Richard saved the day WHEN HE WAS CLOSED a few weeks ago when my tire suddenly got a flat. I was about to get on the highway when I realized that my pressure was dropping quick and luckily I was able to pull over into Spooners. I brought my truck to Spooners for an alignment and left with a bad alignment and more problems then the truck originally had. My steering wheel cover is ruined from all the dirty hands. Beware, this testimony is for inexperienced tire buyers. Spooners offers good looking used tires for about $50. They would say, they'll charge only for labor so I bough a set. For the inexperienced as I was I though I got a deal and even tipped the employee nicely thinking that I'm set for a few years, the problem is, those tires are old, they could be 6,7,8 y/o and tires dry up and crack after 5 years specially the cheap asian ones and could result in a explosion when driving in hot paved roads and that risk multiplies in Florida for abvious reasons. I wish I was informed about that at the time of purchase. Spooners never told me about the potential risk, they were just happy to get my money... and yes!! the accident actually happened with one of those tires and I was blessed not to be hurt. When I reported to Spooners they said they guarantee them for only 30 days and that the deal they offer is for people to have little time to change for new tires... go figure!! read more

I called in search of a VERY RARE tire for my Mercedes-Benz. Richard was extremely hospitable over the phone and ensured me that he had the tire I needed when no other local tire shop had it in stock. Upon my arrival Richard's gracious hospitality continued and he soon produced the exact tire I needed in perfect condition. Mike the tech then promptly mounted and speed balanced my tire and installed it on my vehicle. Mike took his time and was very meticulous every step of the way. Mike ensured that my tire was correctly mounted and torqued according to the Mercedes-Benz specs. Mike then placed my spare tire back in my trunk, and return all of my personal items into my trunk. Mike issued me a detailed receipt and reiterated all of the warranty details. Consumer Alert:: Spooners Tires & Auto Repair owner Richard Newberry UPDATE: FEBRUARY 2016 Permanent credit refund from Credit Card Company Spooners Tires & Auto Repair 5582 66th St N, Saint Petersburg, FL 33709 Use another tire shop Please if this has happened to you contact the (FTC) Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Affairs and the Florida Department of Agriculture. You can file your complaint online I purchased 4 tires from Spooners Tires & Auto Repair in October 2015. I paid $160.00 and within a couple of days I was told by several people that these tires are bald and should have been in the trash. I did the penny test and the penny sat on the top of the tire wear bar (which Richard is the one that showed/told me about the tire wear bar). I immediately ordered new tires and as soon as they arrived I had these tires removed from my vehicle. It is legal in Florida for used tires like this to be sold but, if you get into an accident or caught with these tires on your vehicle (you) will get the hefty fine for having unsafe tires. The State Senate is trying to pass a law that bans used tires that have less than 2/3 thread left. Your complaints are what gets laws passed. If you have bald tires on the rear of your vehicle when it rains your vehicle could hydroplane and cause serious injuries if not death. THINK OF YOUR CHILDREN, FAMILY, FRIENDS THAT ARE GETTING SOLD TIRES LIKE THIS. I wish that I had thought to see if Spooners Tires had a facebook page which is under Richard Newberry very unprofessional not too mention disgusting comments and pictures. Richard does this "pay if forward" where Richard takes a video or picture of himself paying for someone's food then posts on facebook. Sorry but, that is self promotion. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE BUSINESS, DO NOT EVER GO HERE. I am a frequent customer as I own a small used car dealership, and I will say I have never had an issue until this atrocity. Brought in a Mercury Grand Marquis for a simple ALIGNMENT. No mechanical work, no nothing. I get the car back and suddenly it is sputtering and barely even running. Ask the guy about it and if he maybe hit something or made some sort of error, he denies it completely. After arguing for a good while, Spooner finally shows up and assesses the situation. His final response? "No I'm not gonna do anything about it, i'm an upstanding businessman and I do things right". Guess what Spooner? As a businessman myself, I know for a fact "upstanding businessmen" don't have to say that; they just are, and they FIX THINGS WHEN THEY MAKE A MISTAKE. What bothers me most is not that they wouldn't do anything, its that they lied. Flat out lied about making what I am sure was just an unfortunate mistake. Now I have the vehicle in an exhaust shop because it seems that they banged the exhaust while doing my alignment somehow. I would give 0 stars if I could, truly. If you ever meet anyone who has to say that they're an upstanding businessman out loud, you can bet your bottom dollar they are the exact opposite, as in this case. Bought a tire from this place, not even a month later, it blew out while I was driving on the highway. Found him via FB and told him about the issue and he said he will refund the money I paid. When I finally got to him for the refund he had a major attitude about it. He asked for the receipt in which I gave and when I asked for it back, he questioned why I would need it back like I was going to do something fraudulent with it. Next time I buy a tire, definitely won't be from this place. I prefer professionalism and an owner not constantly talking about my a** and other vulgar things. read more

This is the worst business i have ever seen. I got a used tire from these guys and it went flat the next day. When i took the tire back they replaced it with a tire that blew up after attempting to sell me another tire. The bad tire they sold did damage to my car that they refuse to compensate without civil action. The owner is rude and immature. I wouldn't recommend doing any business with this company. read more
