We had the most amazing visit to the CT Trolley Museum. We came with a group, including children,…read moreand easily spent two and a half hours here. We could definitely have stayed longer, but alas, they were closing. The museum offers trolley rides with paid admission. You will be given trolley tickets, and the motorman will 'punch' the ticket for each ride. Trolleys leave on the hour and they have two different trolleys they alternate using. One has sides and windows (like a bus), the other is open on the sides (more like a San Fran. street car). Each ride lasts about thirty minutes, there and back again and we rode both trolleys so an hour of our visit was on the trolleys. A scavenger hunt is available for the kids and they loved it! Clip boards with the list of questions and pencils are located in the museum for the child to use during their hunt. Areas where you will find the answer to a questions have a big star on them and the question number. The kids were so excited to bring their answer sheets to the employee in the gift shop. She pulled out her answer key and 'graded' each paper making sure everyone had all the answers correct! Once a paper was graded, the child got to choose a trolley coin and were told those coins are rare! Only scavenger hunt participants get a coin, you can't buy them, so guard it well! Also for children is a Lego area, a dress up area, a kid sized wooden trolley they can play in, hand-held wooden trollies to play with, arts and crafts and other kid activities. There is even a reading nook off to one side in a sunny corner. The static display trolleys are very interesting. I especially enjoyed the snow sweeper trolley and the three wheeled, one person, conveyance. It's really too bad trolleys went 'out of fashion'. They covered so much ground and were a convenient way to get where you were going before the advent of the automobile. Your museum trolley ride includes information about historic local service that was quite interesting too. If you have time, there is a fire truck and apparatus museum in another building behind the trolley museum. A tour guide there will answer any questions and they have a lot of fire truck knowledge. Very interesting! We did leave a donation in the boxes in both buildings and we made some purchases in the gift shop to help support the mission. Most of the staff are volunteers, so if they do a good job and improve the quality of your visit, feel free to tip them. Not needed, but I'm sure it's appreciated. The kids want to return for their autumn pumpkin patch event. I want to return for their Christmas light event! Bring a warm blanket and cozy up with the kids! Sound like good winter fun to me. Parking on site with handicap spots near the entrance. Paved pathway to the building. You will have to hop up onto the trolley to ride. Restrooms were clean. Water fountain and bottle filling station are inside along with two vending machines for snacks. This is an excellent stop for all ages.

The staff was very friendly and very easy to deal with. We were a little worried about going over the limit for guests, but everyone was able to get a Trolley ride! They even let all the children pull the whistle, which they absolutely loved! The price was very reasonable, and they even opened up the museum part so the children could play and take a bunch of great photos! This children all received party favors of one free future Trolley ride. My advice is to get a membership for an even more amazing deal! Our party guests exclaimed that this was the most fun they've ever had at a birthday party! Great job!

When it comes to seating, I don't really think that there is a bad seat in the house and the seats are pretty spacious. There is a wide range of foods to eat for such a local venue and just about everything is moderately priced.

There are usually 2000 plus members per year but I've never felt crowded. Range officers are required by insurance regulations so they're really just there to keep your range open. Everything was very much the same, except they were hosting a nighttime event, called Frankenstein or something. If you visit during one of these days where there is a night event, there will be a lot of buildings closed off. I was disappointed to not be able to go into the Salem Towne house, the big church, and many other buildings. Otherwise, it was beautiful to look at, as always.

From the time you pull in there is ample parking and they get you through the entrance line very quickly. Generally, it is always a nice night out with family or friends, and the dark candlelit/foggy spooky atmosphere is great to explore in. I liked how this time around more of the buildings were open and there were employees dressed up telling stories from that time period. However, the shows for the Frankenstein event specifically were a let down an were too oddly spaced apart time-wise. We were only able to catch the laboratory and the finale. The laboratory event was a bit odd, just a guy shaking to some dubstep music. Hopefully next years is better.

As a WNBA fan, and lifelong basketball fan, I was blown away by the level of respect the Hall of…read moreFame gives to women athletes. Coming in, I was expecting for the building to focus on predominantly male athletes and get some tidbits of the women's game here and there. Because that's usually how it goes. Instead, I got a pretty large selection of content. In the historical section, which I was most interested in, there were so many artifacts from the women's teams, I could have spent hours there alone. The games and videos and promotional material all highlighted women beyond tokenism too. In most cases, for every highlight of a man, there was a highlight of a woman. Even the little things like the disposable inserts of the frames they were selling at the gift shop- had several women incorporated. And the gift shop wasn't segregated with a WNBA corner like every other basketball store I've ever been in, it was dispersed throughout the store. There was less W merch, but there was still a more meaningful selection than usual. I'd love to see an exhibition for a female player soon the way they have an exhibition for Steph rn. And there was great disability representation. The building itself is accessible with an elevator, spacious aisles, captions on all videos, large bathrooms with the more than one accessible stall. The museum is so impressively interactive, too. I would come back again and again. There are two main floors of content and a third bottom floor that is a basketball court. As a slow museum reader it took me 3 hours to get through. There is a Subway and a nicer tavern restaurant right in the building on either entrance. There is a Pizzeria UNO's in the same plaza as well.

There are basically three floors offering different exhibits/experiences but nothing crazy. The third floor had some nba hand/height comparisons, but honestly you could do some of this at the nba store in nyc. I enjoyed the Kobe exhibit and some of the historical items, but was also confused that they had stuff for people who weren't in the HoF yet (Stephen Curry had an entire exhibit). Also, I expected more than just a wall of names for the actual HoF "hall" area. Overall, cool to look around the exhibit and shoot/dunk hoops at the end, but underwhelming overall. It just seemed like some rich guy's collection of basketball memorabilia. Only worth checking out if you're in the area, but I wouldn't center a trip around it.
