This Sphinx is back to being excellent. I had complained in the past, about bad service and terrible food quality. Now that has all changed. And I am so happy once again. Sphinx is back to the way I remembered it which is why I frequent the establishment. Their pork chops and chicken salad are to die for, so very good. I also ordered a sea salt caramel cookie that was the best cookie I've had in 30 years. It was a bit pricey but, well worth the cost. Horrible customer service!! No manager available. Clerk rude doesn't even ask if I need anything and stands there looking at me stupid like I'm not supposed to be there or something. I'm obviously either trying to buy some food or pick up some food. Most people have common sense to ask the customer what do they need not look at you crazy and still not say nothing. Nice Spinx convenience store location right off Ashley Phosphate near Dorchester Road. I was in the neighborhood yesterday and thirsty, so I decided to pull into the Spinx for a cold fountain drink. Once inside the store looked as it is being kept up well and they have about everything you'd expect in a modern convenience store. It was clean too. The cashier was friendly and of course I was satisfied with my super sized fountain drink. read more

Two years and counting and I'll still go out of my way to go here instead of any of the other gas stations around the house. I really think it's just the large lot, plenty of lighting, and it makes me feel safer. The service has definitely gone down since those first few months, but if you have to go inside and catch it when it's not crowded, you can get in and out quickly. read more

This store is very similar to a Wawa (Oh, Wawa...how I miss thee. #eastcoastproblems) They have a small deli, numerous coffee options, a fresh food station (salads, wraps, fruit, yogurt), lots of cold beverages in the coolers and all of the other standard gas station items. The store is always clean, including the bathrooms. The staff is so friendly and makes me feel incredibly welcome. Gas station pumps are organized in a good fashion. read more

I don't go into the store too often, but when I do everything is clean and organized. I usually stop at a Sphinx when I have a long run, and I'm able to use the restroom (which is clean) and refill my water. However, not everything works at the pump. I've been several times because I don't want to go into the store with cash, and they accept cash at the pump. Several times the cash machine does not work and then I have to drive around to the next pump. read more

This review is solely based on their cold brew coffee. I went inside to get a nice ice cold coffee on one of Charleston's hot summer days. Not seeing any type of cold brew options at their coffee bar, I ordered one of the ordering machines. Clicked iced coffees and only got the option of cold brew which I know is a coffee steeped longer in cold water. While waiting for everyone else's order I noticed a sign that had cold brew and ice coffee listed with pictures. I was a little concerned that one was black and one looked creamy. Thinking the iced coffee was a speciality type I disregarded this sinking feeling. Well the lady making the food walks out behind the counter with a empty glass. Seeing as I'm the only one left I ask is that the cold brew which she replies with yes. A little concerned why she is walking out of the area I see her get ice from the soda machine and a bottle of milk. Thinking that might be for something else, I shrug it off. Well she mixes the milk with something in a gallon jug. But she seems to be consulting someone about her empty jug. Another lady walks out and asks if I ordered the cold brew to which I said yes. She mentions their mix is out and so my coffee might not taste as strong. Confused, I question why their cold brew even has milk in it and she says that's how we make it. I take a look over at the cup of coffee and notice a black blob on top the ice as if the bottom of this syrupy concoction has not fully dissolved and decide against ever ordering that junk again. I ask if I can just grab a hot coffee with ice and she said ok. Paid for a cold brew and got hot coffee over ice. Already waited long enough and probably won't be getting much of anything not already premade from a well known company. read more

Former Law Enforcement Officer, Waited 15 minutes for food nothing ready, Purchased Chicken Sandwich with Lettuce & Tomato Went out to car and looked at the sandwich and it looks like they took the lettuce & tomatoes (black & wilted) out of the garbage. I brought it back in and showed the manager and he said sorry about that. A person working behind the counter offered to make another sandwich.
