I had a 5 hour spinal fusion surgery last June. In spite of still being in significant pain I have only seen the surgeon , Dr Zaranov, once since surgery and that was 2 days after surgery in the hospital where he chastised me for deciding at the last minute that I needed inpatient rehab. This was in spite of his telling me he didn't think I would need it. It was the most awful pain I've ever experienced and I was basically unable to do anything much less walk. In the interim I've only seen PAs and not offered any pain assistance other than Gabapentin which has awful side effects and really doesn't help much. They do not care about anything except surgery read more

I recently scheduled an appointment with Spine Team of Texas due to severe back pain. I've been a patient there in the past for the same issue and had even completed physical therapy with their team, so I expected a smooth visit. Instead, I was met with a very disappointing experience. During check-in, the nurse asked if I had been in a recent car accident. I explained that I had been in an accident six months earlier, but that it had nothing to do with my current issue--I had been treated by them for years for this exact problem. Despite this, I was told they could not see me. When I asked why this question wasn't asked when I scheduled the appointment over the phone, no one could give me an answer. After waiting days in pain, taking time off, and having them run my insurance, I was turned away at the door. This is unacceptable. This screening question should absolutely be asked during scheduling. If it had been, I could have booked with another provider instead of wasting days while my condition worsened. Now I'm still in pain and forced to start the process all over again with a different doctor. Very disappointing experience from a place I previously trusted. read more

Rockwall Office Only: I have been going for a compression fracture since June. I have had a very good office experience and care experience. I am still being monitored. Their method is to generally rotate patients with 3 PAs ( initially I saw Dr Berg l, who is great) so that was different for me. They are not pushing me to have a surgical procedure. I see it as more people looking at my situation. It might not be everyone's preference. The PT staff is great and of course focused on the spine as well. I have made great progress with them and I have learned a lot. I would recommend the Rockwall office . NOTE: The problem with this review page is that locations are not specified in reviews or reviews are OLD. These should be removed. Too bad the reviewers or Yelp can not sort into the locations as there are 12 in the metro area. read more

The staff are the worst I've ever seen. The address took us to the opposite side of the building, which had signage inside the building saying the Spine office is to our right on the outside of the building, but turns out it was straight on the other side. When we got to the office we were still well within the 15 minute limit to see our doctor. They had us check in on the kiosk, after we checked in they gave us a paper asking what caused the disk in my mom's back. It was due to a car accident that was not her fault, and that there was a lawsuit filed and completed. Some gray haired lady with glasses told us that they can't take us since our lawsuit was on going. We told her it wasn't. She asked to see documentation that it was completed. We called our lawyer and she was going to send us the documentation. The lady then said that oh the time has passed for us to see you now. (Our appointment was at 1:00 pm, and it was 1:12 pm when she told us it's too late). She said that since we are new patients someone should have told us that we needed to be there 30 minutes before. No one told us anything. Why didn't they tell us before we checked in, why did they need to see our legal documents for the lawsuit then and there? Worst staff, do not recommend, go to a different spine specialist. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

Dr's are great. The staff and their way of taking calls are set up to make it as difficult as possible "let me transfer you" "not my job" straight back to A I. I pay for a TELEVISIT, they don't prescribe all my meds and LEAVE A MESSAGE BUT NOT TOO MANY. MAYBE they call at 5pm when I .call at 8:30am so im going to hurt at least all day today as well as yesterday. Get this, they want me to take a drug test for drugs I can't even get read more

Visited Spine Team Texas at the recommendation of my PCP after my original spine doctor left the practice I was attending. Fabulous experience all around. From check in to check out it was easy and seamless. The staff is attentive and professional. They explained exactly what was going on with my spine (last doctor just gave me pills that I couldn't take while working). They respected my desire to not have medications added to my ever growing routine of drugs! I've gone to physical therapy one time and they gave me exercises to do at home AND WORK (since I'm there so much) that work amazingly well. They listened! I already feel so much better. I had 3 appointments, 2 with doctors and 1 with a surgeon, for my 3 compression fractures. Only my first appointment was satisfactory. 2nd appt I waited an hour in the exam room before i went looking for help. 3rd appt with surgeon, I was told my problem was in a different vertebrae than the first 2 doctors told me. As I shockingly pointed this out, the surgeon told me not to yell at him. I wasn't yelling, it was a shocked you gotta be kidding me response. I lost all faith in this office and no way would I let them do any medical procedure on my spine. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

Update December 2023: I've been coming to Spine Team since 2016. Twice a year I go under general anesthesia for Radio Frequency Ablation on the right and left side of my neck. These procedures cost me and my insurance company approximately 20k per year. It is usually money well spent as it keeps me off any and all pain medication until the nerve grows back each year. Dr. McPherson has been my primary physician and has always taken great care of me. I trust him 100% and would refer him to anyone I know. HOWEVER, this clinic has turned into a cattle call. To begin, it took 5 calls (4 unreturned messages to scheduling (3 of them to Juanita) to get an appointment. Second, according to the nurse, Dr. McPherson saw 17 surgery patients yesterday and will see about 20 on Wednesday. Regardless of this, Preop is excellent and the surgery is excellent but after they are done with you and take thousands of your dollars, you better be ready to leave as you will be literally pushed out of their facility within "20-30 minutes". After my procedure yesterday, the nurse woke me up and I was immediately in tears from excruciating pain. I crawled up in a ball, on the surgery bed, and told the nurse how I was feeling. I was crying loudly as many of the staff (sitting behind the desk) had no choice but to hear. They watched as I began having a panic attack and was asked to put on my clothes and get in the wheelchair because my ride was there to pick me up. I told them I wasn't ready to leave and needed their help. The discharge nurse told me to get dressed and reminded me to get in the wheelchair. I was in so much pain that I couldn't put on my bra or shoes, which I let her know. I was then told that they couldn't give me any more pains meds and it was time to leave so I was wheeled out braless and in surgery socks. My daughter drove me about 5 minutes down the road and, as much as I didn't want to go back to the facility, I was desperate so we did. My daughter went inside the building and had a nurse come to the car to talk to me. Apparently that nurse knew what was going on because she came out and told me they couldn't do anything for me and if I was in pain and I needed to go to the ER. I went to the pharmacy instead and got some sleeping pills because sitting in an ER lobby was definitely not going to do me any good. I called Spine Team on the ride home and asked what pain medication they gave me this time vs the last few times I had this procedure. I was not surprised to know that they did not give me the same meds and the meds they gave me this time didn't work. I was told that every nurse anesthetist does things different (yesterday I had Marie) and this one prefers different meds. This is obviously a cookie cutter approach that isn't patient specific and her choice of meds did not work for me and when I explained this to them they weren't willing to help. I asked her to watch the video of my exit as I was rushed out of the surgery center right after I woke up. I was hysterical and could barely stand. She told me that an average stay after surgery is 20 to 30 minutes. It is a shame that this "Pain Management" clinic has forgotten the medical promise of "Do no harm" and has now turned in to a poorly run facility without care for another human being. I'm taking my yearly 20k to another facility. I only wish I could take Dr. McPherson, Taylor, Jeanie & Rob (and other members of the preop, surgery & billing team) with me they deserve to be represented better because they care. Update: 2018 I went back to Dr. McPherson for a new problem and once again, he exceeded my expectations. Love this doc!! 2016: I considered cancelling my appointment with this office after reading these reviews but I am so glad I didn't. My experience was exceptional from scheduling to imaging to the visit with the doctor. This place is run very well. Dr. McPherson spent a good of time going over my history, giving me an exam and discussing the treatment options. He explained everything in day to day terms (vs medical terms.) 5 stars!!! read more

Spine Team would not see me until my litigation was settled. Then they needed a letter from attorney stating case had been settled and closed. All of this took time, while I was in pain. No other clinic requested a such a letter. I made several calls to find out when I could schedule an appointment. I was told they never received the letter from the attorney, which he faxed over a couple of weeks ago. When I called a few other times and left messages, I never got a call back. Several weeks went by and now they are calling me to schedule an appointment. In the mean time, I called another Neurosurgeon who did not need a letter from my attorney, he worked me in the next day and came up with treatment plan. Spine Team doesn't seem to be worried about patient care. read more

These people are HORRIBLE. I made an appointment for the Flower Mound office with their main number. They had my appointment, but the process was very different than expected. I was in a LOT of pain by the time Dr Tijmes was able to see me. I was told to come early for an MRI across the hall and would see him immediately after. I confirmed this TWICE, AFTER making the initial call. When I got there, they said that was not their protocol and left me in the waiting room for 45 minutes in agonizing pain. The receptionist smiled the whole time and thought that was appropriate. Dr Tijmes did come to the front to greet me, but only looked down at me and told me he had other patients in front of me. I couldn't believe someone who took the Hippocratic oath could be so uncaring. Long story short, I ended up in the Texas Health ER across the street the next day and was sent immediately for emergency surgery due to the sever pain. 24 hours later, I'm recovering with minor post op pain. I later learned that Dr Tijmes could not have even helped me. All he does is pain management. I hope sharing this experience saves someone from repeating my experience. read more

Came here yesterday for the first time then came back today to pick up copies of my X-rays. The two girls that work up front are about as welcoming and friendly as a couple of coffin nails. Dr. Cooper seemed pretty good. He was nice, but like many doctors, I couldn't really tell if he was actually attentively listening to what I was trying to tell him or just going through the motions. Then the young lady scheduled the MRI and my next appointment...meh. The lady who finally checked me out when I left was the actual first genuinely friendly person I encountered. Kudos to her for shining some good attitude in this misery pit. If you are coming to a spine specialist, you are likely in some kind of significant pain or discomfort. Having a friendly welcoming staff would be helpful. I am not going to say that anyone was rude, but just complete disinterest and a look that says 'I would rather be anywhere else other than here with you miserable people'. That was just my impression. Not a terrible experience, just an observation of the visible attitude of much of this office. read more

After the pain returned after my last Rhizotomy, My previous Dr had moved back to India. After having a successful experience previously, I expected the same outcome with Dr. Garriguas in Prosper, unfortunately, that was not the case. While waiting for injections for bursitis, and in pain, I was left on a table for at least 10 minutes while He saw another patient. While not able to get off the table I yelled out for help and was then told they were running late by his assistant and helped off. After waiting another 10 minutes I left. X-rays and an MRI, and a blocking procedure were completed I was hopeful for a more professional treatment and to find relief. At the surgical center, however, the nurse comes in and has my allergic medications incorrectly, and tells me I'm having one side done, which was also incorrect, I felt uneasy.... but when Dr. Garriguas comes in and starts having a conversation about the pain level I would be experiencing during the procedure that should have taken place while at an office visit, I was shocked and afraid. I had felt NO pain during my previous Rhizotomy. While losing confidence in staff and this Dr. I was still hoping for a positive outcome and to feel the relief I had previously experienced 5 years earlier. Afterward, I still feel no difference, no relief. I'm very disappointed. I expected at least to receive a call from his office asking how I'm doing, but nothing. Too big of a hurry, overbooking of patience, no explanation of treatment prior to service, no follow-up. Can not recommend. read more

I have a pretty complicated situation as a person with a medical condition that precludes me from wearing a mask. It's very harmful to me and as you can imagine, I couldn't go to a lot of places the last few years. EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE EXEMPTIONS legally IN EVERY CASE for those of us with medical conditions for which mask wearing is contraindicated, I was denied being in this facility without a mask and denied medical care. I was denied the test I needed for a surgical procedure because their policy is that everyone must wear a mask. It didn't matter that I was completely healthy, had no symptoms of anything, I wasn't going to be allowed to get the test because I can't wear a mask. When I kindly asked them why, I was told it was their policy. No exceptions. So, before you go, know it is their policy to deny medical care to someone because they have a medical condition that preclude them from doing something that even the CDC says is no longer beneficial. When all the evidence is out that masks do absolutely nothing, except for obstruct the breathing of those of us who have medical conditions and can't wear them, there are still a few bureaucrats in control of policies and alleged medical professionals too stupid to know that it makes no sense. I was discriminated against for my medical condition and denied a test that I need for surgery. Thanks Spine Team Texas. Wow. read more

I went there because I got a referral. The person who took me back was incredibly rude and obviously mad at me for being in pain and walking slowly to the exam room. She didn't bother to hold the door, even though I am in for spine problems that present in the shoulder and arm. After being combative in basic intake information and being told they couldn't see me for more than one symptom, I limped out. The front desk, told me they had no policy against multiple symptoms, but 'maybe' it had something to do with the doctor. Which I asked if they had spoken to the doctor, and the reply was yes, but they wouldn't confirm or deny if the specific doctor wouldn't see patients who have multiple symptoms, so I requested my refund and left. The doctor nor manager could be bothered to straighten it out. Despite being in a extraordinary pain, and not able to get an appointment elsewhere quickly, I couldn't trust my health to this office. read more

Outstanding bedside manner, with easy-to-understand explanation. I was not just a med-school cadaver, but an actual live person with concerns addressed by Dr. McPherson. My husband went back in December had back pain. They ended up doing a medial block. My husband ended up in the ER was excruciating pain and couldn't walk. Went back to spine team and they said oh well we need to do an epidural after going to his neurologist who figured out he had a pinch nerve from the previous procedure. Epidural lasted maybe a month! Fast forward to me getting tired of the run around I made him an appointment with another dr and got a second opinion. After multiple xrays and an mri he has an AVN. A vascular necrosis which is a lack of blood flow to his femur bone. So had they had done the proper X-rays and listened to my husband we would've been able to correct this issue WAY before it got worse causing him to have a serious surgery to correct it!!! Also watch out for Billing! Always charging without looking at the benefits. Thank goodness I work in the dental field and understand billing and meeting our family deductible etc!! Saw his PA (he is on bill) and was charged over 400.00 for a repeat injection of medicine that cost 35.00. She charged me a office fee 167.00 PLUS a 220.00 shot administration fee....this is just absurd for a 5 minute procedure. I will never go back as thats what's wrong with the medical field gouging people and gouging insurance companies. Prices and fees should be upfront before procedures. Had I know there was an additional 220 dollar charge for a shot I would have just passed as I knew it was not a permanent solution. read more

Worst customer service ever. As a new patient, I arrived 10 minutes before my 12 noon appointment, waited an additional 15 minutes before I was able to receive the new patient paperwork. When I turn in the completed papers, the receptionist said she would be able to check me in at 12:30 for my 1:00 appointment. I understood my appointment was at noon, her response, I guess they had you come in early. Urg! Now I am suppose to sit here for 45 minutes. read more

I'm not sure what's going on but I had a 230 appointment. I was told to arrive at 2pm to complete paperwork. I did that in advance and online. I arrived at 210. It is now 319 and i have still not seen the doctor. He gets 10 more minutes of my time and then I am out. I had to sign a document that says if I'm late by 15 min I have to reschedule. I'd like to ask the same if this facility. So aggravating. read more

Worst office ever! I was referred here by my family practitioner for pain management. I had previously had really good visits here UNTIL I had an emergency. I was a patient of Dr McPhersons but saw his PA for the last few visits. I was called back into a room only to have my nurse called out. She was gone about 10 mins then came back in and said "you are seeing Dr. P today". I asked what was going on and she said she didn't know. ( BS) I was asked to do a urinalysis which I did expecting no issues. Next thing I know Dr P comes in with a severe attitude telling me I was doing METH!!!!!! ( I couldn't believe my ears) I asked if that could be the diet pill phentermine that I was on only to receive more attitude. I was told he sees this twice a week and it basically the urine test doesn't lie but final results take a week. He has no clue I have a sister dying with only 15% of her heart working and a son in rehab for Meth. I was put down, disrespected and humiliated! The conversation got heated, I was upset and crying. I HAVE NEVER DONE DRUGS IN MY LIFE! It gets worse. He reprimanded me for "violating" the narcotics agreement. Said they do a DPS report and that I had a narcotic filled by another dr. ( I told him I had a procedure done with a plastic surgeon and filled my rxs, I didn't think my T3 for my back had anything to do with different type of rx for my plastic surgery). I was talked to severely after he said he could lose his licence and that he was stopping all meds and referring me. I was in shock!!! He reprimanded me again for not doing a nerve study and a procedure for my back pain. I told him I couldn't afford surgery center being a cash pt and he suggested I do it without anesthetic. When I saw his PA the for the first time, he disagreed with Dr P and suggested an injection in the office, I went with this since it was WAY less expensive. Dr. P said that the PA is entitled to his opinion but he was his boss! Then asked me how much my plastic surgery cost and said " I bet that was a pretty penny, huh!" I left the appt after Dr. P said he was exiting the room, I walked out after that. My drug did come back the following Wednesday absolutely clean except alcohol. I said I am not giving up the occasional glass of wine. I then demanded an apology which I got a standard.. " I'm sorry and wish you well" which probably came from the nurse reading me my results in which she said she thinks that's a good apology. She then faxed me a referral and list of other pain doctors. read more

Spent 3 hours waiting in the lobby just to be told they wouldn't see me as a new patient because I had a closed and settled worker's comp case from 8 years ago for a completely different body part than what I was coming to them for. I had to have my attorneys fax them multiple documents showing the worker's compensation claim case was closed; they even faxed a page listing the body parts in question, yet they still refused to even have one of their "doctors" see me. Read the other reviews on Yelp and Google and see for yourself... they refuse to see patients for a variety of absurd reasons with absolutely no logical explanation. This place is a joke--don't even waste your time. When you come in it looks like a 24-Hour Fitness gym or something and they are pumping people in and out like rats on a conveyor belt, or in their case, dozens of patients walking on treadmills, hence the 24-Hour Fitness reference. The level of care seemed minimal from the 3-hours of observation I got to "enjoy" while I waited to be told they wouldn't see me. It appears they survive on referrals from other physicians. My physician said he will NOT be referring anyone else to this "Walmart of spine care." Save yourself the headache (and 3 hours of your time) and go to a real doctor such as a hospital based neurosurgeon. You can look them up online and find dozens of good neurosurgeons here in the DFW area. read more

This is first time I have ever written a review. These people were so BAD...I talked to 2 or 3 ladies...Lisa was one of them. They were each ridiculous. I felt sorry for them...they must working for bad doctors. Others need to be warned. DO NOT GO HERE! I was referred to this group by a Texas Health Hospital Emergency Room. I am going to write Texas Health next. I am a retired Businessman and this was the worst experience with another a business I have ever had. I had to jump through all kinds of ridiculous hoops just to get an appointment. They jacked me around for 10 days. They never did see me. Thank God for a Doc in a Box who got me fixed up. They require a drug test prior to treatment, which is understandable. They don't tell you that your insurance company will deem this test as "not a medical necessity", and you will be on the hook for the $725 bill. When you call the office, their response is, it's YOUR responsibility to know your benefits, and to choose to refuse the test... which, again, is required before treatment.... read more

They got all my information online, they made the appointment, I drove to Rockwall in pain only to be told Dr Kivuule can't see me because they have not verified my insurance. The care that I have received from this place has been sub-par. The physical therapy group has been particularly rude and condescending. They prescribed a series of expensive injections before deciding they would go ahead and perform the surgery I needed. Even after painful neck surgery I have had next to no improvement with my pain. Amazing doctors and most of the staff.. some are.. snotty, but most are great and when I mentioned the one bad egg, it was taken care of. They took my husband from complete invalid to being able to walk and move in a much more pain free way. Yes, I have great insurance, which I pay dearly for. Get an HMO and they are a piece of cake. And no they dont treat auto accidents, they are not ambulance chasers and fakes.. they are there to fix the problem, not get rich and blow the auto insurance market up more. And no, they dont tell you to get out but they do expect to be paid. Medical school and insurance costs money people.. I am thrilled with them and their services. read more

I've been going to Spine Team TX, Rockwall for 8+ years and the entire practice from A to Z, receptionists to scheduling, to billing, etc. and of course the medical staff are beyond excellent! I have some fairly major/chronic back issues that have required multiple procedures over the years including a Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted. Due to their excellent, professional and educated care, I'm able to continue traveling extensively for my job and maintain an active lifestyle. Without them, I know I wouldn't be in the same job, maybe not working at all and probably not even walking very well! read more

Worst customer service and disrespect I have ever received !!!!!!!! I had an appt scheduled on 6/27/17 that I took an entire day off to attend. I arrived at the appt approximately 15 minutes early .The lady at the front desk was taking care of a patient who walked in and did not actually have a scheduled appt. I was not acknowledged when I came into the office I just stood in line waiting to sign the sign in sheet approximately 10 minutes,waiting for them to ask the Doctor if he would see the woman ahead of me who I repeat did not have an appt.When I got to the front desk I was greeted with did you fill out the new patient paperwork on line .I informed her I was not aware I needed to fill paperwork out on line. I was told being that I was not 30 minutes early for my appt to fill out paperwork they would have to check to see if Doctor would see me. The young lady returned and said the Doctor said he could not see you since your new paper work is not already filled out. I have never been so disgusted with a Doctors office in all my entire life.It took me an hour to get to this appt.I was not late for my appt I arrived at the time my paperwork told me to. I showed the office manager I received an email telling me what time to arrive It had no mention of arriving 30 minutes early . She glanced at the email and said that's the one telling you to fill out paper work on line .I will assume she needed readers because no mention of paperwork was in that email.I am Nurse of 22 yrs and have never seen a patient denied to be seen who arrived to there appt on time!! I explained to her there is no paperwork you could give me that will take me 30 minutes to fill out .Secondly I'm sure the Provider was not ready to see me at that very second and if he was I'm sitting in his face and can answer all questions if needed! I walked into that office in severe pain with numbness running down my arm and tears down my eyes. I was in a car accident. The ER doc at LPMC said that I should follow up with an orthopedist. I contacted them but was told they did not treat people who had been injured in an auto accident and they did not do third party billing. I told them I would be paying cash up front and there would be no third party billing. They again said they do not treat people that have been involved in auto accidents as there is too much litigation. Seriously? I can't really comment on their service -- they wouldn't even spend 60 seconds on the phone with me. read more

Dr. Cooper keeps me going. I have had back issues for 42 years and this is the best back/spine group I have seen. Sometimes it's difficult to get an immediate appointment, but they do their best to work me in if my back "goes out." I've read some of the other reviews and disagree with most of the remarks. I will say that Dr. Cooper is the best. I rarely have to wait for my appointment, sometimes they see me early. Don't really care for the drug testing, but I understand it. read more
