This past week I went into SpiderBite to get my tragus pierced and on another day to get my tattoo (which I had done somewhere else) touched up and to have color added. Nick did my piercing and piercings for a friend of mine- both came out really great. Jason did my tattoo and made it look a hundred times better. Just got my first tattoo ever. At 60 years old, I was nervous. I had the family crest motto inked across the shoulders. Jason did a great job. Unlike reviews from 4 years ago, all the people in the shop were friendly and more than happy to answer my 'virgin' questions. The actual tattoo did sting but not as bad as I had anticipated. Jason was great. He set the stage for a good experience and all was good. My wife and daughter sat in, which made it even better. Spider Bite was fun. It is amazing to see what people have done. Went with my husband on 6/18/2016. Matt was the artist. His artwork was top notch and his professionalism was outstanding. I and my husband love the tattoo Matt did for him. I am planning on having Matt do two tattoos for me! Can't wait! The place was comfy, clean and professional looking. Each worker that we spoke to was nice and helpful. I would have given this place a perfect 5star but I have to travel one and a half hours to get there and it's first come first serve. Absolutely awful, i went in to get a tattoo, which they charged me $120 for. I have other tattoos that are double the size and way more detailed and they were significantly less then that. They are rude and act like you are an idiot and should be privileged that they are even working on you. I was told that my tattoo was not going to look good the way I asked them to do it, and I had to battle with them just to get it the way i asked. I understand I'm not a tattoo artist and i appreciate an idea or two to make it look better, but they were very rude about it. Also my tattoo artist who did mine complained about how tired she was the whole time, and seemed like she was on a lot of drugs. I have gotten tattoos at other places since (all less than 10 minutes away) and they were all way nicer and did much better work, for a much cheaper price. Also they have and older guy there that does tattoos and he is terrible. He has ruined two of my friends tattoos that were very basic. He did terrible shading and had crooked lines. He also scarred up my friends tattoo by setting up the machine wrong and went too deep. I've gone to Spiderbite for piercing since I was first allowed to get my navel done when I was sixteen. Three of my tattoos are from there, including the first one I'd ever gotten on my 18th birthday (which is nothing impressive, but that's not their fault; it's mine). I've come back year after year, for a reason - the quality is unbeatable (especially when it comes to piercing). The staff I've worked with have been incredibly nice, albeit a little intimidating - but I'm very easy to intimidate. I cannot stress the quality of the piercing group enough! I'm not as familiar on a personal level with the tattoo artists (the last time I was in there for a tattoo was 2009 - plan on remedying that) but I got the itch for a surface piercing in June and I immediately knew where to go for this tricky little piece - and Jareb did such a great job, the addiction's back! Can't wait to go back in for more. The ONLY reason this has four stars instead of five is because you CANNOT expect to walk in there and not pay some amount of money - but that's also for a reason - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR (first rule of tattoo artistry, I think.) TL;DR - This place puts out *consistently* impressive work! Don't pass them up just because of nasty things you've heard from other (competitive) shops - walk in and make friends and figure it out for yourself! Went here for a second ear piercing this past weekend. Morgan and Farley both helped me while I was here. They were both really nice and helpful. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone after the experiences I've had here, period. The woman who did my piercings did a nice job of getting them at the same angle (I got both nipples done vertically), but one of them was much, much shallower than the other one. I thought maybe I was imagining things or that over time it would be fine so I left it in. After about a month you could see it through the front of my nipple... actual metal showing through. I went back to have her look at it and she didn't think anything was wrong, she said if anything the other one looked like it wasn't healing as well. At this point I still thought maybe I was wrong and really didn't want to take out my new piercing so I still left it in. Both piercings took forever to heal, I cleaned them exactly as told and was very careful with them but still constantly seemed to be having trouble, even 7 months later. I finally took out the shallower one, if anything it seemed to be getting worse not better. Fast forward to a year and a half after they were pierced: the one I left in has been giving me trouble ever since, so finally I found a shop that was highly recommended and decided as a last resort before taking it out to have them look at it. He says that the actual placing of the piercing and the size of the jewelry looks good, takes the jewelry out to examine it and finds that not only is it cheap externally threaded (probably nickel) jewelry, but there are also fine scratches running all up and down the bar. What I thought was a reoccurring infection this whole time was in fact irritation from the jewelry. Not only that, but the original jewelry cost me as much as the new (internally threaded, medical grade) barbell that it was replaced with. I had all sorts of other minor problems with this place, but the problems with poor piercing placement and crappy jewelry say enough on their own. Please stay away from here... this seems like the type of place where all they care about is their image, not doing a quality job. read more

I actually go into spider bite a lot to get cleaner and accessories they sell on the shelves. staff is very poor in customer service. girl behind front desk with glasses actually said she would not run my visa as credit because it actually charges spider bite through the banks...its a credit card I asked you to run it as credit please. and she refufused. also staff bumps into you when walking around the store like their apartment. they are always eating and drinking behind the front desk where threy do hand to hand transactions. very unsanitized. the only good think about the store is the array of products nevermind all the fake drugs for sale read more

This place has made a complete turn around from what I've been reading here. I went here after not being in for a few years and admittedly a few years ago the place wasn't the greatest. I was blown away by the level of artistry that Spider Bite has now. They have all new artists who are friendly knowledgeable and courteous and all do fantastic work. I'm not sure about all the negative reviews. I have had two tattoos done here and I love them both. The staff seems easy going, talented, and knowledgable. People have told me that it's not that great of a place but I really see nothing wrong with it. Many seem to laugh because it's not strictly for tattoos but also does body piercing, tanning, a limo service and i think one other thing. To say they are not a "real" tattoo place because they have broadened their horizons and do more than just tattoos is ignorant. Tried to get an arm piece done that was also a coverup. I saw dave McCormick who said it wouldn't be a problem since cover ups are his specialty. I saw him for about four sessions, after I told him I wasn't interested in "hooking up" with him he disappeared. Wouldn't answer my messages or anything. Now I have an unfinished, unprofessional tattoo on my forearm. I will never go back there and I will let everyone know what a scumbag that "artist" is! I went in to get a piercing, the guy at the desk seemed very nice! The place seemed really clean and sanitary. The piercer walked me into the room and had me lay down and pierced me really quick, handed me the care instruction paper and told me I can come out when I'm ready. There was under 10 words spoken in that room lol.. I've seen other piercings and this one was pierced uneven and lower than it should be. I went in a couple of days later and went to the same piercer and he immediately brought me into the room and checked it out. He told me he could give me another bar for free a different day when the owner wasn't there. (Not excited about possibly having the ball embed since it wasn't the correct size or pierced correctly.) so I politely left and went to medusa in the Salem mall which is strictly piercing. (Not a few different things all over the place like spider bite.) medusa replaced spider bites mess up with no charge! I paid $65 at spider bite and got the same piercing at medusa for $40! This was my first & last time at this Tattoo palor, First off the staff here was not friendly in any way, to me or other customers i seen there. However they were running a special, and i wanted to give it a try. First of the the lady that did my tat, was not the cleanest, she was scratching herself, arms, leg, back, while preping the supplies, but she NEVER washed her hands before putting on gloves!! (paper towels were tapes to a rollie cart, no sanitization here folks, and other supplies just thrown in a draw,) I thought maybe i had been spoiled at my regular place, she was on speed or some other drugs her eyes were very dilaited, she also put the tat on in a way my regular guy dosen"t do it, she had me sit, not stand for the positioning of it, (leg tat) ~ we'll it is now crooked !!! and my REAL tat artist will have to fix it, also she keep putting her special tat cream on it, saying this was the best stuff, and tatting it into my skin, it also has a large holiday in the black work, i have over 36 tattoos and have never got an infection, i now have one thanks to her, & her cleanliness, i would rather go pay hundreds more to have it fixed by a real tattooist, then to go back to her and have it fixed free, read more

i had my belly button pierced here a week ago. i would not recommend this place at all. first of all the girl at the front desk was on her phone texting the whole time. they rushed you in and out and didnt fully explain the healing and aftercare process. my piercing even came out crooked and i am so annoyed since i spent $76 here!! i almost walked out with my release form as well and wasnt given my aftercare sheet since the girl at the front desk was too preoccupied with her phone. i wouldnt recommend anyone coming here. read more

So the guy who did my piercing did a good job, it was very quick and I didnt feel a thing. However super pricey and they gave me no cleaning or after care instruction at all. They had a dog hanging out in the shop as well, and I love dogs but it seemed odd ya know? After about a month it got infected and super gnarly and after contacting them I still got no real advice for after care. The girl at the desk copped a serious attitude and I felt super uncomfortable being there. Also my friend went there to get her nose pierced and they didnt do a great job, they didnt place it properly and she said a girl came out horrifically crying from her nose piercing, which wasnt a typical nose piercing cry. She also got her nipples pierced there and they pierced those too far back and they have yet to heal and its been a year and a half and they are super painful to her.
