Schedule repair maintenance with Spirit Ford Dundee MI on my 2021 Ford Escape on 1/16/2024 for water leaking in the spare tire compartment which created moisture to collect on interior windows and smell like mold. Spirit Ford said that it was leaking from the rear light and that was replaced. We drove the car as it was fixed and never had a reason to look back in the spare tire compartment as we thought it was fix. Last week 3/3/2025 when the weather was started warming for a day after having snow/rainy days we noticed the car smelling again and looked in spare tire compartment to find that was full of water all the way to the top. So apparently the issue was never fixed correctly. Schedule an appointment for repair maintenance on the vehicle 03/10/2025 for issue again. As of 4pm on 3/10/25 the car had not been looked at. I received a call around 5pm and was told that they ran it through the water testing and did not see anything leaking. On 03/11/2025 around 1:30pm my husband informed that the vehicle repair is now out of warranty and will not be covered and would cost $729 to replace the lift gate seal. I asked why the repair was not covered as it was never repaired correctly the first time when vehicle repair was under warranty and was told well, they replaced the light. But that 1st repair did not fix the water issue now we as the consumer is responsible for the repair when it should have been fixed correctly the first time. The manager Ron said that he could reach out to Ford and see if they could offer assistance, but it was not guaranteed and no time frame on length to get answer. Again, another opened ended offer. If the issue was never fixed the 1st time, how am I to trust them again to fix it for the $729 that I shouldn't have to pay as I stated before should have been fixed. But let's not forget Ron basically blamed us for driving it since last repair and implying that is why the water was leaking in the same place. We have to pay for a diagnostic fee of $165 which again should have been covered as they supposedly diagnosed it the first time. Oh gets better, on receipt it starts recommended repairs/replace starts with body, mounted lift gate, seal, and then rechecked for any other leakleak source. So they wanted to just throw another part with hopes it fixes it just like the first time. read more

I had forgotten about this review until now when I had gone on to Yelp to search for something else. I thought that you might like to know that the $1800 that Spirit charged me for the repairs ended up being part of a recall that they are not going to tell me about. The only way I found out was because the car broke down again shortly after they did the work and I took it to another dealer who told me about the recall. They fixed my car properly for no charge and I contacted Spirit to see about getting refund. Not surprisingly, they refused. So I contacted Discover and disputed the credit card charge. After their investigation, Discover ruled in my favor and pulled the money back from Spirit and refunded my account. The last thing I said to the service manager was, "Don't you wish you would have just reimbursed me for that rental car?!?" ;) read more

My 2003 Ford F-250 would start took it to them service adviser joe had it for almost a month. They said on three different times the vehicle was fixed but never made it out of the parking lot. Took it to another Ford dealer after paying almost 7,000 dollars and the one part they put in was bad. But the root of the problem wasn't even what they fixed it was the glow plugs and the glow plug modular. $1,500 later problem fixed. Called dealer would help would return calls. Call Ford motor company then the owner had David reach out to me. Says he works with the owner to handle complaints. Spoke to him on several occasions would not return phone calls this is been going on six October I finally was able to get him on the phone today and he asked me OK so what do you want and I told him at least let's split the cost he said OK well I'll speak to the owner I understand where you're coming from and I'll call you back today I promise he called me back and said the owner he did not wanna do anything to help me. That this was all going to fall on my arms.Ford motor company had called me yesterday to find out if they had done anything and I told him not as of yet. They told me that if they get them to reach back out to them. I would not recommend this dealership for any type of service they are rip off and I would not ever buy a car from them. They have lost my business for life and I think you should think twice before going there. It's a shame that a Ford dealer thinks they can get away with this. So back to Ford motor company we go. And I pray they make him pay every dime back. And it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they lost the right to use the Ford name. read more

Made a service appt. days in advance for safety recall. Showed up and was told they couldn't do it. Claimed they did not have part. Becoming a tad perturbed I asked him if that was the case then why didn't you call me and reschedule rather than waste my time. I explained that the letter I received from Ford Customer Service assured there were parts available and they recommend I not drive the vehicle until fixed.......Then the service guy says, No parts at this time and we have no lo..........did you buy your truck new here? No loaner. Well I bought my truck new there and I ask the guy are you kidding me? We don't work for Ford He then tells me. So I called Ford Customer Service and they find out through the Service Manager that they have 5 parts on hand. So the Spirit Ford service desk employee flat out lied to me. This same guy told Ford Customer Service that they don't work for Ford as well. It was enough to escalate to Ford upper management. Lesson learned~If you want a Ford get one from a dealer that works for Ford. There are plenty around, just not in Dundee. read more

I bought an Escape from them a couple months ago and the experience was great. I worked with Gary who was fun and really worked hard to get me the best deal. I have bought multiple cars from Varsity which is closer to where I live, but my experience has changed that. I will be shopping at Spirit from now on. There new building is the best in the area. My husband and I will be coming back in the fall when our lease is up on out other car. Thanks! read more
