I was here for the Eagan Indoor Market (select Wednesdays) being held in one of the gathering rooms on the lower level. It was a bit smaller than I'd been anticipating from the list of vendors on the website, but it was still nice to browse local small businesses, and I'm glad the community center makes the time and space for folks to do so. While there, I scoped out what appeared to be the "main attraction" so to speak, the fitness center, which has a large gymnasium, equipment, and an indoor track. They had plenty of showers, bathrooms, water fountain/bottle refill station, coat racks, vending machines with beverages and snacks, and a place to get changed and such. Seems really nice, but the pricing online seemed a bit steep to me ($40/mo.); a shame, my husband and I have been looking for an indoor track so we can run in the winter without worrying about slipping on the ice! There's also an indoor kids playplace ($8 fee) on the upper level and a senior center on the lower level. So they are trying to cater to all ages here. The parking lot is quite sizable, so no worries about finding a place to park (unless of course there's a big event going on at the festival grounds!). There are plenty of outdoor amenities in the surrounding Eagan Central Park too, such as a kid's playground, splash pad, fitness course, walking paths, and bandshell. There's also a postbox near the entrance of the building if you need to drop off some mail while you're here.

I wish the space was a little bigger as it can get a little crowded in the little space in front of the gym but all in all had a great time. Easy access to bathrooms near by as well along with a small party room connected.

The road the park is off of, Butler Avenue , is extremely busy for a little two-lane road (everyone apparently uses it to get to highway 52), but once you pull in, it's like a sigh of relief. Nice big parking lot can accommodate lots of vehicles, if you are visiting by car. There's a big bathroom facility right there at the entrance (that's even open during the winter!) with additional tables and grills for picnicers. The lake is just a short distance away, and there's a short trail that goes all the way around it; very picturesque! Additional trails will take you through more landscape and trees (all paved and in great condition), and even over highway 52 into the adjacent park (Kaposia) and further to Simon's Ravine Trailhead, if you're up to it! Truly excellent to have the option to really stretch your legs and go some distance. If you're not here for hiking, there's also an impressively-sized kiddie park that's modern and has some fun unique play structures. (Legit, I wanted to go play on it and I'm 38 1/2.) I think it might've included a small splash pad, but I couldn't be certain in the winter. I spotted some tables with built-in chess/checkers boards, as well as some additional picnic tables. A pier that extends into the lake for fishers. By the kid park there's another large building with external-facing restrooms, and the building itself looks like it gets used for classes or something if you're there at the right season. Seriously, what a great resource for the neighboring communities! If I do move nearby, this would be an excellent spot to be able to relax, play, and exercise.

Also the Milano Mule was only $11, a great price for a cocktail anywhere these days! It was really busy, even without an event downtown. Our server was attentive and friendly. And service was quick. They had an automated attendant that was a little frustrating to work around as we wanted to ask questions. Getting to a real person took awhile and we were pretty frustrated by the time we got through. We decided to just show up and take our chances and we are so glad we did. The dining room had an hour wait but we were able to sit in the bar area immediately. The bar area consisted of numerous booths and feels less like a bar and more like a distinguished upgrade of an Applebees. The staff was so attentive and everything came out so quickly. We tried the pizza fries - expecting a version of cheese pizza cut in strips. Imagine our surprise and delight when what was delivered was soft, squishy dough with sweet tomatoey pizza sauce arrived. It was amazing! The last bite was barely made when our entrees arrived, piping hot. We tried the pasta pesto with chicken and the chicken parm. Both were perfectly cooked and had such fresh, homemade flavors! Accompanied by the world's softest bread and flavored butter. The portions were huge and we brought more home than what we ate. The server was a highlight. So amazing and attentive. The staff worked together to provide an excellent experience - keeping drinks filled, clearing plates as they emptied, making sure we felt seen. All in all, we will be back. The only negative was that irritating phone attendant. It doesn't represent the kind of service you will receive once you arrive. Don't let it scare you off!
