It was watery and terrible flavor. I tried but disappointed. I'll just go to Aberdales or Caddy Shack.

QUICK DISCLAIMER: This is not Bev's anymore. This is in fact, a SoCo creamery, which is apparently…read morea minor-ish New England chain. I like SoCo. I like the chalk board. I like the pseudo-rock and roll pictures on the walls. I like the fact that the teenaged staff really pays no attention whatsoever when I camp out at their tables and eat take-out Thai food. Oh, yeah, the ice cream. The key-lime pie ice cream I tried on special here was really exceptional. A subtle lime flavor and graham cracker pieces created a delicious combination. Too bad it's not a regular flavor. I also enjoy the pumpkin and ginger flavors, which seem to crop up regularly. The heath bar is exactly what it says it is, if you're into that sort of thing. (The scoops are expensive but large enough for me...of course, I'm a wuss.) They also have a lot of frozen coffee drinks and an interesting "frozen hot chocolate", which is basically an extremely rich chocolate milkshake. Brownie sundaes are tasty enough and are also bigger then your head, which is a plus when you're a college student. I usually just cave and get the soft-serve frozen yogurt, which is both fat free, tasty enough, and can be topped with gummy bears. (Try chocolate-vanilla swirl with gummy bears! Mmm, perverse!) It seems like they have sandwiches, which look both overpriced and slightly elderly whenever I see them. Exercise caution.

I wish I could give this review 3 & 1/2 stars, actually. I'm a BIG fan of the ice cream. Some of…read moretheir flavors are so extraordinary! Banana, Berry Mountain, Mexican Chocolate...*mmmmmmmm* Their pear sorbet is also a real treat. My complaints? Some of the inept teens that work there. Please note I said "some". Some are lazy, dismissive, and off their game. Some are completely on top of what they are doing. My prime example? The creation of a banana milkshake. I love ordering them to see what the reaction of the staff will be. Some scratch their heads and say something to the effect of "I don't think I can. We don't have banana ice cream". I tell them to mix one of the 20 bananas hanging from the glass partition to blend them with vanilla ice cream. Others say they aren't allowed to mix bananas and ice cream, which puzzles me seeing as bananas are a main ingredient of many of their smoothies. *hmmmmm* Haaaa. However, when I order a banana milkshake other times, what question do I get? "Okay. Do you want one or two bananas in it?" Those are the kids that get the extra tip. Ha! Lines can be long, but this place is popular solely on the product. The ice cream is fabulous. There is no denying that.

"You never see it coming, You never have a clue,…read moreBut there's trouble on the horizon, Bubbling like a roux" (Jimmy Buffet) Walking around and browsing the shops in Great Barrington on a beautiful Spring Day was a real enjoyable experience. We wanted to try a new place for lunch and ended up at Marjoram And Roux for a very nice lunch, It has a front showcasw with baked goods and prepared salads and a big roll of butcher paper on the wall where the day's specials are listed. We ordered at the front counter, grabbed a table in the modestly sized dining room and our two sandwiched came out very fast. My wife ordered a Prosciutto Baguette with arugula, red pepper tapenade, and Buffalo Mozzarella with an aged balsamic dressing for $16. I ordered a Pita Sadwich with White Bean Hummus, Beets, Olives, Pickled Onions, and Arugula for $12. Both sandwiches were served with a small salad of local greens. I loved my sandwich. The pillowy softness of the pita, the smooth velvety texture of the hummus, the sweetness of the beets, and the saltiness of the olives all combined for one fantastic sandwich. Portion size was generous, and since we knew we'd be stopping down the street for ice cream, we each took home half of our lunch. Pricing was reasonable at just around $30 after tax and before tip. There's a lot of lunch choices in Great Barrington and we were very happy with ours.

Very good coffee and hot drinks, teas, iced drinks. We split a spinach croissant into 4 and inhaled it in 2 seconds, it was good. The small menu of specials, written on white butcher, paperhanging on the subway tiled wall, looked fabulous. But the prize goes to the big, round Ginger Molasses cookie, studded with ginger and perfectly sweetened. A few cozy tables, nice natural lighting, relaxing background music and a friendly staff make for the perfect stop along your way.
