I've had Captive for a couple of years. The agents they send out are nice and I haven't had to have anything retreated. My complaint is customer service. I have call more times than I can count. I only want service on a quarterly basis but they keep scheduling me for six to eight weeks. I'm ready to find someone with customer service that actually listens and does what you ask. read more

I wish I saw these reviews before I signed the dotted line. A sales rep came to my door when I moved in and offered an annual treatment. I agreed to ONLY the annual treatment. Once the year was up I told the worker to cancel my account. He said he'd take care of it. Another worker came out a month or two later and treated my house regardless and charged $150. After talking on the phone with them for over half of an hour they completely refused to give any amount of a refund. Shady business. I highly recommend staying away. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I am filing a complaint with the BBB for their completely shady business practices from their sales rep. He offered an intro treatment and just said (and I have a witness that was with me) just initial here for the services. He explained NOTHING about being locked in for 18 months, in fact, said I can go online and change services anytime. He didn't mention whatsoever that if I cancel the contract that I didn't even know I was signing that I would have to pay the difference from the intro price. NONE OF IT. I spoke to three different people, and they tried everything to distract me / keep me as a customer. I would rate them a negative if it were available. The salesperson promised things the people that came out said they were unwilling to do. Have had a wasp issue all summer even though they were there 4 times to spray. Put out 1 trap on 4 acres. Same with misquitos. 1 trap 4 acres. Only sprayed 2 feet from the house. Still have spiders in the garage even after 4 treatments. Called to cancel and they put you on hold for hours and won't call you back. Worst company I have ever worked with. read more

Apparently, Aptive sales representatives have no idea what "No Soliciting" means. One has been canvassing our neighborhood and repeatedly knocking and ringing doorbells despite several of us telling him we are not interested and having NO SOLiCITING signs on our doors. Many of us have him on RING cameras and will be reporting him and this company to the local authorities and the BBB. I am the President of our HOA and I have had six complaints so far about this rep in the last week. read more

I highly discouraged use of this service. I tried it for one year and tried to cancel the service which was incredibly hard to do; they do not clearly publish their contact number on texts/emails and the web page offers no cancel option ( optional to reschedule service but not cancel ). And if you insist on canceling, you'll find an xincredibly Hugh penalty. I had to insist on a notice before service and when I complained about service not working on insects, I was told either wait or that the treatment did not deal with the problem. VALUE? NO. Don't do it. Don't fall for the "...your 7 neighbors signed up so we can offer you a discount!" THE SERVICE DOES NOT WORK. Warning: There's a paragraph in the contract that charges you $199 to cancel--and they do charge it. My situation was that I cancelled after 3 applications because my ant infestation was not affected by anything they supposedly did. They also neglected to remove a hornets nest on their last visit. I showed them multiple photographs but they charged me a cancellation fee anyway. This is my second time hiring and firing Aptive. I should have learned the first time. They lied stated there was no contract and I can cancel anytime. we'll that was a lie. aThey showed up and I watched theperson fill a container with plain water. then knock on my door. I laughed said proceed then explained I seen them use water from my hose and I have cameras everywhere. lied again told me it was to dilute a chemical. I use Aptive for pest mitigation including rodents. A mouse buildt a nest in my lawn tractor leading to a fire totalling the tractor. Aptive effortlessly turned their back on the situation. Would bot return phone calls and complete bailed on their customer. Dont make the same mistake I did. Stay away from this company and find someone else. You have been warned. read more

Signed a contract with them this summer and so far some bugs seem totally under control, the spiders for some reason are worse than I've ever seen them in the 35 years I've lived here. It's crazy like the spiders are ATTRACTED here since they started spraying! I started to have an issue with the stink bugs last week and they came right out to spray again. it's only been a few days and I'm walking into webs outside and all around my house every single time I go out plus the stink bugs are back in full force. The stink bugs were on my list of my most major concerns when I signed up so I have to assume they are incapable of getting rid of them. The customer service so far has been great and I find no centipedes, ants or ear wigs that have previously annoyed me but if your problem is spiders or stink bugs beware and seek someone else!! read more

Aptive came out to our house trying to get us to sign up. He stopped by earlier in the day, and then came back later. They tried a hard sell, but after the salesman was done he cut across our lawn, walking through an area covered with straw that we had reseeded. My wife said something to him and he replied he always cuts across yards. If they show such a lack of respect for your property and a willingness to cut corners, can you imagine how they will handle any kind of problem? If they show up, send them on their way immediately and tell them not to cut across your lawn. read more

The sales representative told us that their product was environmentally friendly and safe for butterflies but the technician who actually sprays the products contradicted that claim and said their products would KILL the butterflies. Had this company for years up until yesterday. My received a call from a call center in India. Because it appears this company can not keep Americans working, and has moved their office jobs overseas. This very rude foreigner decides he is going to light up my wife over what they claimed was an unpaid service visit. My wife provided detail and proof that we were current on our payments. Then this Mumbia menace starts yelling at my wife. She then asked to speak to an American representative, but there was none to be had. She was then directed to a "supervisor" for another dose of the same treatment. Never ever go to this company. Whatever has happened to this company has plunged it down the bowl. I have been an Aptive customer for 3 years. Last year COVID hit so I was patient with their terrible customer service and inability to reach anyone via phone or email. However, in December 2020, their service and actions were unacceptable. They stopped caring about existing customers and only focus on sales department. They rescheduled my appointment three times, sometimes the same day of the appointment I received an email about cancellation, after I stayed home to wait for their agent. Not even a phone call to apologize. When I called to cancel my membership, they couldn't care less, again, no compensation, no apology. I recommend to stay away from this company. read more

I got a different story about how to treat for stink bugs for MONTHS, and tonight was the final call - appently they do not even treat for stink bugs. Well no wonder the problem isn't any better. They are responsible and reach out to let me know when they come to service my home. This company took advantage of my parents who were in their 90's. They setup an email account with a false phone number to send their schedule too. Took a check for automatic payments. Have had this service for a few years. Never really noticed a difference and when we do have an issue they state they cannot treat it. They started offering mosquito service, I called to inquire and they said it was included in my package. When they came out again they said it would be an additional charge. Sales lady did a great job explaining the cost and services. Our tech was perfectly on time. Did a great job reconfirming everything he was going to do. He also talked me through exactly how the treatments work and how other customers like to do them. He seemed to care deeply about the results of the treatment and I'm looking forward to the follow ups. Sounds like pricing and policies vary by the reps you have. I guess you should read the contract closely before signing up to see if yours are offering fair terms. Here's what ours are: $99 discounted first visit. $129 per quarterly visit. 12 month contract. If you cancel before 12 months you have to pay the diff between the discounted first visit and it's normal price. That normal price is $249 so it'd cost us $150 to cancel. read more

Terrible company that almost killed my dogs. The service seemed to be fine, but I honestly couldn't tell if they made much of an impact in the year that we had them. But, during one visit one of the techs accidentally left a bait box filled with poison wide open in our yard. One of my dogs got into it, and the others very well could have. After being very apologetic initially, the managers began to ignore me. I provided documentation of vet bills and emergency bills to the tune of a whopping $350, and they were unwilling to take responsibility for a mistake they know was there. Terrible customer service and we immediately cancelled the service. Rather than paying a few hundred dollars as they should have, they chose to lose a customer and lose out on thousands of dollars over the coming years. Brilliant business minds over there. read more

Fraud - Beware!!! I switched in 2021 and reported pets to control of mice and carpenter ants. I was on the quarterly plan but caught them billing us 5 times a year. They issued 2 service credits. We didnt really have any problems with carpenter ants until this year. I called to let them know and they said we dont treat for carpenter ants. No wonder we're having problems. I hope there isn't any damage to our home as a result of their fraud. They were unable to refund us for the fraudulent charges. read more

They send a guy riding a small Segway type... then high pressure sales tactics are used. The price was all over the place and used examples of other neighbors that were using them. In short, they cleaned a few cobwebs. They sprayed something that didn't work on any of the bugs. We're suppose to come back and check in 10 days and didn't. When I finally called they didn't want to come out, but did. It was raining so they were going to call or email later in the week and they didn't. I asked about the chipmunks and they put a trap out for them..... got nothing and they denied they'd done it on the return redo visit.... my wife finally called and just canceled the service and we were charged an additional $186... I had the misfortune of signing on with this company after hearing that many of my neighbors also used this service ... WRONG! After experiencing no improvement in the bug issue, I checked with my neighbors and found out this was not true. DO NOT sign on with this company ... they do NOT provide positive results. I called and cancelled in July, 2020. They are trying to bill me for a service done in August when, again, the service was cancelled. The Customer Service is awful ... I would not recommend this company because I had awful customer service and communication before services started. Fortunately got out before I was charged. Consistent 20-30 min wait time on phone. Only one number to call, connected to national company but could not transfer or give me numbers to talk with local office. When questions asked, not thoroughly answered or policy explained related to my questions. Luckily got out before they took my money as noted by others. If you have any conversations with their loyalty team or service team make sure to get it in writing. After being unsatisfied with their coordination between sales and service, did cancel their services. At time of cancellation it was expressed that they would stop the last service and not charge cancellation. Received a notice 1 month after this interaction that they were performing last service. When i contacted them to say that we no longer use their services, they sent a charge of $200. After 1 hour of working with their corporate center, it was finally discovered what they offered 1 month sooner. Would stay away from this company. read more

I really thought that Aptive was going to be great. They're new to the Madison, WI area, but their reviews looked great. They promised so much and were so friendly. The first treatment was thorough, and the technician spent plenty of time with me. I actually wondered how they make money! Since then, treatments have been spotty, and I've had to call for reapplications that never happened. We have an acre or two of lawn and what we mostly wanted was to knock down the mosquitos and we pay extra for this each month. Only the first treatment included the entire lawn, and the two follow-up treatments afterwards did not - not even the requested follow-up visits. The bait traps and mosquito traps have been empty and dry for weeks. The mosquitos and other bugs are as bad as they usually are each summer with no noticeable improvement. After only three treatments all summer and none so far this fall, we still have 4 more applications to pay for as we head into our Wisconsin winter... when there are no bugs! Even more maddening is that Aptive uses the same 7.9% Bifen I/T concentrate that most anyone can buy online. The active ingredient, Bifenthrin is the same .03% dilution contained in Ortho Home Defense that can be purchased at local hardware stores and applied both inside and outside your home. I've already called to pay the $199 termination fee and cut my losses. I think Aptive might be alright for small suburban yards if they show up, but once your yard is measured in terms of acreage, don't expect them to spray the entire lawn even if you pay the extra $49 for mosquito spraying.
