I had the best experience at Sposa Bella! Nancy, is amazing to work with and made designing my dress so easy and fun. She went out of her way to contact the designer of my wedding gown to have her custom my dream dress for me by changing the top to fit as a halter instead of the original strapless fit. They measured me perfect enough and I was able to trust them with the entire process. The day my dress came in I was speechless! It was exactly made the way I pictured it and designed it. This boutique has an absolutely stunning selection of gowns, but the manager, Nancy, left me in in tears. My mom and I stopped by the boutique and purchased a sample gown as-is for $4,000. The price was made up on the spot (Nancy came up with various numbers depending on our budget, as there were no tags) and was firm. The prices she provided for some gowns fluctuated throughout the appointment as she forgot which number she said and was reminded by staff. My gown had a corset back, and the employee who was working with me that day said that the ribbon that came with the dress would be ordered and included with the purchase. The employee was excellent in helping me find my dream dress and I appreciated her tremendously. I fell in love with the gown and purchased it on the spot. I drove an hour from Ann Arbor to Birmingham to meet with the seamstress a few days later and get a quote for a dress alteration. When we asked about the ribbon for the dress, Nancy proceeded to scoff at us and tell me that the $4,000 gown did not include a ribbon and that she would not be providing us with one. When we reiterated that the previous employee had told us that we would be getting this piece of the dress, she proceeded to say that this employee "has only been working here a month" and that "She didn't know what she was talking about". I was shocked to hear her belittle another employee so shamelessly, especially one that I had found to be excellent. Multiple other employees witnessed this incident and found other ribbons, though they did not match the color of my gown and were not of similar material. In fact, Nancy said my gown looked like a "little girl's dress" when we were trying different satin ribbons. It was nothing short of humiliating. Instead of offering to purchase a matching ribbon or finding a solution to the miscommunication, Nancy threatened us with taking the gown back as a return-- throwing a tantrum over a ribbon that I cannot imagine would cost more than $50. I began crying in the fitting room, to which Nancy responded that she "has another appointment and does not have time for us". My mom and I were appalled by the level of indecency and disrespect that we were experiencing. Before we left the boutique, Nancy reluctantly agreed for us to purchase a ribbon at another location and be reimbursed. I would have appreciated this solution from the beginning instead of the outburst and humiliation that followed. Nancy refused to provide us with the contact information of the boutique's owner (Ms Silvana), though I was able to find her email myself and reach out. Nancy emailed me an apology, though it was very defensive and insincere. I ended up speaking over the phone to Ms. Silvana who graciously apologized on Nancy's behalf and offered to contact the designer to find a matching ribbon. She was incredibly professional and kind, which I appreciated a lot. She's the reason I added an extra star to this review. When my mom came into the boutique to pick up my dress, Nancy didn't even acknowledge her presence. She saw her, but didn't bother to say hello or apologize in person. It once again reinforced that Nancy was not willing to make amends. Very disheartening. Overall, I love my gown, but am so disappointed that a day that should have been filled with joy ended up in frustration and tears. read more

Last October, I discovered my dream wedding dress at Sposa Bella (SB). Despite the $10,000 price, I was ecstatic about my choice. I had contemplated buying two dresses, but I was so in love with the one I picked that I couldn't imagine changing into anything else. I explained to Nancy that I could only return to MI once before my October wedding, as I lived in AZ. We agreed to fit appointments around my July visit to MI. Nancy informed me that alterations and the first fitting were included, and she threw in a tulle veil. I set up a July 14th appointment at 11am. SB never confirmed additional fittings, so I assumed one was enough. When I arrived, I was told my appointment was at 12pm and Nancy would be late. The gown fit perfectly, but we decided to add lining to the slightly sheer skirt. There was limited discussion about alterations. I faced strong opinions on my hairstyle and earrings, and after measurements, Nancy surprised me with September and October appointments lined up and a $625 invoice, contrary to what we had discussed previously. My stepmom later called SB, stating we wouldn't pay for charges that we were told were included and they could send the dress with agreed-upon alterations and find someone in AZ for further changes. A week later, my dress arrived in a beaten-up Home Depot box, noticeably lacking care. While the garment bag offered some protection, the choice of packaging was insulting. Items from our registry have arrived in better condition. Thankfully, the gown emerged unscathed, however, the pins that had been used to mark alterations remained in place, indicating a lack of finalization. Nancy later explained that due to the dispute regarding payment, the dress had been shipped without alterations. I was bewildered and offended by the discourteous excuses and justifications that Nancy offered. The roughly cut tulle veil arrived a week later, with the jagged edging most noticeable around the area that framed my face. With tax and other charges, the grand total for my gown was around $12,000. The disappointing experience with SB has completely tarnished my initial excitement about my dress. I even began considering another dress for the reception. SB's professionalism vanished after the deposit and second payment. They could have suggested an AZ seamstress for quality alterations. Rather than being deceptive, they could have transparently discussed the costs of additional alterations. My seamstress in AZ was appalled by my SB encounter. She commented on the veil's rough edges and believed it was poorly cut. My parents attempted to contact the owner for resolution, but the response was unsatisfactory. Nancy avoided accountability and refused direct communication with the owner. They sent a $500 gift card, but the damage was done. In conclusion, a combination of miscommunication, disrespect, unexpected charges, and lackluster presentation has overshadowed what should have been a joyful occasion. I would advise anyone considering patronizing this business to seek alternatives. There are plenty of bridal boutiques other than Sposa Bella that are committed to customer satisfaction and professionalism. I would also suggest that wedding gown designers reconsider partnering with SB. The business's behavior could reflect poorly on their work. read more

I was excited to explore their options and have never been treated like scum more in my life. Walked in and she asked me if I initially had an appointment at another bridal shop nearby. Confirming 2 texts and 3 emails, I most certainly did not. After this confusion that took a solid 5 minutes to clear up claiming I called also to reschedule with another phone number and set an appointment for a time I wasn't even in town for and then confirming and showing them - I was treated with absolute disrespect. There was no one in there. They were not busy. There was no excuse to be standing there proving I hadn't made the call. It was a scene out of Pretty Woman - asking if I could afford a certain dress I grabbed, told I need to wear their shoes and having a back and forth for way longer than needed - which excuse me I don't want fungus, and then asked if I have good balance because how dare I want to wear my own shoes. Then throw in getting looked up and down into the mix. I would NEVER suggest a bride to be to get their gown of their most special day there unless you want to be treated as if it's your first day in school and want to be bullied. An absolute shame. Do yourself the favor and go to the bridal store down the street. To have three staff members sitting there to then be treated like absolute garbage is a big slap in the face for the owner - none of which I certainly hope were there. read more

My 16 year old daughter needed a debutante dress. Spent many weekends going to the various bridal shops with my wife, only to come home frustrated, telling me stories of rude treatment, and tactics I could not believe anyone would subject themselves to. I was utterly dismayed to hear bridal shop protocol, and frankly did not believe it. So I told my wife that I will take my daughter at a time of my choosing and find a dress in one stop. "Impossible!" she said. I was told that I needed an appointment, etc, etc. "Nonsense!" I replied. I ask a friend in the industry where to go. Sposa he says. Today: I take my daughter dress shopping. She is freaking out in the car telling me that we MUST have an appointment. We arrive at Sposa. Are promptly greeted, despite there being a large wedding party. Are treated nicely. Staff initially turns to the less expensive dresses. Finds a few ok ones. Then go pick amongst the pricier ones, as they will be going on sale in a week, offering huge discounts. Quickly, my daughter finds multiple other dresses we like. Call mom. Mom arrives. Buy one dress for deb, and another just because it was pretty and on the $100 rack. Love this place. Great staff. It was less then 1 week before my wedding and I had already bought my wedding dress (from another vendor) and I happened to walk into sposa bella to find a head piece (which I also ended up wearing on my big day). Lo and behold I lock on eyes on a STUNNING Toni Ward dress. It was the most insane and BEST decision I ever made. We talked with the employees and the amazing seamstress to see what it even possible to have this dress fitted within a few days? and IT DID. I flew in from out of state so I could try on dresses with my mom (who was recently diagnosed with cancer). We happened to be walking in Birmingham, and stumbled across Sposa Bella. I called to make an appointment. My consultant allowed me to pull whatever I wanted to try on, she also made some suggestions. Throughout the appointment, my consultant would leave to take care of another client. She would leave me for large periods of time waiting in the dressing room. At one point, she even had me try on a couture size 2 dress (I am usually a size 6). Obviously, the dress did not fit and was the furthest thing from flattering on my body. If that was not a hit to my self-esteem enough, I don't know what could have been. My consultant left my appointment and failed to help me get out of my dress. Sposa Bella was disappointing to say the least. To see my mother with cancer have to sit there and see me so overwhelmed and heart broken, broke her heart. As we were leaving, the manager of the store tried to make amends by giving me a ticket to enter in their free dress draw. Which, of course, was a sweet gesture, but failed to make amends. I would NEVER step foot back into this salon. Very trashy and unprofessional. read more

This store is your typical stuck up Birmingham store. Mind you I ended up buying my dress from Antonio's down the street where you are treated much better! When I called to schedule an appointment I made it clear my budget was $5,000 for a dress and $6,000 with alterations etc. When I showed up there are maybe 5 dresses in the store under $6,000. So I browsed a bit and the lady pulled a few dresses for me but the entire time making me feel so uncomfortable. I told her what I wanted and instead of just saying I'm sorry we don't have that here in your budget she just tried to pull dresses that were on sale or stock dresses nowhere near what I was looking for. Then she encouraged me to enter the contest for a free dress that again was a ball gown with beading and I wanted a mermaid style lace dress. She couldn't have cared less about what I wanted and just made me feel bad about my budget. I ended up just walking out after she pulled this dress that was gray in color beading and looked like a mother of the bride dress and said this one is $800. I had never felt so frustrated in my life. I wasn't trying to hide my budget nor was I trying to buy a $25,000 dress for $200. I had my budget and she was just so disrespectful it made everyone with me incredibly upset and uncomfortable. I wasn't trying to just buy any dress for my wedding and save money, I had a vision of my dress and what I wanted. I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone, not even if you have a massive budget because there are stores out there more deserving of your business and you deserve someone who doesn't just want to help cause you have a large budget but because they genuinely care about you, your dress and your wedding day! read more

Horrible experience!! Not only did I buy my wedding dress from their bridal salon, but my mom bought her mob dress here. Her dress came in super late and than when they did the alterations someone cut the wrong part and messed up her whole dress. They ordered her the wrong earrings that also took months to come in, and this was all one week before the wedding. To top it off the sales girls were extremely rude and unprofessional! This was the first dress shop I visited when shopping for my bridal gown. I instantly found at least 2 that I loved. The girls are amazing and so helpful and knowledgable. I went back with those two dresses in mind when I went back a few months later, tried on the same dress and then tried on a few others. In those others was the most amazing, unexpected gorgeous dress. After my 10:30 appointment there, I went to two other stores but nothing could even come close to the detail, and fabric quality of what Sposa Bella had. I went back immediately and said yes to the dress. The owner, and the girl that works there brought out champaign and biscotti for us to celebrate. We ended up buying the one on the rack and got 10% off for buying the store sample. The amazing thing is that these designers aren't allowed to sell to anyone else in Michigan, and once they sell a dress to you they will not reorder that dress so that you are the only one in Michigan with that dress.
