I spoke to Jim on the phone to book the service, and he was really friendly and helpful. He said his wife Rose would be in touch with a quote after I texted some pictures of the room. I don't know who I was texting with in the end. They quoted me $100. The two workers arrived right on time, were very polite, and did a beautiful job! However, they spoke no English and used a phone app to communicate. (You speak into the phone, they read the Portuguese that's generated, then they speak into the phone and it spits out English. Who knows how accurate it is.) I lived in a foreign country for 6 years and while I wasn't fluent, I had basic proficiency in the language... admittedly I worked in an industry where people spoke English, but for day-to-day things I was glad I could read and handle basic conversations. (This was pre-smart phone.) I'd love to hire Rose's Cleaning for their organizing service, but can't imagine how you'd do that with someone you couldn't talk to. They get good reviews for that, so maybe I'll try it. I'm skeptical but interested. If all you need is cleaning it probably doesn't matter that you can't communicate without a phone translator. Their work was beautiful and they were punctual and polite. All of that is great. I'm glad they could fit us in!

They…read moreinitially impressed us with the quality of cleaning coverage in our house, but it is now clear they sent the A team to hook us, but subsequent teams on the schedule simply didn't do the job well. Maybe 3/10 visits they actually cleaned our floors and bathrooms to a quality standard. Typically they just did a quick n dirty vacuum of our carpets and a spit shine of our surfaces and bathrooms and headed out. Our last visit they didn't even bother to scrub our tub or our toilets. Honestly, we would be happy to pay more if we thought it would actually get us a higher quality standard but... that's not how this industry works. Cleaners who work these jobs just don't care.
