After over 30 minutes on the phone, the Owner was a NO Call, NO show to scheduled apt. Not a good impression.

Didn't take care of my mice but tried to sell pest control. Proceed with caution. Very fast…read moreresponse

So here's the thing with Orkin…read more First of all, when they sent the document basically wanting blanket auth to charge anything they wanted on my card...no. I refused to sign that, instead I pay by check for each service. You need to know your rights - you are NOT required to give them a credit/debit card nor should you. I understand in this era of fast payments you don't want to write a check - you go right ahead and give that card while they charge endlessly to where you're forced to do a stop. Go right ahead. I digress. Second, the techs (both of them) were respectful, polite and seemed to want to do the best job. The problem is procedure. Orkin is a "spray and pray" service. They don't triage to understand EXACTLY what's wrong. They'll tell you "oh, that's a free service if you want it", then charge you to fix it. So the spray guys are essentially just spraying chemicals with unknown health impacts to the residents and without understanding whether it's even necessary to begin with. The first guy was specifically told that I needed to understand how insects are even getting in to begin with. He said he would look around. After he was done, he mentioned he had placed stick traps and to keep an eye out. The problem with this: he placed stick traps at two of the window wells that, when the wind really kicked up, I observed that basically there was a 6-inch gap between the floor joist and the well glass, such that you could even stick your arm completely out. He never brought this to attention, but it means there was no way he checked. I remediated these myself with R38. Insects are still present outside with no noticeable decrease. 90% decrease of insects inside the basement (after my insulation install). So that was $150 for (basically) four stick traps that cost about $20 total. Second guy comes, and I tell him to just spray the outside since the inside was an oversight of the first guy and not an actual interior infestation. He shakes his head (at the ineptitude of the first guy), apologizes that happened, the proceeds to spray. The problem with this: he never asked about specific types of insects. The invoice said that he sprayed for spiders only. While it is true that there's a bit of a spider problem, there are way more problems, such as flies that congregate around the outdoor lights, ladybugs (this is a BIG problem), silverfish, and other crawly type insects. So another $100 for a service that didn't cover the actual problem. Someone reached out after I submitted a service review, and I explained the oversight of the first guy (the second guy was just doing his job and never made any direct promises or statements of what he would do). She says, basically, that they don't look for problems, they just spray, it's another group that actually looks for problems. Just like it's another group that does sealing, etc. I told them to cancel immediately (and they don't have my card, so they don't have a choice in the matter). In summary: Orkin's "spray and pray" might work for less aware homeowners, maybe? But it's not the right answer. What they need to do is create a task force approach: - Assessment guy (or gal) goes out there WITH the spray guy (or gal) and WITH the insulation guy (or gal) to do a walkthrough of all known problems. - Assessment person makes a plan with the other two about how they're going to solve the problem. - Between the three of them they rotate visits doing their thing while Assessment person continually checks for needed adjustments to the plan, until the situation is solved. I know why they don't do this. It's because their charges are 95% labor. To do it right, they would need to charge you $500/visit, and they know most homeowners won't do that (because most homeowners won't pay unless and until they know it's fixed). The way you solve that is with a lien if they don't pay. Either way, I would never recommend this. And I'm aware that Terminix and others do basically the same thing.

You see, I am terrified of 8-legged arachnids. They know this, so they plot various attacks in an attempt to drive me out of the house (it's a duplex). Most recently, 3 such evil spawns that were - legit - larger than my husband's hand bombarded the front door while I was outside with my dog, thus preventing me from entering. Thank goodness my husband was home to execute the intruders. In addition to the Jurassic Park sized arachnids, I have house centipedes the size of a mouse zooming around. Now, I have an agreement with these dudes: they can survive and eat the arachnids as long as they remain in the basement. Breaking this agreement generally does not fare well for them. Do you know what it's like to be laying peacefully on the carpet watching a movie, and a "cockamouse" comes running out of nowhere at 90 mph and brushes your hand?! It's seriously yucky. Batzner to the rescue! They showed up within a couple days of calling. They treat all around the outside and inside the house, wherever you would like. The service techs they have sent out have been very friendly, funny, and my dog likes them (that's always a good sign). The treatments we've experienced lasted 8-10 months. Because I didn't hire them, I am unsure of the rates (hence, 4 stars). As long as they can effectively keep the nasties away, they are good with me!

They returned 2 weeks later and treated again, returned 2 weeks later and treated again. Was told at the last 2 rechecks all was clear. That was not the case. Monday February 16, 2026 at 9 am they returned for a recheck and I was told all clear. By Tuesday February 17, 2026 at 2 am, bites were apparent, which caused a severe allergic reaction necessitating a trip to the clinic. I found the bed bugs where the technician cleared and said all good. Called Batzner Feb,17, 18, 19, 20, 23. I am still waiting for that phone call within 24 hours!! $4000 for what? 3 trips to the emergency room and still have issues.

I would recommend these guys a million times over. We had a…read moresmall infestation that we had suspected but couldn't confirm for months until finally I found a single bug and caught him in a jar. We called Terminix first for a free inspection but their performance was lackluster. Their guy checked our bedroom but never pinpointed the source of the problem and quoted me $800 for a treatment anyway. Didn't inspire much confidence so I called Affordable Bed Bug Exterminators instead because they sounded so professional on the phone, they quoted me less than half the price and I figured they would be more specialized anyway. When I talked to Doug on the phone, I actually asked him why they're so cheap, and he explained they're a much smaller company with more efficiency and less waste so they are able to charge less. Sold! They sent James out to us the next day to treat our apartment as well as our downstairs neighbors' to be safe and within 10 minutes I was glad I chose ABBE. He located the bed bugs right away nestled away in our headboard and showed them to me. He was so patient and answered my many questions and he was so kind to my neighbor who was overwhelmed with the whole ordeal. His sweet demeanor gave us so much peace in an otherwise traumatizing and violating situation. Afterward I let my bed bug prisoner out of the jar to walk around in some of the treatment sprayed along our baseboards then put him back in the jar to watch what would happen. He was sufficiently dead by the next day. Sorry little blood sucking cretin, it was me or you. It's been almost a month and I'm so happy to report no more bites! So glad we chose Affordable!

I discovered a bed bug and I wanted to burn my house down, I was so grossed out. I called Affordable Bed Bug Exterminators as soon as they opened and spoke with Doug (I was a bit frantic). He was great at explaining the process of treatment, bed bugs activity, and dos/don'ts before my exterminator appointment. He also explained how it really can happen to anyone and you can bring them home from pretty much anywhere. After reading reviews this is the only company I felt comfortable with to do the job and do it right! I was really freaked out and Doug answered all my questions during our first call and even my call(s) after that lol. John (11 years experience) completed the service and was so professional, kind, and wonderful as well. Again I had a list of questions and he answered them all before he got started. My cat and I left for the day and he did his thing. I came back later that night and was happy to see all my treated furniture and the dead bugs on my box spring. I trusted the process and I would say it's a success. Follow their instructions on the website and papers and you should be good. Remember the point is for any remaining bugs to walk across the treated surface so they die...I felt weird being 'bait' for the first few nights back in my bed, but I trusted the process and have seen no evidence of any bugs since. I know they can go dormant for a bit so I will be living out of bags for the next 2 weeks...but I feel confident in that they got rid of those things for good!! Thank you Doug and John for your help!! I will definitely recommend you guys to anyone that needs it!!
