Gave me the rookie orientation of where everything was and went out of his way to inspect the allocated inventory to see if there was any hidden treasure there. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the property and the house rule that most everything is available for a taste to ensure you really want your invest in the bottle you've been eyeing. Classy stuff right there. What I found especially piquant was their shelf of bitters. I shared how I usually prepare my old fashioned and it was recommended (which I concurred with) a Turkish Tabacco concoction that just looks, tastes and smells out of sight - will report back on that one soonest. Spiritworld, as the name would indicate, offers a wide variety of liquors...but also with a full bar inside that offers small lunch options. It really is a great place to roam the aisles looking at the wide variety of tequilas, whiskeys, wines, or whatever your vice happens to be. The layout is simple, inviting, and well executed. It is quite easy to find whatever you are looking for, and if you can't, there are plenty of experts on hand to help with finding a certain bottle, or giving a recommendation. If you can't find something to please you here, you are in trouble of finding it. The only drawback is it slightly above average prices. One of my favorite whiskeys ran about 10-15% above other places I could find it...however, for the convenience of Spirit World having EVERYTHING in one place, I understand the slightly raised prices on lower-end liquors. However, they've stepped up their game (maybe I'm just behind), but they are also well stocked when it comes to varieties of well known alcoholic brands, and their bartenders are more than eager to make you a specialty drink to your liking. My husband is always happy to find a bartender who's open to challenge by making him a specialty drink. It's a win-win situation. I stop in here once a year when I'm in Omaha. The last few times I would walk out with at least 2-3 bottles. Mostly some good dry reds, barrel pick bourbons, and IPA 6ers, we like to browse so this store is great. This time around the prices were so much higher than your neighborhood grocery store. I'm talking $15-$20 more on a bottle I saw at Hy-Vee for $42. Staff are friendly and always helpful here. 4* is strictly for price, otherwise if you want high quality with a good selection this is your store. Ambiance and layout; store is open concept with 4' high wine racks in the middle. Concrete stained floors, good lighting, easy to shop. Well organized. There is a bar on one side of the store that you can try different beverages. A couple places to sit along with some tables you could study or work on. Pricing here might be a dollar or two more than hyvee or some gas station, but the selection is pretty good, esp for wine. In a word, this place is very hipster. That's the entire vibe you get from the time you walk in until the time you walk out. Not just an alcohol store, this place also offers a small conference area, a buffet area, its own bar, and much more. It really isn't just designed as a "grab a bottle of alcohol and go". It's more of an entire alcoholic experience. As it's located directly across from the stadium, that makes sense that they'd want to provide food and other options for game-goers. The selection isn't gigantic, but it isn't bad. Way over what you'll find at a grocery store, but it's about on-par with some of the Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits selections in terms of size. However, it's different in terms of content. One of the patrons in my party said: "They basically only sell the things I'd want to buy in the first place", and I'd consider that accurate. Very little space was devoted to beers like Bud Light or to any of the lower-end wines. They still had affordable options, but I don't think I saw a single $3 bottle of wine. Lots of craft beer and nice wine and alcohol options here. Fantastic staff too. Very friendly and were happy to point me towards anything I wanted. I'm unsure how much they knew about a lot of alcohols, but they did seem to know a ton about the selection and where things were located. They seemed very knowledgeable, but I didn't ask for recommendations, so I can't comment on that. Finding things can be a bit hard. Once you're familiar with the place, I'm sure it's not too much of an issue, but we had some issues tracking down local Nebraska beers or Meads. We had to ask for help both times, but as I said, staff was super helpful and fantastic. Parking is a bit of a pain. It's not horrendous, but if you have a bunch of alcohol and it's heavy, the parking directly outside the door may be full up, and since it's a shopping area, you'll have to park a bit further away. Prices are a bit higher. It's not insanely so, but I'd expect to pay about $1 more for beer six-packs than most other places. It seemed worth it to support a local business, but sometimes the prices did seem pretty high. Great place, though. If I was looking for a specific item or something high-end with some good recommendations or was in the area, I'd probably come here. I stop in regularly to grab a bottle of liquor or some nice bourbon as a present. We will stop in for drinks and snacks as often as we can. They offer a single corkage fee which is great and really helps save $$ if you have a group and spend some hours drinking away. which you will here. Avari (i believe is his name) Is fabulous, he reminds me of a "Sommelier for the cocktails" Seriously this guy is amazing and knows his stuff. Have a convo with him about bitters, syrups etc. You will find a rabbit hole and improve your drink game immensely. Spirit World has now become my go to #1 spot for wine orders. They have been able to find some California wines when others have failed. Prices are a bit higher than ordering online but the local service is Great. This was my second visit to Spirit World and it was for an event in their private room. The private room is located in the back not too far from the restrooms which works out nicely. The room itself has a rustic vibe, the walls are glass and privacy is provided by the bottles on the shelves in the store and creates a cool look. JoJo was amazing to work with. He frequently stopped in the room to see if anyone needed to put a drink order in. Tyler created two custom cocktails and did a quick demo on how to make them. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We also ordered a light lunch which was excellent. The chicken salad is five stars. Spirit World may not be the first place that comes to mind when looking for a venue to host a small event, but it should be! The event was perfect and JoJo and staff were a big part of it! read more

Fun fact: while they have wine and scotch tastings pretty regularly, you can also just sit around drinking whatever bottles you fancy after paying obviously, with no corkage fee. Add in the on-site deli and you can nosh on quiche while sipping a mimosa or nibble on a cheese tray with your wine. Makes for a pretty fun and relaxing evening. Then when you're out of wine, go grab another bottle! It's like drinking at home, but with more selection. I've heard good things about their catering as well and will try to stop in for a more substantial meal sometime since I'm an avid chicken salad lover and apparently they're "famous for our Monterey Chicken Salad". Pretty cool, they have a small bar there and offer samples of their liquor to better help you figure out what you want! One of the only caveats of this place is that f you happen to be buying something (eg. Mixers) that can be found at your local grocery store it's pretty likely that it will cost a little more than here than elsewhere. Great place for a wide selection of things to get you through the weekend! The new location suits Spirit World incredibly well. Their old place always felt very cramped to me - full of great stuff, but crowded and not necessarily inviting. Now though, they're one of my favorite spots in Omaha. The deli is excellent, with a wide variety of made-to-order sandwiches (the asparagus cream cheese wrap is delicious), and their selection of wine, beer, and spirits is great. They have quite a good range of craft beers available, although the prices are a bit on the high side compared to some of the other places in town (like Beertopia). That said, if you think of it like a bar/restaurant rather than simply a beer store (you can buy and drink any of their beers to drink on premises), the prices suddenly seem much better. They also have an amazing selection of whiskies available for purchase, with probably the best selection of single malt scotch that I've found in Omaha. They also have a great variety of independent bottlings, something I haven't found elsewhere around here. It's clear that the staff are passionate about this stuff (as am I), and I really appreciate that I can just come in and geek out about my favorite whiskies and find a sympathetic ear. They also have periodic tastings in their (amazing) private tasting room. It's a warm, inviting venue, and the tastings themselves put anything else I've encountered to shame. If you are a whisk(e)y fan, you owe it to yourself to attend. To top it all off, they've got my favorite bar in all of Omaha. Yes, it's on the small side, no, it's not the cheapest, and no, you won't get frilly frozen cocktails there, but you WILL get damn good drinks from people who know what they're doing. If Alzuri is working, he'll make you the best classic cocktails you've ever had. This was my second visit to Spirit World. I went there as part of a group to review their new menu. There were between 30 and 40 people in the group. They started the evening showing us how to make an Aviation Cocktail highlighting some of the different formulas that are used. We then were given a sampling of Crostini's from their dinner menu. They were delicious. This was followed by sandwich samples, also delicious. We also had a wine tasting/presentation. I talked to the woman who gave the presentation and found her to be very knowledgeable. I would feel comfortable with any recommendation she made. I also spent more time checking prices of various liquors and found them to be reasonably priced. This was an issue I had with them in my first review. The only issue I still have with them is the noise level, I missed most of the presentations, because I couldn't hear the speaker over the noise. They do have a separate room for groups, which I think would be necessary. Because of the quality and taste of the food, price and knowledgeable personnel, I have upgrade my review and would feel comfortable recommending this place as a restaurant or as a good place to buy wine, especially if you need help in selecting one for a special occasion. read more

For years I had felt that Spirit World was a great Wine and Whiskey store, but only had beer for 'those other people'. I still felt the same when they moved to Aksarben Village until last Christmas. That was when I met Alex and he seemed new to craft beer but was taking his position here seriously. On Friday he was on 1620's Beer Thirty talking about how now they serve Draft Beer and have 3 taps where they now sell growlers. He was there today and talked beer for half an hour and came out of there with Crooked Staves' IPA. the Growler itself only goes for $3.00 and the IPA went for a total of $9.00, a very decent price. Next time you can switch out the growler so there will be no bottling fee. Alex hopes to have 3-4 more taps soon, they need to find the space for it. Right now it is just south of the Deli. Hopefully they will soon be on UnTappd so we can see what is on tap! read more

The deli also has a fantastic selection of meats, cheeses, appetizers and so much more. The employees will recommend them with certain cocktails or pairing them with the right beer. Came here on a whim and discovered a great bar. Or, at least a great bartender named Paul. Spirit World has been in Omaha for as long as I can remember. A great place to discover and learn wines, spirits and deli food. I actually bought my wine rack from them about three years ago. They recently moved to the Stinson Park area and now compete against Omaha establishments like Brix. It is now a modern vendor of spirits and wine (it's always been nice, mind you. It's just lost its '80s decor). As can be seen by the Drink Specials, the drinks are not overly priced and are of the classic variety. You should be able to find your poison of choice on special. Paul knows his craft. He knows the history of a drink and can make it well. I intend to come back and challenge him in the future. Oh...and the deli food is great! read more

The place was quiet with a couple of patrons wandering the store, so I took a seat at the bar to enjoy a glass of wine while awaiting my companions. They have a nice looking selection of wines, beers and liquors to choose from. Service is extremely slo-o-o-w and it's more store than bar, so just know that if selecting this as a place to hangout. While it's not on my list of places I want to chill-for-several-hours-with-friends, it's a nice grab-and-go option for home enjoyment.
