Atlantic Records & Sounds, which has been in the same Location in downtown Daytona Beach for 37…read moreyears! Atlantic Records is the kind of store you need a minimum of an hour to browse. The store is well organized by genre and there is a great selection of new vinyl. But this store excels with their vintage record selection. Prices are reasonable and the records are in such good condition. It wasn't difficult to find a dozen or so records to add to my collection! A gem of a place to visit and the staff are welcoming and so helpful. They want to talk about music that interests you and they have great suggestions to offer!

I could not believe how much the store has expanded over the years, including an annex two doors down that houses thousands of CDs. The amount of inventory here is almost overwhelming in the best possible way. As a music collector, it honestly felt like I had died and gone to heaven. No matter what genre you enjoy, there is an incredible amount to explore. I was especially excited to find a large selection of leftover Record Store Day titles, including two rare releases that I was thrilled to add to my collection. I also came across many original pressings of 1980s LPs and 12" singles, along with a huge number of CDs in the annex, including several out-of-print titles that are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Everywhere I looked, there were hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Atlantic Sounds is the kind of record store where you could easily spend an entire day -- or several days -- browsing and still not see everything they have to offer. I am so glad to see how much they have grown and expanded since my last visit. It remains an absolute paradise for music lovers and collectors.

Tre's nothing worse than walking into a record store and being surrounded by chaos, especially if…read moreyou are in a hurry. There's a reason audiophiles alphabetize their collections. And yet most record stores in the region are the loveable, if not cluttered, result of someone's collecting gone out of control. At least that is how they look -- like an audio version of "Hoarders." Groovy Records, as the name implies, offers a chill atmosphere, friendly service and knowledgeable owners who obviously love their job. Best of all, everything is clearly categorized and easy to find without much assistance. They have a large selection, including highly collectible vinyl, in a wide assortment of formats and genres. Not seeing what you want? Proprietors Tom and Jerry will be happy to order it for you. Some items might be priced a bit higher than competitors', but so what? In that case, like Smokey Robinson says, better shop around. As for me, I am happy to pay a little extra to support a groovy little record store like this.

We typically spend about an hour or two in the store and leave spending about $30 on records. The location is very small, but they make good use of the space. Will definitely be back!

I didn't buy anything....YET…read more My favorite part of this record store is that it's ORGANIZED. Used CDs are in ABC order, there's a section for 45s, dollar bins, DVDs and VHS, and both a playable Nintendo Entertainment System and a SEGA Genesis! It was fun to peruse through the countless merch. The music playing over the shop's sound system was EXCELLENT. Made me want to take my time just so I could listen to whatever was playing at the time. This is one of the cleanest, finest record shops I've been in to, and I can't wait to go back.

Very late stage capitalism. This seems more like a vintage clothing store that sells records; they…read morereally seem to be trying hard to cultivate a vibe, but it's sad. The vintage clothing section is small, and some of it is legit vintage. They have some local photos and t-shirts and suchlike. It's not Balsa Bills, by any means, but if you collect that stuff, have a look. I will not buy vinyl here because they are trashing their own stock. They store hundreds of LP's in flimsy cardboard boxes piled atop one another under the racks, and the covers get bent, flaky and dog eared. If you lack the initiative to make wooden LP crates for your under stock, you are not really interested. There is usually one person hanging out behind the counter, but they're not what you'd call interested. The prices are high for the condition but if you don't mind trashed covers I heard you can sometimes find a playable record for a couple of bucks.

I've been coming to Maya Books and Music for years and always find something good when I stop in…read more The store is clean, orderly, and the book sections are clearly displayed; however, it doesn't hurt to ask for help from the owner, she knows where everything is. On my most previous visit I was looking specifically for piano sheet music, and the owner informed me they were upstairs in a basket under the W-X & Y-Z section of Rock CD's, and sure enough, they were exactly where she said they were. Luckily for me I found two books in great condition - Bach Short Preludes and Fugues for the Piano for $3.95 and Bella Bartok Mikrokosmos Piano Solo Vol III for $3.50, great deal! There is also a variety of other instrument sheet music for clarinet, trumpet, guitar, mandolin, and more in this section. They have a great variety of used music CD's and Vinyl's upstairs for sale at a reasonable price. I've purchased CD's from here for $4 and less, but some could be higher if they are rare or brand new in the cellophane wrap. I haven't purchased any Vinyl's but they do have a decent selection. There are also a variety of posters and old collectable magazines here for sale, which is cool. I actually have some of the Guitar Magazine ones they are selling for $25 and more. The owner informed me that she acquired a much larger store in another state and will have a lot more books and other items coming after the New Year, so be sure to stop in and see what they have to offer. Something to note is the owner is not flexible with pricing so I don't recommend trying to get a better price by buying multiple items and talking her down, it just wont work. Another thing is there is really nowhere to sit down to read for a few minutes to see if you want to buy a book your interested in, even if you try, you quickly become crowded in by other shoppers trying to get around you. All-in-all, Maya Books and Music provide a fun shopping experience if you're a book lover and just happen to be in Downtown Sanford Shopping. I highly recommend stopping in to check them out.

I can't believe I haven't written a review of Maya Books & Music yet...this is one of my favorite…read morespots in Sanford. It's cozy, charming and a must-visit for book lovers. I have found some wonderful books here and if you go upstairs you'll find all sorts of records. To me the books are well priced, and the owner is always so so welcoming! Before writing my review I did read some other reviews about people trying to ask for price matching, which honestly I find weird to do with a small book shop (do it to the corporate businesses, not the small shops - but that's just my opinion). I also don't think the owner does price matching or accept any haggling as I did overhear her telling a couple she did not. Anyways a great book shop to visit and if you love to support local shops, this is one to visit and support!
