Deerfield is a beautiful town park with so many memorials and things to do. I enjoy the walking…read morepaths - there are paved paths around the playgrounds, the Senior Center, and by the memorials, and I especially like the wooded cross country paths. For the kids, there are two playgrounds - one for toddlers and one for older kids. It's really nice that the toddler playground is fenced to protect the children from cars. There is also a splash pad during the summer and children really seem to love this new addition to the park. For sports fans, there are soccer fields, tennis courts, a baseball field and a basketball court. Recently a disc golf course was added as well. The park is really pretty in the spring with numerous flowering trees, and it is well maintained. There are bathrooms, plenty of parking areas, a snack bar that is often open during sporting events, and the Smithfield Senior Center is in Deerfield Park as well. The memorials at Deerfield are beautiful and are definitely worth a stop while visiting the park. The Veteran's memorial is lovely and there is a very touching memorial to Smithfield young people who have passed on. Lots of benches to relax on, a gazebo, and many shaded places. There's also a small sledding hill for young children, and a larger hill for those who are more adventurous. Deerfield is also used for summer outdoor concerts, food truck nights and the Smithfield 4th of July fireworks. Love this park!

The canal and scenic trails along the Blackstone River are great for walking, running, or biking. If you take your time, you'll spot plenty of bluegills in the water, and occasionally bass or carp. You'll also see fishermen scattered along the canal and river, adding to the laid-back, local feel. What really stands out is how quiet it is compared to other state parks. Unless there is an event, there are no large crowds, and little noise--just open space and nature. Perfect for a casual stroll, a bike ride, fishing, frisbee, a picnic, or just clearing your head.

You do have to pay to get in- but it's really cheap! Sadly the arcade was closed and the water slides weren't in the water due to Covid. The concession stand, bathroom, playground and mostly everything else was open! The water was what you would expect for a lake! A little slimy- but it was cool you could see huge sun fish swimming right next to you! There wasn't too many people here which was nice! They had lifeguards on duty! They had a roped off section where you could rent kayaks, paddle boards and little row boats which was priced amazing at like $7.00 an hour or $7.00 for 45 minutes the only downside was that it was roped off to a small section only due to covid! They had a volleyball court, a playground, ping pong tables and so many cool attributes. Lunch for 3 people was less then $25 including ice cream which is amazing- at the beach it would have been $60! I was quite impressed with this little beach and I would definitely be back- My only complaint would be wishing the parking was closer!

Also across the street is Dune Bros, so when you visit Rose Larisa, you can get some clam cakes & chowder and go eat in the park with a water view. I especially like the wooden staircases that take you down to the water. Although the beach is not very wide, it is long enough for a walk and leashed dogs are allowed on the beach as well. Rose Larisa is a great place to watch the sunset, and there is plenty of free parking. This park also is home to the annual RI Folk Festival and the city of East Providence also presents summer concerts here so go check out some local live music! I absolutely love this waterfront park.

I used to go in the water when we were all small my Dad used to take us all me Rita and Joey. he…read morewould throw us all in the water. We all had a blast on a Sunday afternoon. There was a body of fresh water and we all would go in the water just to cool off and in our swimsuits. I really wish that pond would re-open for us to go swimming in but all the broken glass from the drunken people in the months of the winter kept throwing beer bottles on the icy pond plus water rats were at the bottom of the lake. I wish the Town of Lincoln had raised enough money to get rid of the problem we all had for so many years so we can go swimming in that pond once again.

I've been boating on this lake for 13 years, and yes--I can pronounce its full name, one of the…read morelongest place names in the world: Chargoggagoggmanchauggagaugchaubunagungamaugg. It's quite a mouthful! Purportedly the largest natural lake in Massachusetts, it's only about three miles long and one mile wide, which perhaps says more about Massachusetts lakes than it does this one. Still, it's a terrific local destination. The lake has a couple of marinas, three waterfront restaurants accessible by boat, a town beach with restrooms and a snack bar, and the popular Indian Ranch entertainment venue, which also includes an RV campground and the newer and quite good Samuel Slater's Restaurant. The lake offers something for almost everyone: fishing, swimming, boating, tubing, water skiing (there's even a water ski club), kayaking, and enough open water for all of those activities to coexist somewhat comfortably. Weekdays are wonderfully peaceful, making it easy to find a quiet cove or enjoy a leisurely cruise. Summer weekends, however, are another story. When the weather is hot, the lake becomes a very busy place. There are at least three eagle nests on the lake and one gas station. Unfortunately the gas station is currently closed. Dock space is in high demand, with waiting lists at the marinas. Development around the shoreline has steadily increased over the years. While a few natural stretches remain, nearly every buildable lot has been developed, and many of the original seasonal cottages have been replaced by sprawling year-round waterfront homes. I'm very fortunate to have this lake just a few minutes from home--and even more fortunate that I can usually enjoy it during the week, when the crowds are at work.

I'm not sure if it's official parking but there is a small area where I've seen cars parked but there's also lots of street parking not too far away. The park is handicapped accessible, since the entire walk down is a winding ramp. There are multiple places to sit and admire nature along the way and there are even benches. In either direction you look, you get a good view of something whether is a cool bird, ducks, water, leaves, train tracks, etc. I found it to be a very relaxing place to read, reflect, or enjoy a meal. People trickle in and out but everyone has been quiet and respectful. There is graffiti all over but I think it adds personality to the park.
