Food was very good, however, get there early because they run out of certain dishes! i.e. the cakes that they are so proud of.....and the specials for the day. It did take quite a while, probably 30 mins for 6 sandwiches. I got the chicken salad sandwich . It was pretty good. It had a different taste to it, maybe a bit vinegary? This place is everything! The little flea market when you first walk in is so unique and cute! The aesthetic here is so quaint and cozy. The food is to die for!!! Folks were raving so we thought we'd give it a try. Wait was estimated at 50-60 min. We asked if we could get a dessert "to go" to share while we waited as it was a "special" rare date. They said: "If you purchase a piece of cake, we will take you off the wait list." Then adding insult to injury they have what looks like a church bench with about 3' that has a sign that says take out, please do not sit below (arrow pointing below the sign). We sat at the other end of the 6' bench and the server asked us to move and pointed at the sign. I guess I would have just posted bench reserved as to avoid being rude to my guests. The food was "good", nothing that we would rave about tho. It is made fresh, food came quickly and the choices on the menu were good. We would eat here again but would definitely not wait any length of time. Hubby and I both agreed, we preferred Marketplace. The desserts here are good. Would be better if they used real whipping cream rather than the cool whip type. I have no problem recommending. If there is a huge wait though, try the marketplace in town square, their food is excellent and they care about the guest and will sell you a marvelous cookie while you wait. One of the Ozark's well known secret spots, the 'tea room'. Cleverly designed out an old house, you are greeted by cheerful cashiers, the store decorated with antiques and other knickknacks from the beginning. You'll find out that there's a lot to look at, especially with the justified wait that you'll have for a table on busy days. This is perfect time to pick up unique planters or even some old photographs of people you don't know. I will say, according to my grandma, some of the antiques are a little pricey but they sometimes have stuff that collectors haven't seen before. Okay, now to the food. I'm not kidding when I say it's a breath of fresh air. Everything is so perfectly seasoned, salted, peppered, etc. And don't even get me started on their HOMEMADE cakes. Like every single ingredient is put together. Not box at all. The last two times I've been, they had been out of their chocolate cakes, but for honest good reason. They're amazing, period. We used to LOVE this place! Amazing desserts, delicious cold soup, and great service. However, lately it's gotten so busy that it's not even worth the super long wait. It also gets so busy that by the time you're seated, none of their delicious cakes are left. I'd love for them to provide seating areas for the long waits (they basically expect you to stroll through rows of antique stalls, but honestly antiques aren't for everyone) and/or an online waitlist so you could be texted or something when it's your turn. They also need to expand the restaurant to add more seating. It's basically a tiny back corner when there's clearly a demand for a bigger restaurant. I can't say enough good things about this adorable lunch spot! In order to make the most of your visit I would recommend showing up when they open at 10:30. Your entire party must be there in order for you to be seated, but if you have a group of 5 or more you can call ahead and make a reservation. When you order your lunch make sure to also order your cake - they sell our QUICK! Their desserts are baked fresh daily and oh my goodness they are to die for. The cheesecake has been my favorite! Their sandwiches are incredibly fresh. The vegetables are cut so thin and have the perfect crunch. The strawberry soup tastes like a melted milkshake - so sweet and the perfect texture. I eat here almost every Saturday and love the food prices and it's always busy so there us always a wait which is fine with me. Fantastic desserts, flavored tea, and soups that vary by the day. Meh. I really don't understand the draw of this place. They have OK sandwiches but nothing you couldn't slap together yourself with some decent deli cuts and spread. (The bread is nice and dense, though.) To access that just-barely-decent sandwich, though, you have to either wait forever for a table or you have to (as my family inexplicably does) arrive for lunch at 10:20am. So, obviously, I must be in the minority, because huge hordes of other people seem to find a draw in this place that I can't understand. Sure, it's a perfectly decent sandwich. And sure, they have nice desserts (I'm not a sweet tooth, though, so that doesn't appeal to me). But there really isn't anything special about it, and certainly nothing special enough to warrant waiting more than maybe about 5-10 minutes for a table. (And you'll wait FAR longer than that.) By the way, they are VERY strict about their policy of not seating your party until everyone is physically standing in front of the hostess. They're almost downright rude about it, too. Once you're past the gauntlet, though, the servers are usually reasonably friendly. Definitely not a place to relax and enjoy a spell, though. Frankly, if I want better food, I go somewhere like the (new) Finley just a few blocks away, and if I want a better atmosphere, I'll head to the Vineyard Market at the next exit north. And over the years the prices have remained low! Such an amazing value. Yes, it gets very crowded quickly. Our pro tip is to show up around 10 a.m. to sit down at a table before there is a line, and they will start serving around 10:15 or 10:30. It saves you having to wait in line for 45 minutes. Years ago I read a review about this place so I kept it in mind for 'someday' to stop in. That day came and it was perfect. There was no wait to be seated. The cold peach soup was incredibly good. So yummy I took an order to go for the next day! The chocolate pie would have been very good had the filling not be removed before it was placed in the to go container. It was literally meringue and crust with a spoonful of chocolate in between. That would be the fault of the person that packaged it so I won't remove stars for that. I took a piece of coconut cream for a friend. She loves coconut cream pie more than anything in the world. She said it was very very good and the crust was excellent. The server wasn't the best. She was friendly but disappeared and another server asked if I needed anything else. The place was full when I arrived but cleared out so maybe the server was taking a break? Plenty of parking out back. Interesting shopping with all kinds of antiques. Devoured a great sandwich and a very moist slice of chocolate cake. server kept my coffee cup full, which seems difficult for some servers during a rush hour, but not this one.
