Tame Dog Training

I'm SOOOO thankful for that rejection because there's no way they would've done what Tame did. I truly thought we were going to have to give up one of my girls because of fights. I've never had an issue with training in my 40+ years on this earth & was so disheartened. Tame turned that around. I have the tools now & knowledge of some new tricks to help me & most importantly them. We were lucky enough to get paired with Riley who was so prompt with communication. We did the long program & he (and his team) went above and beyond to put our minds at ease. Even after we brought her home they still answer our random questions. I live in the Ft. Worth area & can tell you the drive is worth it! Thank all of you guys so much for everything! I can never thank you enough!

Our busy lives simply didn't allow us to dedicate the time needed to properly train her ourselves. After two and a half weeks boarding at Tame, which was also a nice reset for us, we have a well trained dog that can easily fit into our busy household. We would highly recommend Tame and plan on using the boarding program going forward to reinforce the foundation they setup.

We'd had two precious Shelties who had passed on & our kids were young at the time. My husband didn't want to get a dog, but wanted the kids and I to be happy, so we finally convinced him. Being that my daughter has asthma & allergies, we decided to get a labradoodle. She was precious, we brought her home at 8 weeks. The first two weeks were harder than we had ever expected or remembered! She was jumping and nipping on the kids, which is totally a puppy thing, but I was constantly having to rescue my 5 year old. Potty training was not going well. She ate mulch and ended up with colitis. Then she got an ear infection. We were in a puppy nightmare! My husband was ready to give the dog away. My daughter was devastated. After a weekend of ups and downs, we decided we would pay A LOT OF MONEY for Hilton Butler, this month long program. We were sure this would help us get to the point where our puppy wasn't perfect (we didn't expect a miracle!), but had a few basics down that we could work on from there. She cried all night long in her crate. She chewed everything. It was either get her trained, and miss out on a month of sweet puppy growth, or lose her forever b/c puppy life was causing a lot of stress in our family. It was not what I ever envisioned! We were not a happier family with the addition! Christine talked to me at length when I called to inquire about the training. She made me feel like I didn't need to worry about it, that when we dropped Winnie off they would "fix" everything we were struggling with. She put me at ease that this would be a game changer. And at $2000, it should have been. I was so hopeful that we would be able to make it work and that I could make everyone happy. I dropped Winnie off, after a tearful goodbye from the kids, and my CC was charged as I exited the driveway. Communication from then on was awful. I only got 1 picture of her the entire month and that was after my request. Texts were not returned promptly. I got the excuse of a phone being turned off, or sometimes just no response at all. Very poor communication. But, you assume....hey, they are working on a lot of big stuff with these dogs and I'll be patient b/c I want this training to work. We saw her at the 2 week point for a visit and were not impressed. We left feeling like they had a ton of work to do in the two weeks left. However, we were still sure at this point that she would come home with some improvement. Surely all these reviews were true?? So many 5 star reviews online. We couldn't have a dog who came back to us untrained. She came home maybe 5% better than when we dropped her off. She cried again incessantly when crated. She jumped on the kids. She peed and pooped in the house. And this is when I was taking her out every 15 minutes!! Another concerning factor was that she lost 4 lbs while in their care. A puppy should not be losing 4 lbs in a month. We were happy to have her back because we missed her & loved her, but we were still back to where we were when she left. After a short time, my husband was done. He really isn't a jerk, it must sound that way, but he couldn't handle the dog destroying our house. He was in an awful mood and telling me that he didn't want to be this way, but that he just couldn't handle the stress of the dog along with the stress he is already under. And, I was under stress too. I wasn't sleeping b/c she cried all night long and peed in her crate unless I took her out every 2 hours at night. We found a wonderful family for her. But.....We are out $2000 & still don't have a dog. My son asks to visit her every day. It's heart wrenching. I'm still not over it Part of their services include follow up in home training. After a miserable week, we asked that Hilton come that Thursday to help. We were doing everything the manual said but she seemed to have little to no improvement. I think any improvement she showed was merely due to the fact she was a month older. My husband took off work early so he could be home when Hilton came. He was scheduled to come at 4:00. I sent Christine a text early that afternoon confirming that he was coming. No response. Then, about 6 minutes til 4:00, I get a voicemail that he was on his way to our house but had to turn around because he got sick at his stomach. I believe that is a lie. Only they know the truth, but I do not think he really got sick. We really are owed our money back. The only thing they taught her was the word "off". It was successful about 20% of the time and something I could have taught her myself in a month's time. Bottom line is, we were robbed of our money and ultimately our dog. I wouldn't recommend them to to my worst enemy. They just want your money. They'll make great promises, but you'll get poor communication and there's no guarantee your dog will gain any skills.

Cheryl is the best. Seriously. We heard about her from a friend and when we meet for our free…read moreevaluation I knew she was gonna be our trainer. We live in Lake Stevens which is out of her travel range so we met at McCollum park in Everett for our sessions. We have a 6 month old Whippet and the web is full of information about how Whippets are not motivated to be trained, can never be trusted off leash, no training collars (they have thin necks), are very sensitive, etc. After reading all this I was left bewildered. I had trained our previous dog (Lab) but I felt like nothing I knew before would work on this dog and I hadn't even started! Cheryl put my mind at ease. She felt that a balanced approach (a gentler training collar with lots of positive reinforcement) was the way to go and how a dog is trained and what it can and can't do is up to the individual dog and its owner. We signed up for her Silver package and met twice a week for 5 weeks. After our first lesson I was so pleased I could cry. Just that lesson taught Dobby not to pull which was his biggest issue. From there he learned sit, down, come, place, heel, stay, not to jump up on people and just how to generally pay attention to me more than his surroundings. Its tough for him as Sighthounds see everything and are intensely interested. But he's come so so far. Cheryl never lost her cool, never lost her patience and she had a solution for every issue that came up. I had to bring my 4 kids numerous times as we homeschool and she was never (visibly) annoyed, even though they were sometimes quite annoying :) We did end up using an electronic collar and our last few sessions involved working with him on that. He has begun work off leash using this collar. It also helps make corrections at home when he doesn't have a leash on and is far away. I would recommend using the e-collar option if it fits into your budget. Its been really nice. I can't recommend Cheryl highly enough. We really enjoyed our time with her and Duke and her impact on Dobby and us will last a very long time. She enabled us to have a well-behaved dog that we can take anywhere. That's priceless.

We sent our dog JULY  for their four weeks program and had a wonderful experience with the dog training program. When I attended the initial consultation, I was amazed by how large, clean, and over-the-top the facility was. The talk lasted 30 minutes, and we spoke for almost one 1hour. They were patient, and we explained all our goals, which we wanted our July to be trained on. Tyler worked with July. We received daily "Pupdates" and report cards that included videos, photos, and an overall update on his improvement. I could tell Tyler cared about July as if he was his doggie. We are so proud and thrilled about the progress July has made. TRULY AMAZING! July's confidence built up, and his personality came through by the end of the 4-week board and train program. We can't wait to attend group classes and continue to board and bring him back to see the K-9 Culture team! I Recommend K-9 Culture to anyone looking for training for their doggie. Thank you, K-9 team & Tyler, for all your hard work.

Being a husky mix we shouldn't have been surprised. We did 4 sessions with Dawn and she helped us with the basic commands and we saw a major change in Alphie. He listens to us so well now and is more responsive to our commands. We are still working on the leash reactivity, but he is slowly improving. The main thing was that Dawn gave us the tools to calm him and/or distract him when he gets into a reactive situation. We are hopeful he is going to get much better. Repetition and routine is key. Dawn was amazing to work with. We went to her house twice for the training and she had an awesome yard for Alphie to run around in, and we got to see how amazing he is off the leash with her dogs, which was so fun to see. Thank you Dawn!!

After taking them both to work with Dawn several times we made great progress. I've had several other typical puppy training issues and each time Dawn has helped me understand why they are happening and what to do about them. We still take Leia to board with Dawn when we are away- Dawn just mixed her right in with all the other dogs so she can have fun and play, spend time outside, and enjoy the other people around. I would choose this over a kennel atmosphere anytime! And as a bonus, Dawn works on training reminders with Leia while she boards her, so I get a refreshed dog when I return! Dawn is the BEST!
