The store is lovely and quaint! It's very aesthetically pleasing! The sun porch is a great addition and place to sit. However, the food there is... not good for what the price is. A good portion of food on the menu is microwaved. The burritos are made fresh! We torch the tortilla on the gas stove and then put the re-fried beans that cook all day on and whatever else the customer wants on the burrito. Then what do they do? They pop it in the microwave! Why? I don't know myself. I find it too be a foolish practice. The coffee? Eh. If you're planning on getting a latte or cappuchino don't hold your breath it'll taste way different every time. They don't know how much espresso to put in. The vegeburgers? Morning star patties cooked on the panini. That's not so bad... except they sell the burgers for more than the price of an entire BOX of patties. They also can't hold staff to save their lives! You can go in maybe once a week and expect to see someone missing or a new face. They've gone through I believe... about 7 people in the past 6 months. Not what I would call good managing. The food is overpriced and quite mediocre. You'd be better off going to Carlitos. Even culvers is better than this place. Don't bother buying stuff from the store, you can get it for half off at Walmart. The store may look pretty and sometimes you'll get really friendly employees but don't be fooled. This place is a disaster that runs straight down to who runs the place. Many times you go in there and you'll meet standoffish employees who seem to act high and mighty. It's better to get your food elsewhere. The only good thing I can really say about this place is the fact that it's nice and pretty on the inside and there are plenty of outlets to plug your laptop into. Really though, why spend over seven dollars on an italian sub you could make at home for half the price! The food there is way overpriced and although they may get good business it does not mean there are not flaws in the system. The employees are unhappy in their environment and a majority of their business comes from tourists who don't know any better. The environment is also quite toxic as many of the regular customers seem to have their heads up their bums. It's just not a good place to be around. People act stuck up and high and mighty and who likes feeling judged? No one. It may seem like a great place but honestly there are many, many, MANY better options in town. I don't like knowing that a majority of the warm food is microwaved. Especially things that are made fresh and then thrown into a microwave. It just doesn't make sense! If you like the place more power to you! But the staff is unfriendly and the environment is just blargh! Not my kind of spot. I'd much rather grab something from Culvers or even the gas station then waste my money there. read more

Good food, limited menu. Offers breakfast and lunch options. Order at counter, they bring it to you, bus your own table. Can be just packed in the summer. I would recommend but be warned, these people are a bit pretentious. read more

Went for breakfast, told an hour wait for food. With friends so decided to grab coffee and wait. The latte was delicious but the rest of the experience horrible and will not go back. Hour wait for food was an hour and 40 minutes!!!! We had basic egg breakfasts, my bacon was over cooked and my friends undercooked. They need serious help running their kitchen. read more

Love love love this place. Been stoping in for over 20 years and it never disappoints. Interesting dishes, fresh healthy ingredients. Today had daily special of "open-faced" chicken tacos. Three small grilled corn tortillas with seasoned but not too spicy chicken, some shredded greens and then a dollop of yummy creamy slaw on top. Plus a side salad with lemon tahini dressing. A relatively new resident of Spring Green, I was introduced to the General Store soon after I came here. Never a dull moment there and the essence of Spring Green's personality. It is always popular. Old wooden floors. The best in quality food and quirky toys and cards and other goodies. Nice clothes available as well. I don't think their prices are out of line, considering things tend to be a bit more expensive in Spring Green. Their peach waffles are to die for! read more

Over Labor Day weekend, we stopped in for breakfast. Hard to find parking - it seemed EVERYONE was there, but we found parking and had THREE wonderful breakfasts. So so so glad we went.
