This was one of the most frustrating car buying experiences I've had. I was actively working a deal on a Chevy Equinox EV from out of state and made it very clear I was serious -- we discussed out-the-door pricing, confirmed details like the charger and paperwork, and I was literally preparing to drive 7 hours early the next morning with my dad to complete the purchase. At no point was I told there was another buyer actively purchasing the vehicle. Instead, I was led to believe the car was available and that we were moving forward. Then, right after confirming final details, I was suddenly told the vehicle was "in the process of selling." I completely understand first-come, first-served -- that's not the issue. The issue is the lack of transparency. If another buyer was ahead of me, that should have been clearly communicated so I could have made an informed decision (like putting down a deposit immediately). This isn't the first time I've had this happen during my search, but this was by far the most poorly handled. If you're an out-of-state buyer, be very cautious. Don't make plans or assume anything is yours unless you have it locked down in writing. Very disappointing experience. read more

I bought a 2016 Ford Flex in February from here, came back 3 days later due to the back end making a really bad noise. I was told by the sales associate that sold me the car that the manager said since it was sold as is that there was nothing they could do for me, here it is 5 months later noise is still bad, rear back up camera stopped working, my a/c switches back to heat by itself ,carfax showed there was no accidents. My hood was painted and is not aligned properly, the rear end was also hit, tailgate is off, bumber and rear quarter panel has slight paint peeling and the roof has been painted found fish eye in the paint. There is no way the dealership wasn't aware it was involved in an accident. Sales person was good manager not so much. Definitely wouldn't recommend purchasing a used vehicle from here and if you do look over the car very good. Today is 8/3/2025. I replied with my number and info on this as requested and still have not recieved any reply back. I took my vehicle to a shop to have it looked over and they stated that in fact this vehicle was in fact in an accident hit from the front and back hence why I'm having the issues. I recently had my Jeep serviced at this dealership for an AC repair, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. The repair took 10 days because my Jeep was left off the service schedule after the parts arrived. Instead of being upfront about the mistake, I was told the parts had not come in until several days later. When I picked up my vehicle, staff admitted that the parts had been there all along and the delay was due to scheduling oversight. When I finally got my Jeep back, the interior smelled strongly of burnt rubber/plastic, black debris was left on the floor mats, and I discovered that the driver-side door seal had been torn during the repair. I provided before-and-after photos of the damage to the dealership on 9/2/25, yet weeks later I still have not received any follow-up from the Service Director despite being told multiple times they would be in touch. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and communication is unacceptable. I specifically went to the dealership expecting a higher level of service and care for my vehicle. I brought my vehicle in due to a noise and vibration coming from the front end (potentially a hub issue, but the exact problem remained unknown). After diagnostics, it was determined that the rear coil springs and struts needed replacement, along with the negative battery cable, which was severely corroded and also required replacement. However, the noise and vibration persisted after the repairs, with a note stating it could be a "wheel or hub problem" and advising me to "bring it back if it gets worse." This same vehicle was serviced at this facility in May, where an oil change, cooling service, fuel system service, tire sensors, and brake work were completed. During that time, a "27-point preventative maintenance inspection" was performed, and no issues were flagged. Yet, less than four months later, I was told the vehicle had over $2,500 in maintenance needs. I spoke to both the service advisor and supervisor, but the only explanation provided was that "a lot can happen to a car in four months." At the very least, the significant corrosion on the negative battery cable should have been noticed during the oil change and inspection. I have been bringing my vehicle to this service center since I purchased it six years ago, and this dealership is where I bought the vehicle, with plans to purchase future ones. However, this recent experience has made me question the trust I've placed in this dealership, and I'm unsure if I want to continue doing business here in the future. read more

GMC has acknowledged this problem but hasn't issued a recall, only a "technical service bulletin" (which from what I can tell saves them money by making customers pay for the fix instead of doing a recall) This locations service department refuses to take financial responsibility for fixing their companies known issue because according to the service representative they can only do what GMC tells them to do. Please. You could fix a car that your company made in a faulty manner without permission from big daddy if you wanted to. I brought my car in on Thursday morning as my check engine light came on the evening prior. On Thursday, I received communication via text, email, and by phone regarding the identified issue with my car, estimated time of repair, and cost. Unfortunately, the check engine light came back on Thursday evening so I returned to the dealership on Friday morning, dropping the car off by 8am. Throughout Friday, I received NO communication about my vehicle. I called at regular intervals to check on the status of my car because I thought it was odd that no one could tell me what was happening and that no one advised regarding whatever the issue was or to ask me to authorize any repairs. During the last call I placed I was told that my car could not be found and that they could call me back when they figured out what was going on. 90 minutes passed and still no one called. When I arrived to the dealership, my car was sitting in the lot. As I approached the cashier, she did not have the key to my vehicle or any paperwork ready. At this point, someone named Justin appears with my key to tell me that this situation was "just placed in his lap" so he didn't know what was going on. He explained that the service manager would come answer my questions. Why send Justin at all? Very odd. At this time, the service manager preferred to busy himself by wiping down another vehicle - despite there being several other employees around who could have handled such a menial task. His explanation for the lack of communication is that there was "confusion" because the person who was assigned to my car went home early. There are no protocols or systems in place in the event that one employee leaves early? An employee leaving early means you make repairs without advising or requesting authorization from the car owner? An employee leaving early means NO ONE else in the facility knows what is going on? Do you have any idea how disconcerting it is to be told the dealership where you dropped off your car cannot find it? I called the dealership no less than 4 times on Friday and yet there was ZERO outgoing calls to me. This was not confusion, this was simple incompetence and mismanagement, and there is no excuse for such things. Do better. (And it looks like Barry A. responds to all negative reviews, usually somewhat defensively. In this case, I'm hoping he doesn't bother unless it's to say "yep, we dropped the ball" otherwise spare me and go spend the time it would take to type a response training your staff instead, they clearly need it.) UPDATE: Two days later, the check engine light is back on. Incompetence at its finest. ANOTHER UPDATE: I'm disregarding Barry's comment below because it's irrelevant except to say that my reaction in the service lane was well deserved so you're welcome for the free training opportunity - but wait, it wasn't free, it was a $700+. My car was entirely misdiagnosed by this incompetent service department. When I took my car to the service department on Thursday, I told them it was a turbo issue - because AutoZone checked things out for me. I purchased a new Sierra truck from Axelrod in September, 2015. Since then I have been repeatedly lied to. At the time I purchased my truck, Suzie Axelrod suggested that I purchase a 10 year extended warranty. I agreed and signed the agreement. Recently, I traded my truck and cancelled the extended warranty. Upon receiving the pro rated amount I noticed a $50 early cancellation fee was charged to me. Nowhere in the agreement that I signed is there any mention of a cancellation fee. I called Axelrod and spoke to Jamie. She told me that there were 5 pages to the agreement and that the cancellation fee was on page 4. After we both reviewed the content of each page, Jamie couldn't find the cancellation fee either. She told me that she would look into the matter an call me back. A half hour later she called me and said there are 4 pages to the agreement. (Now her story has changed). She told me to take this matter up with Mitchell Axelrod. I met with Mitchell and he provided a 4 page document that did not have my signature on it. The only signature of mine was on a one page document followed by 5 pages of covered repairs, that I provided. Then Mitchell told me that they don't keep records for more than 7 years. Axelrod sold me a 10 year extended warranty and Mitchell Axelrod is telling me that they don't have the original records. The agreement he has does not have my signature on it to prove that I agreed to a $50 cancellation fee. Mitchell then told me to take this matter up with the insurance company (Zurick). and then he told me that Zurick wouldn't refund the $50 anyway. I told Mitchell that his dealership sold me the warranty, they took my money and they refunded the pro rated amount minus $50. Mitchell Axelrod refused to honor the agreement that his dealership sold me. $50 isn't a lot of money however, the repeated lies that this dealership spews needs to be brought to potential customers. Shortly after purchasing my truck, Brett was suppose to call me about an issue I had with the bedliner. He ignored me for 2 weeks until finally Axelrod had to pull the bed of the truck off to inspect for damage. If I had to take my truck in for repairs, I would have to go back 3 - 4 times for the same problems before they would fix it. They did provide a courtesy ride to and from the dealership however, the young man that was driving was weaving in and out of heavy traffic on the highway, sometimes reaching speeds in excess of 20 miles an hour over the speed limit. A couple of years ago, I could no longer trust their service department and started going to another dealership, knowing that by contract I would have to pay $100 deductible for covered repairs. If I went back to Axelrod, the deductible would have been $0. I decided it was better for me to travel further to another dealership and pay $100, then to waste my time with lies and gross incompetence at Axelrod. I have been purchasing cars and trucks from dealerships for over 40 years. Axelrod is by far the worst of them all. They are liars, thieves and crooks. DON'T BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY! Response to Axelrod Lies. You state that I yelled at the finance manager. Funny you never mentioned this to the BBB. I spoke to your finance director on the phone before coming into your dealership to talk with Mitchell. If your statement was true, Why did Mitchell invite me to come to your dealership and talk with him? Why did he invite me at all? In fact, Mitchell and I were alone in his office. It makes no sense. One would think that if a customer was yelling at the finance manager, he or she would be considered a threat and would not be invited into that place of business. If a customer was to come to a business after yelling at the finance manager, I would think that the police would have been called for safety. Where's the police report? This is just another outrageous lie. You now admit that you could have "helped me get the $50 back". That's because as I have said, you do not have the contract that I signed and you already admitted that to the BBB. I provided the BBB with the signed contract and there is NO cancellation fee. You sold me the warranty. You took my money. You refunded me my pro rated amount minus $50. Your dealership is responsible for making me and all your customers whole. You stated that I could go further with honey than vinegar. WOW!!! This is your response. You expect me and your customers to bend the knee for services you're suppose to provide. Service Dept is terrible. They incorrectly "repaired" our ac line, claiming it to be the GM approved repair. Funny how no one else in the industry can corroborate this "fix". The so called "approved" repair has failed and they are trying to charge us more to "fix" it the second time than the first time they did it. And don't bother making an appointment either. We had an 8am appointment. 3pm rolls around and I have to call only to be told it has not even been looked at. They kept the vehicle another day and I had to call AGAIN around 2pm to be told it still hadn't been looked at. Please avoid this dealership... I will say the salesman Chris Volpe was one of best I've ever dealt with but management and ownership is a joke. I purchased a brand new 2018 Sierra Denali. About a week later, I noticed that there were swirl marks covering the entire truck. I mean head to toe swirl marks/scratches. After I had seen the truck in person at the dealership for the test drive, they took the truck to detail and someone had to grab a dirty rag and wipe it down. I let the salesman know right away I brought the truck in and they could see the marks and agreed to have it detailed by the company that comes to the dealership. Upon inspecting the truck when picking it up, it was not close to acceptable for a brand new truck. The sales manager (name unrecalled) who said "well, it is a truck" and "it is black" This is a brand new $65,000 vehicle; saying it is a truck, like it's a work truck, is beyond insulting after spending $65,000. They agreed to have their body shop work on it. While most of the truck was better, the roof and hood were still a mess and I paid $500 out of pocket to get a real professional. Also, this was a 3 week process. During this time, I found out that my registration they did was wrong and I was driving the truck illegally for over a month prior to bringing it in. Lastly, I purchased the extended warranty and they indicated I could cancel and get a refund at anytime. It took almost 4 months to get refund. I wrote the owner and he didnt even have the guts to call me. He had a manager call who indicated the owner read the email. Long story short, they tried to claim it was registered correctly. It was not since I never had temp plates and I sent a follow up email with a text message showing proof. No response. The manager also kept saying "all I can offer is a year of oil changes." Lol, the truck has a year of changes. Please just stay clear of this poorly run place. Response below to Berry.... I didnt save any money buying at your dealership, where is this coming from??? I get GMC employee discount and get the same price bottom dollar price anywhere I buy. I came to dealership because I used a car app and you had exact truck I wanted. Ok, so here's the deal. Bought the car, drove off the lot and saw that the right blinker was out. Took it back to the dealership because we hadn't left the area yet. Eric, our sales guy took it to the back for 5-8 minutes and brought it back to the front and said, "They didn't even have to change the bulb." I asked what the issue was and he said it might have been the cold weather or what have you. Cool. Thought nothing of it. Until LATER that night, our blinker was out again. I decided to make an appointment to have it checked out. I took it to a Certified dealer on my side of town. The warranty that we have is a joke - that's #1. #2, not sure if the first dealership was honest with us. If they looked at it, they would have seen the issue. #3, we had to pay half ($92) because a light bulb was out and "is not covered by warranty". So essentially, we had to pay $92 because a light bulb was "out". Weird though because the guy at the dealership previously said, "We didn't even have to change the light bulb." Hmmm. Not going to accuse them of shady practices but let's just say next time I have an issue with my car (aside from huge issues like engine, transmission, etc.). I will be going else where. I feel as one or both parties jerked me around. And that's the crazy thing about it because they did fix the wheel issue, why not fix the wire issue as well??? Disappointed. read more

Just signed my second lease with Axelrod and am staying with them because I'm very pleased with the terms of the lease for the car I wanted and the respect for the customer they showed me. No longer do you test drive with a salesman in the vehicle with you. Now, you test drive your potential new vehicle by taking it out for a spin. Then, if you're interested further, you take the vehicle home overnight. When I brought the car back to the dealership, my salesman was very motivated to close the deal and we arrived at an acceptable price. The Axelrod Buick GMC Service Department is incredible! Even though I was offered quite a bit more for my previous vehicle (a 2012 Buick Lacrosse) by another nearby dealership, it was the reputation of the Service Department at Axelrod that influenced me to "leave the money on the table" that the other dealership was offering me, and trade my vehicle in for a new 2018 Terrain at Axelrod. Specifically, I appreciate that Paula (the Customer Service Cashier), always finds a way to get me an appointment that meets MY schedule, and not just the dealership's. And, Dorothy (the Service Advisor), greets me like I am a member of her own family, and gets me checked in promptly and makes sure that my Terrain is serviced correctly. Finally, and very importantly, Ryan (the Service Department Manager), is obsessed with ensuring that all my (and all customers') service needs are met. On my most recent visit for routine service, I declined a complimentary vehicle wash because I have a bike rack that is hitch-mounted, and I personally did not want to remove it for the car wash. Well, Ryan took it upon himself, with my permission, to remove the rack, have my vehicle washed, and then he replaced the rack. He told me that he was not about to have my vehicle leave his dealership without having been washed. Talk about pride in workmanship, and talk about pride in your dealership! Awful experience. Basically lied about everything to sell me the car and then delivered on none of it after the paperwork was signed. I bought a $83,000 truck with the promise that they will have a panoramic sun roof installed. After I sign the paperwork, the salesperson tells me they've actually had the truck I was looking for all along, but they promised it to someone else but I would be able to swap the the trucks if the person didn't show up, at no charge, instead of having a 3rd party install a panoramic sun roof. The person never showed up and when the salesman, Chad, explained to the sales manager, Jim, that I was promised a swap out if the person didn't show up, Jim became very hostile and was basically screaming that there was no way he was letting me out of the deal, which i never asked to back out of the deal. After Chad reminded Jim that I was promised a panoramic sun roof be installed, Jim acted as if Chad and I were both insane and he never would've agreed to that, even though he explained to the both us that a place named Finish Line would easily be able to install a panoramic sun roof at no charge if that's what was holding me back from making the purchase. After Jim finally remembered that he and Chad both made these promises, he reluctantly stopped the transaction, while simultaneously having me sign the paperwork for the truck with the Panoramic sun roof. They charged me an additional $10,000 and raised the apr. A truly awful experience. read more

WARNING!, STOP!!, PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!! If you are looking to get the most uncomfortable buying experience of your life then you have found the right dealership for you! I went to purchase a truck from Axelrod Buick on 12/22/20 for my business with a check in my hand ready to go. I was not there to negotiate on price, I had a need for this vehicle they had and I wanted it. I was treated like a child, talked down to, and belittled, if the used car market wasn't so scarce I would have walked out. After waiting for 2 hours to do the paperwork with the finance lady. Where I was never offered a coffee, or a water, horrible customer service. Did I mention I had a check-in hand I was paying cash for this vehicle! Why it took 2 hours to sign for this was beyond me. I signed a stack of papers, one of them I was told after leaving a poor performance review was a document stating that I can't leave a negative review of my experience, that's telling if you ask me. Which is a violation of the Consumer Review Act in 2016. I was never given a copy of that, and to tell the truth I was never given any paperwork when I left, which I felt was odd. They told me they would call me when my check cleared so I could pick up my vehicle. I had to ask the finance lady for some type of receipt, come on I just handed you a large check. I need some proof that this transaction happened. I know that this was (3) days before Christmas, but you can't tell me in this day of technology that you have no way of fund verification on the spot. This transaction started at 3:00 pm. I'm a small business owner and I have a check reader to alert me if the funds are available, how does a car dealership not possess this technology? I repeatedly called after Christmas to see if they were issued payment from my bank. I was told that I need to call my bank to see if the money was removed and bring them a copy of that document to get my vehicle released to me, odd don't you think? When I finally did this on 12/29/20 by the bank showed me that the check was cashed on 12/22/20, the day I handed them the check. Then I was pushed back picking it up because they had to get it ready, You had this vehicle for 8 days! So were they just playing games with me or do they just don't know what they're doing? Brandon was my sales rep. He was professional and knowledgeable. My mom and I went in on a Sunday and test drove 2 vehicles. I ended up taking one home for the night to drive it longer and think about it. I went back the next day to return it, talked about my concerns and we ended up coming to an agreement. Brandon was never pushy or arrogant like some reps can be. There wasn't a lot of back and forth on trying to come to a deal. Then I worked with Susie for the financial paperwork. She is part of the Axelrod family. She was also professional, knowledgeable and not-pushy which I appreciate. Lastly I worked with Sofia on the overview of the internal buttons and perks on the car. Worst service possible. Had car repair done last year and everything done by axelrod had to be fixed again. O ring on gas tank was reused and tank had to get service again by a better place. They test drove the car over a hundred miles on a bad alignment. Save your money and go to a reputable repair shop. By the way service agent Dorthy promised to have coolant flushed and fill and wheel alignment all included to cost. I have had 3 things fixed that was from the work of Axelrod and to look at their warranty work the shop wanted me to pay up front 600 for a job they did read more

Axelrod Buick GMC is the one of the best dealers in the midwest. I called late on a Thursday night, on a particular used vehicle that was advertised, and I spoke to Mitchell Axelrod. He was extremely pleasant, and got me all the info I requested on the vehicle as promised. We are over 100 miles away a 3 hour car ride, so ultimately we went to a dealer closer, but only for time's sake. The extra drive would have been worth it. Was very excited to buy my first car here...until it only lasted me 15 months. Power steering went out with suspension frame and I took extremely good car of it since it was an 09. Yes, this can be expected with older cars but the way Axelrod handled it couldn't have been more disappointing. We returned to them to find a new car after a promise to "make things right" since my car only lasted 15 months-which I as a 23 year old put a lot of my own savings into. Upon returning to find a new car (even after feeling like I got screwed over), my family and I decided to give them another chance. At no point did they offer us a better trade in value or lowered value of a another used car from them. The sales team and management couldn't have been more uninterested in our conversations about our frustrations and seemed to write us off. They were not trying to make it right, only trying to make another deal and probably screw us over again. Instead, we went to Ganely Chevy of Aurora instead and was offered a trade in value that was 1500 more than Axelrod and they gave us a deal on another used car. I bought a GMC Terrain from JT about 18 months ago. Any time I've had an issue, it's always been appropriately taken care of by the entire staff at Axelrod. I think I got a fair price on a Certified Used Vehicle, and have been generally pretty happy with my purchase. The service department has always treated me respectfully, and I really appreciate the car washes. i've recommended people to Axelrod before, and will continue to do so. My only complaint is that it sometimes takes a while to get an appointment to be serviced. It's pretty common for them to be booked a week or two in advance.
