Nice place, with ample seating and conveniently located. Parking is easy to get on the street. The server was not so attentive to our orders and kind of messed up the order. We had specifically asked, and checked twice if it was possible to get a wheat toast instead of muffin for our benedict, and still when the order came in, we didnt get the wheat toast. The service was a little slow and on complaining about the mess up of the order, no apology or acknowledgement was given to us. The restroom is clean and overall food and drinks were good. read more

We actually were never served or got to enjoy anything here. Walked in and it wasn't too busy, probably 5 tables for 2 servers and it was seat yourself. We sat next to a family. We were never greeted, never given menus or waters etc for 20 minutes. We have two kids and so figured it was bad to continue to wait. The family next to us agreed, as they waited 1.5 hours and still hadn't gotten food. I won't be returning. And I'm local. Bummer. This is such a cool spot for breakfast and coffee. We decided to stop in for breakfast before going to the airport. The staff were super friendly and always made sure our water and coffee was full (I love it when that happens). The food was your standard diner style breakfast/lunch food but the coffee was probably my favorite part of the meal. I don't know what it was but it really hit the spot. It was reading 66 degrees. Almost every table had register above the table. I asked Skye(???) to raise the temp to 70 but she refused to change it. The walls decorated with local photographers and the black and white images of the history of this building. Wide and open, sit at the booth facing the antique bar to get a sense of the local vibe and people watching. Service is friendly and sweet. Menu has a diverse variety of delicious food. I ordered the California Eggs Benedict with a side of bernaise sauce, did not disappoint. There was no crumb left on our plates, well maybe some potatoes. Finger lick-in good. Stopped here after a doctors appointment and saw it from the Main road down the side street. It was still breakfast and we were very hungry. Great atmosphere it was as s really old building and a lot of seats available we chose a window seat at a high top table. The waitress attentive and prompt. I just had a poached egg and toast and my husband got the bacon, eggs and hash browns. It was all very tasty although nothing original. Menu was simple but a big enough selection. Glad we went! The restaurant you can tell has lots of history. Original building, ceilings, walls and even they found an old 48 star flag in the rafters. Everyone there is beyond nice. Just be mindful...if you are in a hurry...don't go! We went on a Sunday morning around 10am and it took quite some time to be seated, orders taken, served and for bill to make it to us. Lots of tables available, but so slow to be bussed so could not be seated. There is really no rhyme or reason on how they do things. Not sure if they were short staffed which could have hampered things. Granted, I am used to Seattle restaurants that flip tables faster than you can eat sometimes!! So I had to remind myself that I was not in a fast paced, stressed out city, but rather a laid back, friendly, enjoy your time kind of town. My family and I enjoyed our food minus one hiccup of mushrooms being in my scramble when they do not have them listed on the menu. Mushrooms are a NO GO for me, so I picked them out as best I could. Waitress, did acknowledge this and gave me 50% off my meal, which I was not expecting, but appreciative. It's very cozy! Ordered a pumpkin latte with oat milk and it was very good. It came out quick, but wasn't very hot. I had the classic eggs benedict with hashbrowns. Hashbrowns were fresh cut, crisp, and delicious! The hollandaise sauce was bland, but the eggs were cooked to perfection. I wouldn't order it again, but they have lots on the menu to choose from. What a nice breakfast place I stumbled into on my walk from the hotel! Friendly staff, relaxing environment, and great food. I consider myself somewhat of a biscuits and sausage gravy connoisseur. After the terrible breakfast six months ago we gave SR a second chance. Sadly, this is the last. Prime rib dinner was really a choice rib roast at best. Not tender, not juicy as a true prime rib would be. Baked potato was good. Ordered a bottle of wine. Server brought wine glasses. Man behind bar literally walks over with bottle, dropped on table and did about face in a second. NO offer to open bottle, taste, or pour. When we lived in Kalispell Split Rock was our go-to breakfast spot! We recently visited (2 weeks ago) and of course we had to pop in! My favorite is the Second Street Burrito with potatoes. My 2nd favorite option is the California Benedict + bacon with potatoes. My husband loves their french toast. Their hollandaise is fantastic! Their potatoes are fantastic! We love their drip coffee. Atmosphere : They are a very family-friendly restaurant. The bathroom has always been clean. They play great music. Overall, we have always had great experiences! Oh, and an FYI, if you're ordering for pick-up and the dish you choose has hollandaise - just ask for it to be on the side so your food doesn't come soggy! :) read more

Pancakes: 4.5* We always are always on the lookout for excellent pancakes when we travel, and in the West Glacier area, these have been the !best! we've found! Crisp edges, ~not~ rubbery, with a good overall-flavor that didn't require syrup, but the syrup sure did enhanced the flavors! Burger: 3* The burger was a mixed bag; they make the patties in-house, so yum! But while we requested it MR and received it WD, so it was kinda dry and tough. The bun was ok, not great; at least it was structurally sound. There was a limp piece of lettuce and no tomato. Biscuits with Cayenne Sausage White Gravy: 4* The biscuits were far too firm (rewarmed too many times?); however, the gravy was -super- tasty and flavorful (at least until it got cold) Bacon: 5* Perfectly sliced: thin w/out falling apart in your fingers. Split Rock has been under new ownership since February 2015. Prior to the new ownership, we had a bad experience and then a good one, but we still had not put Split Rock on our breakfast and lunch rounds because the bad experience was just so bad. We went again yesterday and Split Rock has officially redeemed themselves. Thank you to the new owners for taking over, because this is such a beautiful spot for a restaurant. We were in and out in 45 minutes with a California Beni and Soup and Salad Combo. All for 16.70. Terrific, historical brick building. Terrific ambiance and decor. Beautiful stained glass and a big old wooden back bar. We had the Garden Scramble with country potatoes and sourdough bread. The scramble came with a generous amount and variety of veggies. Would have liked the sourdough to be toasted on both sides. We asked for darkened toast and it wasn't that either.
