An outstanding experience! Very good sandwiches, we had the chicken salad and the veggie, with a cup of stuffed pepper soup and a cup of strawberry soup. Both soups were good. We then had the brownie cheesecake and coconut merengue pie. Both were to die for! The service was very efficient and friendly. And they voluntarily gave to go cups of our drinks! I recently had lunch with a friend at this cute little tea room. It has a nice setting in the back of a little antique shop. I didn't find anything I couldn't live without in the shop, but it was fun to look around while I waited for my friend. I read all of the amazing reviews before going and decided I HAD to try the chicken salad sandwich and I HAD to get a piece of that famous cake. The sandwich was good, definitely edible, but nowhere near the best I have ever had. For dessert I ordered the chocolate cake (you can never go wrong with chocolate cake), and it was AMAZING!! This is a hidden gem. The chicken salad I the best from anyone who I have brought here. My favorite I the dessert the menu changes daily with over 200 different options but they have like 12-15 each day. My wife and I share a sandwich so we can each get a dessert. The food is wonderful- fresh, crisp and everything a tea room should be. However, get your meal to go! The wait can go over 2 hours on Fridays and Saturdays. It is not worth that long of a wait. Thanks for ruining our lunch plans! We had reservations and they refused to honor them. Had guests in from out of town. One person canceled and they told us they wouldn't seat us and that we could go on their one hour plus waiting list. The time before that, they screwed up our carry out order, big time. Oh, and they were totally late in getting it ready too. They totally could care less about the customer experience, as they're busy. The lady today wasn't the least bit nice. I'm done. There's a lot of other good tea rooms in the area. I don't need the extra headache. Try not to die on the way into the place. The derilect deck is a death trap. It's ready to collapse. My sister who is an excellent baker has raved about this place for months. I was finally in town on my way overseas and got a chance to visit here. I had a very tasty cup of corn/chicken soup. The chef's salad was excellent and had pieces of strawberry in it; however, I would suggest that this salad could be GREATLY improved by using a quality cheese rather than what appeared and tasted to be white American cheese cut in strips. I had the strawberry earthquake cake which was excellent but too sweet and too much to finish. I highly recommend a visit to this quaint spot with excellent homemade cakes. My sister gave me a taste of her chicken salad sandwich - yummy. The chicken salad has grape pieces in it as well as a bit of cinnamon. Tasted super and better than I expected. Sis who is a great cook, said she has never had anything that wasn't excellent here; however, we both agreed that the cheese in the salad needs to be improved! Visited this Tea Room over Christmas vacation 2011. Went with my daughter-in-law and 3 of my grand daughters. Ordered soup and half a sandwich. A whole sandwich would have been too much. Ordered a piece of their wonderful cake. It was so moist and just melted in your mouth. I recommend this place to everyone. We had to wait for a table but it was worth it. Shopped through the antiques while waiting for our name to be called. Next time we are in Springfield the girls and I will go again. I have always loved dining at this tearoom. The food is outstanding, the strawberry soup is the best, and is relatively inexpensive. Plus the added bonus of shopping in the antique store while waiting to eat. But alas they will never attain my business again. I recently took my daughter, who is almost 2 years old, and needless to say she was a bit fussy. I tried my best to calm her. I rocked her, let her walk around the store, took her into the bathroom all while we were waiting for a table. It was getting close for our turn to get seated so I took her up to the benches to sit down. She started to fuss again and I just wanted to get her something to eat at this point. The owner, Brenda May, came over to me to point out the fact that my daughter was disrupting the whole tearoom and asked me to leave the restaurant. Needless to say I was very upset with her demanding attitude. Most mothers know that kids get fussy now and then but to demand that I leave is just stupid! I understand that the owner has every right to refuse service to anyone and I will also reserve the right to never patron the store again. I will also advise anyone with children to refrain from her store. Someone please get that woman a hormone pill or something!
