And CONSTANT (and dishonest) nickel and diming to death. One month they insisted that my elderly parent living there needed a "2-3 person assist" to get around. That was fine. The next month, they insisted that my parent, somehow (with the same alleged 2-3 person assist) kept trying to escape and needed to go into infinitely more expensive memory care, so I asked them why the 2-3 people assisting them were helping my parent to escape? And could they please stop that? Magically after that, my elderly parent didn't need a 2-3 person assist anymore and no longer needed memory care. It was a "miracle!"

Having worked in just about every medical discipline, including an SNF, and can identify issues. I did find one. Our friend has a nice 1 bedroom apartment which included a large entryway with a kitchenette. There was enough room for a small dining table and chairs. Additionally, there was a separate living room and separate bedroom. Their check in process takes a couple of minutes and each visitor must register Our friend likes the staff and says the food is pretty good. The bottom line is: I highly recommend this place!!

From the beginning, this facility kept contacting me every couple of months, asking if I had made a decision and pushing for my business. When I was finally ready to move my sister, I met again with the coordinator, who assured me there would be no problems. We did the assessment over FaceTime, and that's where the red flags started. The nurse seemed fixated on the fact that my sister doesn't like to take showers--something that is extremely common with Alzheimer's patients--yet showed no real concern for her actual care needs. At that time, my sister wasn't on a medication schedule, which I explained, but instead of asking important questions, the nurse didn't even bother to meet my sister until I pushed for it. When she finally did, she spoke to her for a few seconds and abruptly ended the call. A few days later, the facility contacted me to say my sister wasn't a "good fit" because of her hygiene. That told me everything I needed to know. If a so-called memory care facility doesn't even understand that hygiene challenges are a direct symptom of dementia, they are not equipped to care for Alzheimer's patients--period. Their lack of basic knowledge and dismissive attitude made it clear they had no idea what they were doing.

Every assisted living or memory care place seems almost the same and seemed to have the same sales pitch. I just couldn't sift through any more of it and feel confident on my own in finding a better situation for my dad. Sitting at the computer in tears scrolling through assisted living websites, I stumbled across Stacy's Helping Hands here on Yelp. I called the company and reached the owner, Pam Silverberg. It was probably one of the single best things that ever happened in this painful, complicated road of caring for my dad. Pam was warm, friendly, and interested in helping me. Before i even engaged her services, she gave so much of her time to me. She wasn't another one of the sales people in the assisted living business - she just seemed like a concerned friend. And she had a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. We worked together for several months because I was so nervous about moving my dad. But she was patient and kept talking with me through good options. She was a fantastic sounding board. She got to know my dad's needs and made recommendations based on his needs and my concerns. She visited several facilities with me and became a good interface between me and the facility we finally chose. She was alongside us as we moved my dad and continued to interface with the facility and advocate for us in a couple of situations that arose when we moved my dad in. No one should navigate this road alone. Pam at Stacy's Helping Hands genuinely wants to help people navigate this arduous road. I feel like she's really become a friend in this whole process. If you're exhausted and nervous and overwhelmed - call Pam! Even if you don't engage her services, you will find a listening ear and undoubtedly a bit of sincere and valuable advice.

I cannot overstate her compassion, patience, and effort to help us. I highly recommend Stacy's Helping Hand to anyone looking for help with this process!

Location is nice - close to bus lines, grocery stores, a strip mall and some restaurants. Clermont is part of the Christian Living Communities. It's a fairly large campus but caters to all care levels from retirement living to skilled nursing care. Seems to be quite a few activities offered on a daily basis. Residents appear to be happy and engaging with each other. Updated Jan 2018 After touring an available room for a relative - the room itself was quite small (200 sq feet). The original building for Clermont must have been designed in the late 70s or early 80s? Either way the architect did not take window size into consideration. The studio I viewed had an approx 2'6" wide x 3'6" tall window. Newer facilities have much more ample window space as designers/architects slowly have learned that natural sunlight is important to the aging population. If you're hoping for a nice, bright and cheery room for your loved one - the rooms at this facility do not compare to other, newer, more updated facilities.
