wasn't treated this nice. The rooms were very comfortable. The pool is open until 10. The pool isn't that big probably because of a city ordinance (meaning if it was any bigger they would have to have a life guard and it wouldn't be able to stay open until 10) the food was awesome and reasonably priced!!! Another cool fact is fort Devens is right next door!!! I'm a boy Mom and that's big points my son loves to look at army trucks.

This is the tap water - Never in 20+ years of travel have I seen this before.

Clean, well laid out hotel with plenty of amenities. The staff went above and beyond to welcome our family. Highly recommend.

From check-in to maid service and breakfast, what a nice, friendly helpful group of people. Even during construction( which I never heard), they were lovely. Even lent me an umbrella when it was pouring! I did have one of the newer rooms and they are lovely. Beds are comfy, and suite is well laid out. If there was one improvement needed, the hot water takes forever to get hot. That's it. I look forward to returning soon. Thank you again for making a difficult trip easier.

I still suggest staying away until the construction is complete, but i feel the manager - James Carlson - was professional and an apology goes a long way. ** Construction (not mentioned on website), this is our bathroom (but they can't clean it or relocate us), no WiFi, no tv (during entire stay), an ironing board it took both of us to get to work, no restaurant, no bar, awoken at 6:15 AM with sun streaming in window (no room darkening shade)... this is a Marriott property ?!?! We were here for a wedding on the property (my sister-in-law was told construction and reno would be completed by wedding date) so changing hotels wasn't an option. GM 'allowed' Bonvoy points vs room discount since I'm a Bonvoy member. Like that was compensation for all the issues?! I've stayed in motels with more amenities. Stay away ....

Parking was plentiful, and rooms were nice. The front desk staff were the most friendly of folks that I have ever encountered, and the breakfast options, which are included, were perfect to get the day started. There is a short trial behind this hotel that I really had hoped to be able to adventure into, but as I traveled in winter, daylight was limited. The only negatives of this hotel were the over hot heater and underhot shower temperatures. Perhaps folks don't have the same need as I do to scald my soul during showers, but alas, my California blood needs to boil to start my day. Overall, I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed less than 24 hours but I could easily spend a few days here without an issue. Fully stocked kitchen with a conventional oven and full size fridge. Basic kitchen ware and utensils. The complimentary breakfast was full of hearty and healthy options. Fantastic job by the staff keeping everything stocked and clean. My only issue was the two bedrooms were supposed to have two queens and one bedroom only had a full. I drew the short straw and got that bed but since sleeping solo, it wasn't a huge issue. BUT- I do think you should get the room with the amenities in your reservation. Staff was helpful, checking in was a breeze and the whole property was pretty spotless. I'd book again.

They have an area to buy some items…read more They have a restaurant only open for breakfast the buffet it's $12 or you can order off the menu. We did not have breakfast here we went elsewhere. I did go to the bar/dining area to get some food and have a cocktail. Depending on who cooks the food is actually pretty good. Drinks are made pretty well and the bartender/server was nice and the same person both days when I came down to get some nibbles. Now the rooms are pretty spacious but the lighting situation is fairly poor and unless you stay over two nights they won't be making the beds and etc. If you need more towels and etc call/ask them. (This is due to Covid/staffing issues) Now when we checked in we gave them both our information (name, phone, company info, cc) we got our keys and the wi-fi info When unfortunately I got locked out I had to go downstairs (luckily I was still dressed but no shoes) I understand for security purposes they have to ask you things but I had to go thru a lot to get an extra key. She asked me do you know the last four digits of the holders credit card? I was like what? I'm downstairs, shoeless, massless, no phone and you just saw me walk upstairs about a half hour ago? Whatever I had to tell her the name of the company, my husband's name, my name, our address, his phone number. She than said don't be mad ma'am it's for security purposes. I had a long ass day, I was tired, cranky and locked out of my room with no key and my husband is at a business event. This was ANNOYING. Than she sees me the next morning when we dropped off all the keys I told the original person who checked us in I had to get a third key as I was locked out and had to give them basically my unborn child's first name. I think she thought I was joking I told her I'm not and said I dealt with her. I'm grateful my husband was not around at this point as he than came by with his key and told them we are checking out of our room number and here's our keys. They give you a warmed cookie at check in... The view from our room was nice Down the street is a Home Goods, Marshall's and a Dollar tree and oh yea a BJ's down the street. If you want to go the Boston's North End you can go to Fitchburg and get the commuter train.. taco's are flat rate prices and cheaper than an Uber. The room, it's clean enough, bathroom shower stall is dated and also needs better lighting and more than 5 pieces of Kleenex in the box. The company got a rate.. if we had to come back here at least I know what I got to remember. When I come back to Boston on my own I'm gonna use AirbNb or whatever. Out of 5 stars 3.5 Some staff 5 stars Space about 3.5 This ain't the George V in Paris you are bringing up your own bags. Lots of parking

It was a wonderful place for our community to come together, be out of the city, and relax! Mary Helan was SOO very very helpful in for months in advance of the retreat, during the retreat and post retreat. She was wonderful to work with and extremely patient. As others mentioned there were no other options close by in the Harvard area to stay, so we decided to stay on site (even though I tried to find alternative arrangements). We arrived on Friday and found our room, which had only twin beds (the same for almost all rooms) but were yet to receive our linens (sheets/towels/pillow cases). We did get those later and as another reviewer mentioned they were very worn. You could also not bring in your own pillows or linens (as I had brought) and the party would be fined if they saw you doing so. The bathroom/showers which I saw were pretty outdated and dingy (except the ones near the front door which appear to be newer). They weren't unclean, but were just in desperate need of some TLC. We were also informed of a strict 5 minute shower policy which there are signs posted for in the bathroom. As most have said, it is very much a DIY venue, even so far as to washing your own dishes throughout the weekend. We did help out with a lot throughout the weekend which was fun helping our friends set up their wedding and be a part of it, but many times we would need to ask Mary or Keith (the owners of the property) for assistance or direction with a given task. Most of the time they were very friendly and helpful, but not all the time. I certainly understand they have a job to do, and tasks the Bride/Groom set up for them, and that helping me wasn't on their priority list, but at least be a little bit pleasant because we are paying you to be there. I would have to agree that the food they provided was excellent, and they were able to meet the needs of many dietary issues in our group. If I was reviewing only their food it would be 5 stars, no question. They used fresh ingredients and were very passionate about what came out of the kitchen. The other issue was the firewood. We were lectured that it was to be a "camp fire" and not a "bonfire". We were only provided with about 6 tiny pieces of wood to keep the fire going for our allotted 2 hours...and NO wood was to be put on after 11pm as the fire had to be completely out by midnight... It was nice to be able to just walk back to my room after the wedding/reception. The ceremony was beautiful set back under the trees on the lawn. If you are looking for a DIY wedding where you have to do just about everything for set up and break down then this is probably your place.
