12/13/2024 Job #2: I previously said that I would hire Spirit Pruners again in a heartbeat and that is exactly what I did. I had another large pruning job . . . 5 trees in all. The crew consisted of Jose', Madeline, and Felix. This company has an exceptionally cohesive group of confident arborists and pruners and their camaraderie is readily evident. They function as a well-oiled machine - methodically attentive to safety while working in an efficient, thoughtful manner. And, they all love their jobs. Ben, the estimator, is a great guy. His work plan laid the foundational structure, but the crew was very flexible and the fine-tuning occurred while they were working on site. This is a crew that will work WITH you to achieve your goal. Every single person has a mellow personality and a good heart (a bonus). Once again, this team did an utterly fabulous job. Jose', in particular, often opted to share his decision-making process. Madeline was meticulous and detail-oriented while cleaning out the Japanese red maple (a tedious job). And, Felix cleaned out the underside of the Blue spruce to match what I had begun (taking off all of those small, dead side branches on healthy limbs). Don't let the name fool you . . . this is a full service tree company. I happened to meet Jose when he was working in a neighbor's yard. He didn't hesitate to answer my questions and was so incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and kind that I opted to have the company give me a bid. And, I am so very grateful that I did. These guys cleaned the lower 1/3 of the crown my mature blue spruce and my mature Douglas Fir. They removed the deadwood from a tall, red Japanese maple (a delicate soul of a tree). And they trimmed and pruned 2 good size maple trees, each with their own 'special' structural issues. The crew, Mason and Amoe - both arborists, were thoughtful and meticulous in their work. I am a dedicated observer and I like decisions to be collaborative (deferring to their expertise, of course) and they were both beyond kind and easy going. The yard was spotless when they were done. I couldn't be any happier! I would hire them again in a heartbeat! And, as an aside, I am astounded by the number of creatives who work for this company - true artists, photographers, designers, musicians, potters - even a dancer! Spirit Pruners took down a tree in the easement that was leaning, pruned some branches away from power lines to the house, and some general pruning. Their work was fantastic. Spirit Pruners have been a great partner in restoring and maintaining the health of both our mature and new landscape trees in our 3-acre parcel. They really know their stuff and are happy to educate us, as needed. They are helping us manage several problematic diseases in our garden including flame blight, verticillium wilt and black fungus, as well as invasive species. The best of the best! We're very very pleased with Spirit Pruners. Not only did the arborists take the time to provide you with the information about what they will do they were quite mindful about the location of where the debris would land as they pruned our Black Walnut tree and Sycamore Maple. Spirit Pruners gave us back our yard! They helped reclaim a very overgrown and neglected Hawthorne, spruced up our Spruce, gave our Maple a clean up and removed two problem trees that were looming threateningly over our neighbor's deck and our power lines. Can't wait to plant some fruit trees in their place! While the crew was working, I barely saw them pause. They worked excellently together and left the space in better shape than when they showed up. I have been very happy with the services of Spirit Pruners over the past several years. They have kept a large maple tree manageable and looking good. Additionally they have trimmed a large weeping cherry, a vigorous plum, the neighbors huge sycamore that was overgrowing our yard (with the neighbors permission) More recently they trimmed 3 very tall arborvitae in the backyard that had never been trimmed and needed a little. We were out of state and there was a mixup in which arborvitae to trim. It was quickly straightened out and Isaiah did an excellent job, in addition to being knowledgeable and a nice guy. The staff at Spirit Pruners demonstrate they like people in addition to trees. We have been very impressed by the knowledge, patience and skill that Kelly and his team display each time. I have used them 3 separate times and highly recommend. read more
