Kids especially enjoy the waterfall adorned with colorful lights as they run around and play. It's a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of nearby restaurants, providing a peaceful city retreat. Keep in mind that parking can be challenging in uptown unless you manage to find a spot on a side street.

Kinda finding itself sandwiched between office buildings, I can see this place being a great "get away from work" lunch escape. One of the cooler features about the green, at least to me was their many mile markers that show arrows pointing to (insert city), with the approximate number of miles to get there and in what direction you can go. These little posts are littered all over the park and are impossible to ignore. There are several statues like the three large fish that kids seemed to love and the book statues as well. It's just a really nice place to find yourself on a warm and dry day. Natural shade from all of the trees, there's a large amount of landscaping around for sitting, or you can just have a seat on the well manicured grass. Not the largest park, but it is a little squirt of outdoor happiness between business as usual. There are no restrooms here, but there are trash cans about for that time when you'd like to have a snack in the shade and need to toss your food wrappers. I had no expectations for this park, and truly didn't know it existed, but because it hit the spot AND was such a nice break from all of the downtown-ness, it's easily 5 stars for me. Would I plan an entire trip to charlotte around it? Nah...it's not that kind of park. But while you're there, you will enjoy it no doubt!

Friends and I were in the area for brunch and decided to walk off a few calories before we headed out. We stumbled upon this park and figured it was a sign. Time to explore! The first thing I noticed was how clean the park was. I didn't see a single piece of trash while I was walking around. Next, it was pretty cool to see gym equipment on turf located along the side of the park. I've only seen this in towns along the coast. Very cool! I also enjoyed the fountain and my friends and I used it as a fun photo op. If your back is facing the fountain you can get a really good view of the city. Lastly, the place was landscaped really well and had tons of beautiful flowers. If you have time to talk a stroll and you're nearby, give it a gander.

This is one of the most beautiful parks I've had the pleasure of visiting. There are beautiful views, playgrounds and lawn space for children's play, plenty of parking, trails for walking/bike riding, several bridges, and large trees to compliment the fields. The park is well-kept as everyone here ensures cleanliness and top maintenance. As my dad and I sat down on the bench and soaked in our surroundings, we observed a plethora of activity which included some people flying drones, kids competing in the playground's obstacle course, elderly folks walking, dogs running amok, people racing toy cars, and a few people cycling. The positive energy and vibes were radiant. I'm glad we stopped by here. Definitely worth a visit in Charlotte!

The McGill Rose Garden absolutely delivered on that. This is truly a beautiful venue--lush flowers everywhere, winding walk paths, and plenty of places to sit quietly and just take it all in. It's the kind of space where you can slow down, clear your head, and quite literally stop and smell the roses. I found it to be a wonderful spot for reflection, a casual stroll, or simply enjoying nature without needing to leave the city. One of the things I especially appreciated is that you can enhance the experience with a visit to the wine bar onsite, Rosie's Wine Garden, where you can grab a coffee, cocktail, or glass of wine and then wander the grounds at your own pace. It adds a relaxed, almost European feel to the whole experience. A quick heads-up: parking can be a bit tricky, as the entrance is off a busy street, so just take your time and be patient when pulling in. Once you're there, though, it's well worth the effort. Bottom line: If you're looking for a small but charming botanical-style garden in Charlotte--a quiet place to reset, reflect, and enjoy the outdoors--this is a lovely little gem. There was a lot of construction going on and the nature trail was closed, but there was still a nice route through residential streets and paved space. The traffic might be slightly overwhelming for home owners, but everyone was there for the physical activity and having a good time. I live near the Brandywine Road part of the Greenway. I simply walk out my condo door and presto! I'm there. Behind the park is a beautiful waterfall. The photographer was able to use 6 different backgrounds, including the waterfall. Other couples were taking pictures there as well but when we first came it was just two. When we left it was about 7. Plenty of space though that everyone was still able to get great shots. It's on a very busy corner but faces Kings Dr. Free parking in the metropolitan garage, easy walk regardless of the construction that gets in the way. Across the street there's parking but also towing signs. Lots of people were taking a chance though. Caddy corner from the park is a shopping plaza with a few restaurants, stores etc. After we finished with the pictures I enjoyed shopping in Marshalls in the garage.

Yes the greenway is in west Charlotte, but once the city plan furthers itself, most of the greenways will be connected which will be nice- since the city can be pretty treacherous on the roads with vehicles that don't like to share. Like most other greenways, there are benches... places to stop and also places to walk pets. I didn't see many baggie stations, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time to install once it becomes more popular. Part of the trailhead will get you on stuart creek and connect you to Blue Blaze. Great way to experience Wesley heights and take in a local brewery!

Putting Cordelia Park in my "hidden gem" folder in a city that is continuing to grow and evolve…read more I had driven on North Davidson hundreds of times and saw the sign for this park, but the real trick is to stop and spend some time here. There's a great gated parking lot that allows families and visitors to park and get to the playground, there's also the pool (closed in the winter time) but I basically came here in search of an outdoor stair workout. Not only does the greenway come through the park, but there's a big elevation difference that allows for some gorgeous city views! The park also has some nice business neighbors like the Hobbyist and a Pho place, really nice way to start a Saturday is to workout, and then grab a coffee from the Hobbyist. I'm curious how booked up the event space is for the park since the back of the building is all glass and looks out to the gorgeous city skyline.
