They have collaborated with some great Stateside breweries like Other Half and Cigar City. So, those are especially fun beers to try. We love their outdoor beer garden (there is some indoor seating as well) -- lots of seating, dog friendly, foosball table. The atmosphere reminds me a lot of Austin, TX breweries. Parking is easy and plentiful. Not always the case in Italy! They also have a small food counter that serves delicious "brico," bread topped with all sorts of local ingredients such as squash blossoms, 'nduja, sausage, salami, peppers, and more! So, you can only imagine our pure joy when we discovered Birrone just a few minutes from our new home in Caldogno! They have an extensive offering (8+ beers on draught and even more in the bottle) with something for everyone. I.E. they had an IPA for my hop-head husband and every other style for me. My favorite was the wheat beer, Cibus. Described as "pane liquido" (liquid bread) on the bottle, it was one of the best beers I've had in a while! And, I'm not just saying that because it's hard to find good beer in Italy. Their Cibus could easily hold its own in the US beer scene. The tap room doubles as a restaurant with lots of tasty Italian versions of bar food. On our first visit, we ordered the Tagliere Misto XL, a cutting board that came heaped with piles of porchetta, prosciutto, speck and cheese. Way too much food for 2-people but it was only €10 so we couldn't resist!

They have hoppy beer selections which is not too common in the area. I had a double India Pale Lager and another single IPL. They were both very heavy on the bready malt and had strong hop bitterness with a little boozyness as well. Solid, extra points for willingness to make a high hop beer. Their star was the wheat beer my wife had. It was incredible and since we are only a couple hours from Germany, not a huge surprise their wheat beer was really good. Wow is all you can say when it comes to their beer selection. Being in Italy there is not much…read morecraft beer. There are a few breweries here and there but even rarer is the bar with multiple craft beers on tap. This place, nestled in the bustling old town of Parma is one of the best places for a beer lover in town. They had 10 beers on tap, an awesome Christmas Ale, a solid NEIPA and several other offerings I did not try this trip. Add to this their excellent Tagliere (meat and cheese board) and you have a winning combo. Meat and cheese boards are the standard in Italy obviously but this place takes it from old world Italy and refines it a bit adding a nice fig jam, local honey and the typical regional offerings of Parma. I really enjoyed this place, it will be a must go on the next trip to Parma.
