Intro: On our first full day in Verona, we were looking for a lunch spot before our reservation at Juliet's House. Osteria del Bugiardo was located in a good area so we made our way over to this wine bar. Service (2.5/5): Confusing system. There was a wait for a table but no hostess outside. We eventually talked to someone and she said that while there's no list, she will remember our faces and let us know when a table is ready. Not the most efficient system but we waited about 10 minutes to be seated at the bar. Our waiter took care of us pretty well after we got in. Ambiance (3.5/5): Your typical wine bar. Nice ambiance. The only downside for me is that seating at the bar consisted of bar stools. Without back support. Which I have always hated and which hurts my back. It's also pretty tight in there when they're at capacity. Drinks (4/5): Since this is a wine bar, you know what to order. We had glasses of rose. Not the heaviest pour but the price was solid. If you're not looking for wine, they also have things like Aperol Spritz. Food (4/5): You won't find hearty fare here but you will be able to munch on a lot of small plates. I'm talking things like mini sandwiches, croquettes, meatballs, salads, etc. Which is exactly what we did. We shared a couple of tapas between the two of us. It was filling and did the job. I wasn't stuffed but it was good and on the healthier side. Strolled in here to get a drink and a little something to eat . Charming little bistro on one of the side streets of Verona. Super cool, chill vibe. The staff were fun to watch and the menu was nice and varied. Lots to drink and a great people watching place from my spot at the bar. I had a lovely Aperol spritz and a nice chunk of focaccia. So fresh and warm and the olive oil was still glistening on it. Superb crusty melt in your mouth stuff! They had a nice space inside and seemed like a nice place to get a drink or dinner. First stop on our Veronese food tour, Bugiardo is a hit. This is a local restaurant, not dedicated to the tourists and full of impressive looking delicious bites. A selection of interesting rounds of sliced baguette topped with a variety of local and attractive treats. Shrimp salad, parma ham, cabbage and aged cheese, local ham with sweet potatoes, Just lots to choose from so I landed on the insta-worthy red cabbage. How could I not enjoy something that pretty and purple? We enjoyed it with a glass of fantastic local red wine. Service was attentive, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and it's in a part of town full of character. I would definitely return to Bugiardo for antipasto to start the evening. Recommended by our Venetian friends, we went. It was right by the water.. our server was so knowledgeable and courteous and everything we ate was absolutely delicious! Luckily, we happened to visit in November when the soft shell crab were in season. They came fried in an egg batter with artichoke wedges. Then, we got Branzino stuffed ravioli on a bed of creamed burnt onions, topped with grated battarga (dried fish eggs) and olives. Yum! Definitely worth the visit! So good! read more

We always enjoyed a bit of bar-hopping in Italy, enjoying some Cicchetti with a bit of wine or Vino Spumante / Prosecco. In old-town Verona this is not easy to find, it's just more tourist-oriented. But luckily there is this fantastic place. Quite small with a bunch of tables inside and some space to stand outside in front of their two windows (looking straight at the customers inside, which is quite funny). Since we had our dog with, we stayed outside and enjoyed their food and wine. The Cicchetti are very nice-looking. Some with Speck, some with cured ham, veggie options etc. Not every item is a hit, but still a good snack. They also have some nice cheese here, you should try some. One of them is really good, with chili. But not a great pairing with wine though, go for Prosecco then. The real highlight are the Vino Spumante / Proseccos and wine though. The Vino Spumante Brut Rosé is not only looking good with it's light pink color, it tastes great as well. Not overly sour and with some nice citrus / peach flavours. Better than the Brut Bianco they serve. The red "Il Bugiardo" Ripasso from the Valpolicella is a great wine. Dark red, balanced tannins, light wooden flavours from the barrels and a dark fruit flavour on your palate. Great choice. But let's save the best for last: You MUST try their amazing Amarone (Il Lussurioso). One of the best Amarones we came across yet. And we've had our share of wines. An explosion of flavours. Deep dark red, cherry and plum flavours, tannins oh so smooth and balanced. A wine to enjoy best after or without food. Costs 10 Euros a glass, 60 a bottle (or 40 if you carry-out). We purchased a bottle for 40 Euros to enjoy that night at home. Put it in a decanter and let it breathe for a while. A great great bottle of wine from their own vineyards. And for 40 Euros it really is a steal! We enjoyed Verona, but this place here really made it worth the visit. Highly recommended! read more

We walked a few times past this place but it was always super busy so we skipped it several times during our week long stay in Verona but on our last day, we managed to grab a counter spot for two. I had the Beef Tartare which is one of my favorite dishes in general and it was extremely delicious. It was so good that we wanted a second plate but unfortunately it was sold out for the day. It seems to be one of the more popular dishes as many people inquired about it and they had to tell them it was gone. We also had a cheese and cured meat platter which was of very high quality, certainly the best one we had all week in Italy and we had many! However, the real star was the Ripasso wine, it was very good for the price and we truly enjoyed it with the food! Since we were seated at the corner we did get the opportunity to chat with the staff, even though they were still super busy, they were extremely friendly and happy to accommodate our requests. A very cute little pub-restaurant located in the shopping district of Verona. The waiter who helped us didn't speak English, so we had to do a bit of miming, but it all worked out. I started with a glass of amarone, which was amazing. I would have bought a bottle if I weren't afraid of it breaking on the way home! Both my companion and I got the lasagna (the dish I originally ordered wasn't available), and it was the best lasagna I've ever had in my life, and probably the best I will ever have. I didn't know it was possible to have such delicious lasagna, honestly. The pieces we each got looked a bit small when the waiter brought them out, but once we started eating we each didn't completely finish, the lasagna was so rich! I really wish someone could tell us what they did to make this so good, because I think I had a real religious experience eating this lasagna!! read more

We came in super late in the afternoon (around 4pm?) and got some house wine (amazing) and beers on tap. I went to the front to their display case to pick food, and the server patiently explained to me what each was. We got their polpetta (meatball - not so good), grilled salami (so fatty, tasted like spam), cooked cabbage (AMAZING), cooked mushrooms (good), and cured ham cut from the giant leg at the counter (AMAZING). The food I just named, a glass of wine, a pint of beer, and a bottle of natural water (look like tap), some bread in a bag came to a total of 39 EUR. Not cheap. Large portions though. It's a wine bar that serves food. It was filled with locals, travellers, families and couples. We came for the wine but everyone's food looked delicious. We took a seat at the bar and had no trouble ordering with our poor Italian. Much to our delight the music was on spotify and played 90's hits. It was amusing as we expected something a little more, I don't know.. Italian? I don't think it was on the regular playlist. Fun atmosphere, good service and just a nice place to be. This is owned by a winery and is an outpost for their wine. Their Ripasso and Amerone wines are some of the best I've ever had and great prices. Also order the ravioli/tortolleni to eat. I had my best meal in Verona, Italy in this restaurant. I ordered a platter of italian meats and their house (white) wine while waiting for a table. The meats were real 'Italian' good. Fat melts in your mouth on contact. The house wine was the best white wine I have ever had - super grapey but not sweet or sour. The carpaccio and steak tar tar were the highlights of my stay in Verona (well...at least second to my sister's wedding which was the reason I was there in the first place). This will have to be one of my favorite restaurants in the world. read more
