So, it finally happened, after 220k miles, my transmission gave out on me after getting back from a long day at work, just my luck. My transmission would only grab the gears at a certain rpm and so what to do next? The truck still drove, but once stopped, have to put the truck into park and switch to drive, hoping all the while the gear would grab, even if it grabbed, it could only take me about a 1/4 mile at a time. I ended up finding sports transmission, which was relatively close to home, after a grueling slow trip to get there. Don and his brother really took care of my truck right away. I have a 4x4 truck and I was expecting it to be an expensive one, but these guys proved to be honest and even allowed me to check out the truck once in awhile while it was being worked on for the 2 weeks it was there. Which was really cool of them. Don explained step by step and also recommended some small upgrades. Such as, installing a separate transmission cooler which was a few hundred bucks more (parts and labor), mine originally was cooled through my radiator which was prone to intermixing with coolant and transmission fluid (there was a class action lawsuit about this against Nissan and Mercedes, you can look that up) however my truck didn't have this issue when the transmission failed, but it was a good recommendation and gave me peace of mind. He also found other problems lingering from my truck, some leaks and a bad o2 sensor wire, which they also fixed. I have nothing but gratitude for these guys for getting my truck fixed at a reasonable price. BTW, I wrote this review after a few months after getting the truck back, and the rebuilt transmission is still running strong. read more

I drop the car off on a Wednesday, and too my surprise I got a call that a few other things needed to be done an they asked if I wanted them done for just the cost of the parts. So it finally happened...my transmission gave up! Bad timing of course. I didn't know what to do. I was honestly on the verge of just selling my problem to someone else. I got a few quotes and prices were just double what I could honestly afford at the time. I left my truck parked for a couple of months and had to shop around for the best deal. I drove past this shop and said let me call them. I dealt with Willy, one of the most humble and honest mechanics that I've worked with in a long time. He was extremely knowledgeable and didn't want to just quote me on a rebuild right away. He said I want to check it right and know what the problem is so that hopefully we can save you some money here. That was definitely good with me.
