I called the Advance Auto Parts at 6220 4th St N in St. Petersburg because it was 7 p.m. and they close at 9 p.m. The man on the phone told me that all Advance Auto Parts close at 9 p.m. (which is untrue, because this one closes at 8 p.m.) and then started quizzing me about where I live because he didn't believe that his store was the closest. He then proceeded to tell me he may not replace my battery but instead recharge it, which would take 45 minutes. I think he just didn't want me to come in the store. Well, it definitely worked because when you're stressed about having a dead car battery, dealing with bad customer service is the last thing on your mind. Luckily this Advance Auto Parts is close to me too, so I switched gears and called them to make sure they had my battery available. I got there at about 7:30 p.m. and felt a little bad when I saw on the door that yes they did close at 8 p.m. Well, I wasn't going anywhere since my battery was dead! The employees there were super helpful! Luckily, my battery was under warranty so they replaced it free of cost! It was about 8:10 p.m. when I left, but I never felt rushed. The employee chatted happily with me while he replaced my car battery. They even apologized for the customer service I got at the other location! A little bit of niceness goes a long way in a stressful situation. I would definitely call ahead to any Advance Auto Parts you are thinking about going to. The level of customer service varies from store to store!

Driving down we were having trouble with our windshield wipers. We stop at the competition but immediately felt they were trying to up sell us and over charge us on things we did not need. So I remember the jingle we see in New York and drove by here when it was down pouring. Carl actually took his time and answered every single question my wife had. He presented three options to us high, mid, low with the pros and cons of each. He did not rush us and just made us feel comfortable to make an informed decision. We spoke about softball and baseball and found out he was from neck of the woods. - real solid, down to earth guy. Once we decided what we wanted, we were willing to wait a few hours on line to put the new wipers on but Carl jumped right on it and put them on immediately. No up sell, informed decision, friendly and wonderful customer service. Check out this auto parts store and have Carl take care of you. Tell him the New Yorkers say hi to him.
