So here's the thing with Orkin…read more First of all, when they sent the document basically wanting blanket auth to charge anything they wanted on my card...no. I refused to sign that, instead I pay by check for each service. You need to know your rights - you are NOT required to give them a credit/debit card nor should you. I understand in this era of fast payments you don't want to write a check - you go right ahead and give that card while they charge endlessly to where you're forced to do a stop. Go right ahead. I digress. Second, the techs (both of them) were respectful, polite and seemed to want to do the best job. The problem is procedure. Orkin is a "spray and pray" service. They don't triage to understand EXACTLY what's wrong. They'll tell you "oh, that's a free service if you want it", then charge you to fix it. So the spray guys are essentially just spraying chemicals with unknown health impacts to the residents and without understanding whether it's even necessary to begin with. The first guy was specifically told that I needed to understand how insects are even getting in to begin with. He said he would look around. After he was done, he mentioned he had placed stick traps and to keep an eye out. The problem with this: he placed stick traps at two of the window wells that, when the wind really kicked up, I observed that basically there was a 6-inch gap between the floor joist and the well glass, such that you could even stick your arm completely out. He never brought this to attention, but it means there was no way he checked. I remediated these myself with R38. Insects are still present outside with no noticeable decrease. 90% decrease of insects inside the basement (after my insulation install). So that was $150 for (basically) four stick traps that cost about $20 total. Second guy comes, and I tell him to just spray the outside since the inside was an oversight of the first guy and not an actual interior infestation. He shakes his head (at the ineptitude of the first guy), apologizes that happened, the proceeds to spray. The problem with this: he never asked about specific types of insects. The invoice said that he sprayed for spiders only. While it is true that there's a bit of a spider problem, there are way more problems, such as flies that congregate around the outdoor lights, ladybugs (this is a BIG problem), silverfish, and other crawly type insects. So another $100 for a service that didn't cover the actual problem. Someone reached out after I submitted a service review, and I explained the oversight of the first guy (the second guy was just doing his job and never made any direct promises or statements of what he would do). She says, basically, that they don't look for problems, they just spray, it's another group that actually looks for problems. Just like it's another group that does sealing, etc. I told them to cancel immediately (and they don't have my card, so they don't have a choice in the matter). In summary: Orkin's "spray and pray" might work for less aware homeowners, maybe? But it's not the right answer. What they need to do is create a task force approach: - Assessment guy (or gal) goes out there WITH the spray guy (or gal) and WITH the insulation guy (or gal) to do a walkthrough of all known problems. - Assessment person makes a plan with the other two about how they're going to solve the problem. - Between the three of them they rotate visits doing their thing while Assessment person continually checks for needed adjustments to the plan, until the situation is solved. I know why they don't do this. It's because their charges are 95% labor. To do it right, they would need to charge you $500/visit, and they know most homeowners won't do that (because most homeowners won't pay unless and until they know it's fixed). The way you solve that is with a lien if they don't pay. Either way, I would never recommend this. And I'm aware that Terminix and others do basically the same thing.

Waukesha manager claimed he came to check the job on August 1st 2023, after I complained about work not completed, and he stated he came to house, I was home and never knew, stating the job was finished. After several calls to TERMINIX and complaints. They came 8 months later to "FINISH" the original job I paid $4700 dollars for. Then when I asked for my Prepaid annual renewal fee back of $180, the Waukesha manager stated only if I cancel my service date of April 11, 2024. When that was for the work that was NEVER completed. Why would I want service for an additional year with the lack of service I received?? AND if still under the first year contract!! Manager was untruthful and argumentative when I asked Contact 6 to reach out to TERMINIX. Poor service, no follow through, and poor communication on TERMINIX as a company. Worst mistake I have ever made was to request there services for mice control.

You see, I am terrified of 8-legged arachnids. They know this, so they plot various attacks in an attempt to drive me out of the house (it's a duplex). Most recently, 3 such evil spawns that were - legit - larger than my husband's hand bombarded the front door while I was outside with my dog, thus preventing me from entering. Thank goodness my husband was home to execute the intruders. In addition to the Jurassic Park sized arachnids, I have house centipedes the size of a mouse zooming around. Now, I have an agreement with these dudes: they can survive and eat the arachnids as long as they remain in the basement. Breaking this agreement generally does not fare well for them. Do you know what it's like to be laying peacefully on the carpet watching a movie, and a "cockamouse" comes running out of nowhere at 90 mph and brushes your hand?! It's seriously yucky. Batzner to the rescue! They showed up within a couple days of calling. They treat all around the outside and inside the house, wherever you would like. The service techs they have sent out have been very friendly, funny, and my dog likes them (that's always a good sign). The treatments we've experienced lasted 8-10 months. Because I didn't hire them, I am unsure of the rates (hence, 4 stars). As long as they can effectively keep the nasties away, they are good with me!

We have a large property with a pond and fields around us,,,, perfect areas for mosquitos who would otherwise drive us indoors. Mosquito Squad makes it possible for us to enjoy our outdoor environment which is why we chose this property The Mosquito Squad technicians are always friendly, polite and efficient but our most recent service was performed by Cyrus and Jerel. These guys were great! It is typical for the Tech to ring the bell and announce that they are there to perform the service. Cyrus and Jerel did that but also asked if there was anything in particular they needed to know about the property or if there was anything special they wanted us to do, or areas to avoid . We went over a few things and they reminded us to keep our dog indoors for 30 minutes after the treatment. We just had all our windows replaced the week before and I have not reinstalled all the window treatment yet. As a result it was very easy to observe everything they were doing. I was extremely impressed at how thorough and how careful they were insuring that the entire property was treated including lawn, landscaping beds, trees and tree lines and the areas we asked to avoid were carefully not treated. They walked around the pond treating the shoreline. They then double checked to ensure they had performed the job correctly. They then rang the bell to tell us they were done, explained what they had done and reminded us to keep our dog indoors for 30 minutes Really VERY good guys who did a great job and took tremendous pride in their work and were concerned with customer care and customer satisfaction In a day and age when we have been conditioned to accept minimal quality service, Cyrus and Jerel blew me away. Thanks Mosquito Squad for setting high standards and for guys like Cyrus and Jerel who take it all very seriously and made us feel good about being your customer.
