The staff are incredibly positive and encouraging (special shout-outs to Melinda and Josh!). The 30-minute training sessions are intense but they actually fly by with the trainers keeping you pumped up and focused the entire time - all you have to do is show up and move your body! Sessions always start on time and the gym atmosphere is great. I joined 360 Fitness because I felt generally flabby, lazy and out of shape. Although I already had a good amount of knowledge in sports and nutrition, I really needed some outside accountability to get me going. The 6-week challenge was really the kick-start I needed to re-gain my confidence and 'fitness momentum'. In just this short time I've seen a major change in how my body feels and moves, and I am so much more motivated than before to keep working toward my goals. 5 stars, A+, this place is great!

It started innocently enough.... My friend said "I'm thinking of joining a 6 week fitness…read morechallenge... and I need you to talk me out of it". Once I got the information from her... I couldn't do that. I decided we would join together! I'm so glad we did. We went together to meet with Rich for an info session. He showed us around the facility and explained a bit about how they work. He got to know us and understand our motivations for being there. We signed up for their 6 week metabolic makeover challenge and got to work. The gym has good hours and their app made scheduling a breeze. The trainers make you feel welcome and don't get annoyed if you don't know how to do something, or need a little extra guidance. I highly recommend this gym!

I had gained a significant amount of weight, lost my love for the gym and had absolutely no motivation. Life was kicking my butt, and I was letting it. After some pushing and encouragement from my family, I decided to chat with the fitness manager at my local Goodlife to sign up for personal training. I was very skeptical. Scratch that, I was extremely skeptical of agreeing to work with a personal trainer. With the combination of bad experiences with personal trainers/coaches and injuries I wasn't looking forward to going through the process of vetting a personal trainer. Then I was introduced to Nathan. The first session I remember walking in thinking I don't know, maybe I should just cut my losses. I went in not expecting much. Oh boy was I wrong. Within in a few minutes I felt heard and understood. I gave him my goals and we workshopped together what would work and what might prove difficult for me. I have a handful of injuries that can make training a bit of a challenge for me. There are movements I need to avoid or be quite cautious with. Nathan is responsive and proactive to ensure I do not reinjure or injure myself. He's quick to grab the weight if I ever need a hand and is always willing to re-explain anything. I appreciate being told exactly WHY a movement is good for me versus just do this because it's good for me. I would personally recommend Nathan for pretty much anyone because he is knowledgeable, passionate about helping his clients and is great at making his sessions enjoyable. He has made going to the gym fun again, I feel like a little kid excited to go to the jungle gym every time I see that it's time for a session. Never thought I'd love going to the gym again. With his guidance I feel like I can personal accomplish all my goals I have set and even more.

That and I have yet to experience the loud grunting and shouting and the throwing down of the weights that I've experienced at other gyms...come one people...really. No one is impressed I've been to a few different gyms and there's a lot I didn't like about them. I like spa lady (even more so now that they've extended their hours) because the staff at this location are great, they greet you with a smile, make conversation (they even find ways to compliment you) ayes that sounds girly but come on...it makes you feel good don't lie. I like them the most because when I've been stuck on a work out or don't know how to use a machine all I've had to do was ask and doesn't matter who's around or what they're doing they have no problem helping. The change rooms and lockers are large and always clean. They have a sauna and provide hair dryers and straighteners, what more could you ask for....funny you should ask...there's no WiFi, this location is missing some of the equipment that the other location has (granted I get that it's a small gym but do you really need 3 leg extension machines and not one calf raise machine...come on). I personally would like to see a water bottle service of some kind (even if its a vending machine full of water bottles, it sucks when you leave your's at home and have to keep running to the fountain, having a fall back would be nice). Other than that, if you like having a clean machine I do recommend wiping down your machine before you use it...there are a lot of people that don't wipe down their machines when they are done :/

Curves is a unique place. The motto the founder started this franchise on was "No Makeup, No men,…read moreNo Mirrors" It is the gym for the ungymed. A place where non-muscle heads can feel at home. There is a high percentage of elderly people but I brought my daughter with me and we work out together. It is also unusual in that it is pretty low-frills. No elaborate change room (curtain) or showers to up your membership fees. You come, work out and go home. The new owners are sprucing the place up and will be painting at the end of November 2012. Many of the members are used to working out with each other and a sense of community has been formed there. It is a really homey atmosphere as the management lets members display things they have for sale, there is a book trading shelf as well as a "I've grown out of this, do you want it" rack. The workout on the circuit is as strenuous or light as you would like. It is all hydraulics so the faster and harder you work, the harder it becomes. I have seen women basically sail through it without even breaking a sheen, never mind a sweat. I have also seen women work hard and get what is obviously a great workout in. You can purchase memberships on a month-to-month basis for $49, which is what I am doing. If you purchase a year in advance it is a bit lower of a rate. In the end, it depends what type of experience and gym you are looking for. I would recommend this one for those that are easily intimidated by gyms, haven't previously attended a gym, have special physical needs (obesity, seniors, recovering from illness) or you just want a low key place to get a workout in.
