I'm sooo happy with Spinning WEB and how all our flowers turned out for our wedding! I would 10/10 recommend them for anyone looking for a florist! I heard about Spinning WEB through bridal expo and decided to email just to have options. I had never heard of them so I didn't know what to expect. But Whitney was so amazing from the very beginning. We set up a phone interview to talk, and I emailed her photos of flowers that I liked. She helped me go through different options and worked within my budget to help me get everything I wanted. She even set up a sample of a centerpiece, per my mom's request. It's so hard to know how everything will turn out when you're not the one doing it. I was just hoping things would turn out ok. I love the staff, originality and creativity of every floral piece and arrangements purchased via Spinning WEB for 25+ years. My mom initially first discovered their shop that used to be in Liliha to order floral arrangements for graduations. Thereafter, I placed my own orders for proms, a multitude of celebratory events, my wedding, and most recently, my grandmother-in-law's memorial service. They receive lots of orders. Easiest way to place an order is via email through their website. I received an email the following morning, along with a phone call to confirm they received my email. I usually have a theme with three colors in mind. I've communicated via texts and phone calls and received text and/or phone responses in a timely manner. My mother-in-law decided on a non-traditional wreath with predominantly yellow, some orange, and a little burgundy colored fresh flowers because those were my grandmother-in-law's favorite colors. They came to my rescue when I realized I wouldn't be able to have my cousin and auntie who are florists in Washington state, travel to Hawaii for my August 2020 wedding to due COVID19. They were timely in getting back to me, compared to other florists I had contacted, and were willing to work with my vision and budget. I sent a few photos and Wendy reassured me that she knew exactly what I was envisioning. Come my wedding day, the flowers were BETTER than I could have ever envisioned or dreamed up. We had inquired with multiple florists but didn't have any luck. We asked our day of coordinator (A Perfect Day) for recommendations and contacted Spinning Web, though I had already checked them out on Yelp. I sent a message and received a response from Whitney immediately. She asked me to email her, sending inspirational photos, any ideas we had, and our budget. It took about two days, but each day she emailed to follow up, letting me know she was working on my proposal. We went back and forth a few times with minor changes due to budget and a few ideas that had come to me after the initial proposal. Whitney was on top of it and most times responded immediately, or by the next business day at the latest. When the day finally came, everything was absolutely perfect! I was so happy with all the floral arrangements and felt like I received so much more than expected. Whitney and her team were able to accommodate all my requests, incorporating my favorite flowers and colors for a soft romance look and feel. I needed to order a wreath for a celebration of life occasion in behalf of my workplace. I had no idea how much it would cost or how to order this type of floral arrangement so I just contacted various florists on Yelp and went from there. Spinning WEB was the first to get back to me (same day that I sent my inquiry). I worked with Dolly and since I was working on a budget, she gave me suggestions on what I can do based on what I want to order and also worked with my budget. She also directed me to a website so I can view a sample of the floral arrangement that she suggested. I called her back after a day and continued to do business with her. She also guaranteed delivery to the location hours prior to the start of the event. All our communication was thru either phone or text messaging. Fast forward to the day of the occasion, I arrived at the location and the wreath was there as promised. I am very satisfied with the end product as the flowers looked nice and it looked full! She also followed thru with the colors that I wanted and had the correct wording on the banner. After my first sit down with Whitney, I knew I wanted to work with her. She understood my vision from the get-go, and we ran with it. I wanted a rustic look, and she was able to bring in elements to help execute this concept. We had a slight mix-up during delivery, as I received my groom's boutonniere even though he was getting ready at a completely different location, however, we made it work. I absolutely loved my bridesmaids bouquets, the floral pieces for my cake, and just the overall look of the hall. My wedding reception was located at Ke'ehi Lagoon Memorial hall, and while it doesn't usually look like the nicest venue for a wedding, it was completely transformed, and the flowers played a major role in that. Table-scapes needed to be low to encourage lively discussions and comprised of local flowers. Sunset colors and twinkles were a must and so was a respectful nod to our Asian backgrounds. From our first meeting Wendy sketched her vision. We'd cluster orange paper lanterns in varying sizes and accent with orchids and daisies. Since hydrangeas would not be easy to get locally in October Wendy was willing to work with periwinkle blue flowers snipped from the front hedge of my workplace. Wendy even caught items I had totally missed. How was I going to decorate the concert on the lawn? What could we do to make the linens sparkle like a glittery ocean sunset? Whitney was a good consultant and made a detailed proposal for my wedding. However, on the wedding day, I was shocked to see my bouquet and centerpiece. They were not what I expected. They did a very good job on the wedding aisle and arch. They were exactly what I wanted and I was very happy to walk down the aisle with my dad. When I got the bouquet while I was getting ready in my room, I was surprised to see my bouquet because it wasn't the color I asked for. I didn't like it so I told my wedding coordinator to ask them to change it. I wanted more pink in my bouquet and, in the proposal, there is a picture of the bouquet I wanted. I don't know how they ended up making the bouquet I never asked for. I was very disappointed but later they added more pink and it was not exactly how I wanted but looked much better. Also the centerpiece and flowers on the guest tables didn't have the color I wanted. The design was perfect but the colors were different from my expectation. I told them I wanted mostly bright pink flowers because in the proposal, it says "shades of pink" and I wanted to be clear which color I wanted the flowers to be. I also followed up with them about this and sent them a picture of the colors I wanted but on the very day, what I saw was mostly white and light pink flowers and very little bright pink. At the point, I couldn't do anything about it because the dinner was about to start. Whitney said she notated my comments in my file but if she really did, only case I can think of is that she was not supervising how the bouquet and centerpiece were being made and didn't get involved when they ordered flowers. Overall, I liked all the flowers and the flowers were so beautiful and gorgeous even though the colors were not what I expected. Whitney and Ryan are a knockout team. I went into my consultation with a lot of plans still pretty far up in the air, but Ryan had all the perfect leading questions to ensure that everything was covered. I had a few photos of the direction I was going and I let them know I didn't really have a color scheme as much as I was looking towards tropical flowers. After the meeting, they sent me a proposal, and I was a little nervous about the price. After I spoke with Whitney, she mentioned that not only do they have a Military discount, she also asked what I was looking at price-point wise and helped me get down to that number. In the following months, things changed a bit and I messaged Whitney probably 5 or 6 times with changes that they worked with all along the way. I had a phenomenal experience working with Whitney on the flowers for my April 2019 wedding. I am a flower person, so the florist was a big decision for me and played a central role in the day. There are three things that really stood out to me about Spinning WEB: (1) Whitney ran a really smart and targeted consultation: In my initial conversation with Whitney, she asked me questions that I hadn't even thought of. All of her questions were incredibly helpful in shaping the vision of what I wanted and making sure that I didn't forget anything. Her questions and the proposal that she sent me after the consultation made me feel like she really heard me and she was there to support me. (2) Whitney was incredibly accommodating and responsive: I planned my wedding from the mainland, and I found Whitney to be incredibly responsive in all of our communications. She made it easy to work with her from over 2,000 miles away. One example of this is - I ordered flowers for my hair from Spinning WEB, and I wanted to pick them up separately from the flowers being delivered to my venue. Since we technically didn't have one, Whitney gave us a rough estimate based off of what we wanted. I had a sticker shock moment. I initiated contact on their webpage April 22, and did not hear ANYTHING back for 3 weeks. I followed up with a call directly to Wendy, who said she would have whoever manages their web contacts get back to me. He did, but had no idea what he was telling me and I got the impression that he was very overwhelmed and it was completely disorganized. He told me he would have Wendy call me back to give me a consult. So I waited again. For over a week. Then I got an email from Wendy "following up". On what? Email tag happens again, which takes her almost an entire day, and she asks me if we can get together to talk in almost another week! I respond to set up a time, it takes her 3 days, and she asks me to meet her at a cafe on the island. Umm, hi, I already told you I'm planning a DESTINATION wedding, I don't live on the island. so, another response, and she sets up a time, but doesn't say who should call who. I ask, she never responds. The time comes that we were supposed to talk, and I don't get a phone call. I emailed her asking for another time and I have yet to get a response. So. While I'm sure the work she does is great (based on pictures, I found the "filtered" bad reviews on Yelp, no negatives on Wedding Wire, or any other site), I will never find out. Complete waste of time. I sent Spinning Web an online inquiry on Aug 9th, 2013 and also let them know if they would be available for a consultation since I was visiting from CA from Aug 23-30. I didn't get a response back until Aug 20th. Ok, fine, I give them the benefit of the doubt and respond, taking the time to give them all the information they requested about our wedding day (which they got the date wrong in their reply mind you). I also included photos for examples, another thing they asked for. They also said they were only available for consultation on Mondays and Tuesdays and to provide them three choices for dates/times. I included my choices in my response. Guess what? Not a single word back from them 'til this day. I currently don't see how all those Wedding Wire Awards have been given to them. For someone in business for over 20 years, I'd expect better service than this. Ended up booking with Todd Oshiro of Always Flowers. This review is a little late but I only recently became a Yelp member and thought to put in my two sense on my wife and I's experience with Spinning WEB. Wendy and crew did our wedding back on October of 2008. First off, Wendy and her staff were actually very helpful and informative; Wendy always kept her appointments and gave her full attention and focus to the ideas and themes during the planning stage. She was very patient throughout the experience and carefully took notes and presented us with many examples / styles of floral arrangements and decor items. Wendy also encourages full participation with her clients during the planning phase which allows for continuity, efficiency and gives everyone a better idea and feel of what themes / floral arrangements would best suit the occasion. Wendy, however, is very flexible and has shown that she can work with those who may be unsure or undecided on how to go about their planning. Her pricing was also very affordable considering the amount of work she had done. On wedding day, it rained heavily in the hotel's garden where we were having our ceremony and everything had to be taken down and re-arranged in another large space nearby that was provided by the hotel; In a reasonably short time as wedding guests were standing by to witness the ceremony, without hesitation, Wendy and crew worked quickly in re-working the entire setup. Wendy and crew did not dissapoint, they set up everything as close as possible within the theme of the ceremony in a timely and expeditious fashion and perfectly....especially given the situation. The floral arrangements and decor were beautiful and arranged exquisitely and the reception room was even better. All in all, Wendy and her staff did a splendid job especially in the face of adversity we were all facing that day however, with the work done and the dedication and commitment shown, that day was a complete SUCCESS. My husband and I were sooooo happy that we went with Spinning WEB Florist! I was first intrigued by her samples and unique designs. Then when we sat down with her and gave her our vision for our florals, she helped grow our ideas into something even more beautiful than we could have imagined on our own. My fiancee and I had a crazy martial arts theme and she was clever enough to help us incorporate our theme into elegant, non-cheesy/tacky decor. On the day of our wedding (and following) I couldn't even count the number of times people commented on the flowers and the uniqueness of the decor. Perhaps my only complaint would be that in my bridezillaness, I was jealous that the flowers got more compliments than me... :o) j/k Furthermore, not only were we so impressed by the floral design, but we were extremely appreciative of Wendy's flexibility and willingness to make my life easier as a bride. When we first met, we discussed a specific floral plan based on our current budget. However, a few months later, our budget had to be reduced. Wendy was so helpful and innovative in helping us cut back our costs without having to compromise on our overall vision and design. Also, I was planning to have friends and family take care of some extra reception decorations, but Wendy graciously offered to have her staff take care of it, so we wouldn't have to deal with the extra stress. She even saved my wedding cake! Unbeknownst to me, the cake vendor "dropped" off the cake, and I think she literally did "drop" it off, as it proceeded to crack and tilt! Wendy was only supposed to put on a couple flowers to decorate the cake, but she proceeded to repair it by pimping it out with her extra florals, thus saving us from a ruined wedding cake! I have to say, if not for her, my husband would definitely have had a bridezilla on his hands... I read some of the other reviews about lack of responsiveness in email/phone correspondence, however my experience in that area was fine. Albeit I didn't get a response within 24 hours, but everything went exactly as expected in the end. I had high hopes for spinning web florist based on all the positive Yelp reviews, but I was disappointed with the end result. Whitney was a great consultant but I don't think she listened to my concerns very attentively. We told her our budget, but when the paperwork was emailed to us, she had the budget listed as a higher amount (+$200). Then there was another instance where the paperwork was finalized and the math was incorrect. Other than that, I had no problems with the consultation process. On the day of my wedding, the floral arrangements were delivered quite early, so early that the banquet hall wasn't even open yet. None of the emergency contacts listed on my paperwork had received a phone call (to my knowledge) about the delivery person arriving-- my photographer was the one that notified me. When I had finally received the flowers, they were already starting to wilt. I did a couple of photos with my bouquet and pieces started to fall off. I was so embarrassed. I also want to mention that my bouquet was so much smaller than I had anticipated. It didn't look full enough and the three flowers I emphasized that I wanted (lilies, roses and orchids) were barely noticeable amongst other flowers I had not requested and greenery. The double maile lei I had ordered for my groom was scraggly and thin (specifically what I didn't want). However, the center pieces for the reception were absolutely beautiful! And they were the cheapest floral arrangements I had ordered @$20/bouquet! Go figure! The bridesmaid bouquets were beautiful as well, but they didn't make it through the night before the white roses turned brown around the edges. Luckily, my friend found a place where I could purchase bunches of the orchid I based my entire wedding off of for only $13/bunch. We bought about 2 bunches and were able to fill in where necessary. I was very upset though, because about 7-8 flowers were used to decorate my cake and I was charged $30 through spinning web when I could've bought the flowers myself for $13/bunch (a bunch being 5-6 branches with about 7 flowers on each branch). Overall, I really enjoyed the center pieces and bridesmaid bouquets that spinning web designed. I was very unhappy with my bridal bouquet and the groom's lei. I provided an entire Pinterest board for examples on what I wanted, so I don't know how anything could be lost in translation. In the end, I feel like I overpaid for what I received considering the bridal bouquet was ~$175-200 and the double maile lei was $65 and the flowers I really wanted were accessible to me for $13/bunch. We are very disappointed with our experience and wedding flowers ordered from Spinning Web. I had exchanged over 70 emails with Whitney. I was very prompt, paid attention to deadlines, deposits, final orders, had final quantities done over a month in advance. She was very lackluster with her service, and full of errors on sending back "updated" proposals with revisions I had just sent. Because of this, we wanted to meet with her to sit down and discuss our wedding look. Instead she sent her designer, who did not take any of my notes and photos back. I had printed out the current proposal indicating what needed updated, along with new photos, diagrams and arrows. Instead he said he will discuss what we talked about with Whitney, and for me just to email the photos later. When receiving the updated proposal from after our meeting, our name was still spelled wrong, the types of flowers we wanted were not entered, design descriptions were incorrect. In the end, the head table, bouquets, and even centerpieces were not what we wanted. For example, our proposal and photos clearly showed to include lite flowers within the garland for our head table. And to our surprise, when walking into our reception we saw a whole row of plain green, what looked like weeds along our bridal party table (the main table everyone looks at). For the price we had paid for the head piece, flowers should have been sprinkled throughout. Would not recommend this florist to any bride. If I were to offer any input to Spinning Web, Whitney please make time to meet directly with the bride and groom, as you are the one who determines the pricing. Also offer to do a test/model of a centerpiece to ensure your clients are happy with the end result. Couples typically spending thousands of dollars on wedding flowers and would like to ensure they are getting what they want. read more
