Jim is a man of his word and is one of the most honest, reliable, and communicative contractors I have worked with and we've built 2 homes and completely remodeled one, so I've worked with MANY contractors. Jim is also a very straight shooter so I can imagine the few people who have left negative reviews are either high-maintenance and over demanding, or scammers who wanted something for free or cheap. When our deck wasn't exactly as we wanted and had been agreed Jim ripped it all out and redid it at zero extra cost to us because as he said, we didn't get what we asked for and it's the right thing to do. He's honest, professional, was present throughout and delivered a pool EARLY during the summer that is more than we dreamed of. We LOVE it and so do our kids. We also asked to see his insurance and bonding info and confirmed he has both, not that we except to use them but it's part of the due diligence anyone should do!

Would we recommend Corbin Whitlaw / Tier One Pools?  No!  For starters, our project kept getting…read morepushed back.  It was initially supposed to start on 7/28 but didn't actually get started until 9/4.  Corbin was only on site one time, and that was for about 15 minutes towards the end of the build.  His crew was great to work with but they couldn't make some of the decisions that needed to be made. Corbin took us to see the same pool design at another location and we liked the way it looked.  However, the bubblers on their tanning ledge were in a direct line while ours are offset.  This affects the way we can set our lounge chairs.  They installed the wrong heater.  We paid for a 400 BTU and they installed a 250 BTU.  It was also for natural gas and we have propane, which they knew because they dug the hole for the propane tank!  Once this was pointed out to them they said they would not do any more work until we made the final payment!  Per the contract, the final payment isn't due until the work is complete. After that, Corbin and his crew ghosted us.  They also left us with a green pool and we had to hire someone to clean it.  They couldn't believe they'd left our pool like that and they were surprised how much gravel was in the bottom of the pool. We finally had to get an attorney to help us get the job finished.  Now Corbin is ghosting us again on warranty work because we have issues on the equipment and he is not going to provide us with any answers.  We've, once again, had to get our attorney involved. One other thing:  Tier One Pools did NOT build our pool house.  They poured the concrete slab but that was it.  His ad implies they built the "complete backyard experience."  That is completely false.  There are also reviews on his page from crew members and ex girlfriend's who have NOT had pools installed.
