This was not my best experience at the Cafe. It's my first time with a walker. I placed my order fota soup and a torpedo sandwich. I paid for it, although being here many times the cashier, Krystal, referred to me with the wrong pronoun. I think the Italian Centre needs to learn how to greet all people. I was given a table number to have my food brought to my table. The barista delivered my coffee. My food arrived later with the wrong soup. They took it back and brought the one I ordered. They really need to work on the table service.

Espresso, lemoncello, eclairs, oh my!

Leave the calorie counting at home, take the cannoli. Oh how I love sitting in Spinelli's: Sipping a cappuccino, chatting with a friend, watching the comings and goings of this quintessential Italian cafe. And all the while, in my head, planning the glorious meats, cheeses and such that I will procure from the Italian Market next door! All of the staff is so friendly, the sandwiches, soups and slices of pie (the kind with meat and cheese, this is Spinelli's!) are always fresh, made in store daily and have that added special flavour that you can only get when something is truly authentic. And then you are faced with the question... Do I get a cannoli? Yes!! For the love of food, yes! Always, whether it is to go or enjoy in the cafe, always get the cannoli! My work here is done.

Spinelli's Bar Italia is a coffee shop attached to the Italian Centre Shop (or Spinelli's) on 95 St. in Little Italy. Before it's current incarnation it was another cafe called Tra Amici, which was essentially the same but a little bit better. No matter, I still enjoy Bar Italia a lot. It is now owned by the same family that own the store. I generally dislike going to the chain coffee shops to meet up with a friend ($4.50 for a medium hot chocolate - no thanks!), so Bar Italia is my go-to place. It's also only a 5 minute drive from my house, so that's a bonus. Bar Italia is a fair size, with about 10 or so tables. They also put a few tables outside in the summer. There are some paintings on the walls of Italy, as well as your standard World Cup/football memorabilia. It is pretty basic as far as decor goes. The thing I love about it here are the prices! Cheap! I don't usually drink coffee, but they have a big selection of coffee, cappucino, esspresso, etc. I usually get tea when I go which is very reasonable at $1.50. A bowl of soup is $3.95, a pannini for $5 or $6 (depending on the size you get), and awesome pastries all around $2ish. The canoli are my favorite, yum! Oh, and don't forget the gelato. I've been in here at all times of the day - daytime on the weekend, 8pm on a Tuesday, and it's always busy, sometimes surprisingly so. They have a few TVs up that are always playing soccer (usually on the weekend) or some other sports. I was here a few weekends ago for a few hours and in that time they played a Serie A game, a La Liga game, and one other game. Try to go here during the World Cup or some other big tournament, but get there early! The customers are always varied and interesting - older Italian folks, young folks, families, people taking a break from their shopping. All in all, a very relaxed, inexpensive place to spend some time and catch up with friends or family.

Wow this place is busy! The service is like a cafeteria but I feel like I'm at an Italian market! They make the best mushroom risotto! !! And the pastries are AMAZING! The pizzas are made to order. And if you want you can order FRESH pizza dough on certain days and make your own! Well worth the wait!

Very delicious cappuccino. After you are done with a yummy coffee you can shop at the awesome Italian store in the same building.

Oh. Em. Squeal!!!!!…read more First off, mad props to my friend for introducing me to this charming new addition to the coffee scene. Stop Gap opened just under a month ago in Oliver. They describe themselves as a temporary (stop gap) means to filling a need - coffee - served with an intentional and caring heart. Caleb Kam, the owner, is warm and inviting. He definitely knows his coffee. You may know him from his former life at Brown Butter Cafe. Caleb focuses on Canadian, fresh, and local! I spotted Ace and Candid today (Edmonton gems). The clientele were sweet and happy to offer up their faves! Nathan, a regular, told me Caleb is the go to for the best pour over in town. I opted for a Dirty Chai - made to perfection and my friend had a oat milk chai complete with milk art adorning the top. Both beverages were perfection. Coffee can be consumed in house complete with adorable coasters (el gato was my fave naturally, meow) or taken to go. For seating, there is a cute bench against the window front and a side room available if not booked. Caleb also had fresh donuts from Fuzion in Chinatown. My friend and I shared the cake and Cinnamon bun donut today. Sooo ridiculously good. Be sure to check Fuzion out online - they don't have a storefront so you will need to order in advance if you are looking to up your donut game at your next office meeting. I seriously can't wait to come back here again! Oh and they also have a beautiful meeting space available for rent on the main floor in case you want to bring your next staff meeting to the best coffee in town! Such a true pleasure meeting you today, Caleb! Stop Gap is exactly what YEG needs!

The coffee shop's location is on the second floor of the building (right next door to the restaurant Sugarbowl), and offers an awesome view of the North Saskatchewan river, downtown / Jasper Ave on one side, and the Garneau neighborhood on the other side. The place is filled with antique furniture, wooden floors, but also a touch of modern style as well. With the decor, the smell of coffee, along with the presence of coffee drinkers and enthusiasts, Kaffa is very inviting and a great place to drink coffee, eat and be with someone (or by oneself). Kaffa has its own coffee roasting machine on location - so I hope you can imagine the smell of coffee is very much present here at Kaffa!!! It's very nice. Kaffa, both a derivative and coffee region in Ethiopia, also sells their roasted coffee, and tea as well. Ethiopia, as well as a few Central American countries, provide beans for the roastery. Kaffa also offers art space for local artists, but music concerts as well. Anyone with questions or inquiries can contact Kaffa (their email address is on their website, kaffaroasterystudio.com).

Really excellent Persian food. We stumbled on this in the west end when we were doing errands…read more We decided on the kabob platter for us. It came with Koobideh (Two skewers of Juicy ground beef kabab) , Chicken kabab Joojeh (Sineh) and grilled tomatoes. Served with 4 servings of saffron rice. It is made for 3-4 but we enjoy leftovers. Food was amazing! The rice was so fluffy! Appreciated all the raw sliced onions and the grilled tomatoes (however I could have used less char on them). They gave us two dips to try with pita bread - Zeytoon Parvardeh Brined olives mixed with crushed walnuts and rich pomegranate molasses, and Mast - o - Moosir - Creamy yogurt blended with shallots and garnished with dried mint. Both were so amazing and full of flavour. Our platter also came with pickled...I want to say cabbage which was so delicious with the meat. The meat itself was well cooked and full of favour. I preferred the beef to the chicken but both were delicious. I really wanted to try the saffron ice cream, which was a great end of the meal paired with some tea. The ice cream itself wasn't so sweet which I really appreciated. Our server was lovely and friendly and super helpful. It looses a star because it was cold - both in esthetics and in temperature. I would love to see some more Persian décor to make dining more of a trip. We will be back again because there are many things on the menu that I would like to try.
