So I wrote a review when I got my work done and honestly I was pretty happy with it however I see the same thing happening to other people being talked out of what they want and that also happen to me and my wife only our tattoos never got finished it still looks the same as the day I got it black and white he was supposed to finish it 2 days later he never answered us. Excellent service and work but 300$ is way too much for 1 hour of tattooing and I feel taken advantage of. I usually budget higher than I expect and don't talk price beforehand because I don't want money or time constraints to effect quality of my piece. But being charged $300 after a small 3x3" tattoo that took one hour? Left feeling like I got robbed. Definitely make sure you are getting a decent hourly rate if you go here and discuss beforehand. I feel like the man saw an opportunity to take advantage of my friend and I and took it because he knew we wouldn't confront him about it and would pay up. We were there 2.5 hrs total and together owed him $600. I have much larger and more detailed tattoos from popular shops that took a chunk of my day to complete and costed a fraction of the price. $150-200 each would have been a reasonable price and I would have tipped 20% but instead we were both rather speechless and just payed and left feeling scammed. read more

Terrible place to get a tattoo. He literally held me down in the chair & would not let me get back up. I told him not to use black and he used black. I am so unhappy and scarred. I have a place called Removery that is helping me free of charge to get this horrible tattoo off my face. This man is soon to be charged in the court of law. I spoke to Jake about about specific tattoos that I wanted and I wanted something small. He asked, "Why? "You want something big so it looks good far away." Well, it was my first tattoo and I was nervous. The tattos that I originally chose, he didn't like nor did he think they were original. Maybe they weren't, but I liked them. Although, he said, he wanted me to get what I wanted, he wasn't "really" listening as an artist. The tattoo that I got is terrible. The ink ran - there are places that are white - places not colored. There was one area that I had NO idea what ta heck it was - I had to ask. He was following the design of my running shoe - it's not what I wanted and I'm not happy with my experience or the result. I had written a good review on FaceBook - Jake is a nice person - a really nice guy; but, being a tattoo artist isn't what he loves doing - he told me that. He didn't listen to me. I didn't want a BIG tattoo for my first tattoo. $300.00 later - just saying - in it for life. I wanted this experience to be a good one - I wanted to be excited to show it my friends. I haven't showed it to anyone but my son. I went back into the shop and spoke to him - his answer was is that it was his intention to leave the areas as they are. I don't believe it for one minute. He said, he'd fix those areas if I wanted, but I'd loose the contrast of the tattoo. I can't go back to get it fixed. Simply as that. read more

Hands down worst shop to get pierced. I've have had my nose pierced 3 times.. I went in for my 4th nose piercing. At this point.. I know the run around about how long it takes to get your nose pierced. Honestly worst experience I have had ever had with piercers and I've be pierced 14 times. Jake didn't seem to have the right equipment for the nose piercing, he put in a ring that was WAY too big (I understand for the healing process but like I said I have gotten pierced before and know the size hoop they usually put in) The hoop was probably sticking out by a inch (not kidding), it took him forever to even get the ball on, he squeezed it super tight so that jewelry metal was bent, and overpriced. $72.00 for a half ass piercing job. I wouldn't trust this shop with tattoos if they can't even do a piercing right. read more

Talked to Jake (tattoo artist) about my idea and he worked with me on designing the perfect tattoo. I wanted to fit a piece on a awkward part of my forearm and had concerns, but my new tattoo is perfect. I have many other tattoos and have been to many different parlors in Virginia, Philadelphia, North Carolina, Washington DC, and Portland. NH Custom Tattoo is my favorite spot. Jake works quickly, is down to earth, nice, but most importantly he has real talent. I had a tattoo covering a quarter of my forearm and needed to fill in some empty space. I do not recommend NH custom tattoo. This was my experience, and I want to start off by saying I have reached out to jake and have been without a response for over 48 hours which has led me to leaving this review. I am upset, and very frustrated. I found jakes shop on google, and came in to talk about the tattoo I wanted. During this time I found him abrasive, as he told me that he was concerned about giving me a "bad tattoo" due to the sizing I wanted. Should have been my first red flag. As I was very excited, I decided to move forward anyway and get the tattoo. I started off by letting jake know I was on a budget, and he assured me that he could work with it. From there, he had me send him multiple photos of what I was looking for. As we started the tattoo I found him to be extremely Heavy handed, but he tried to write it off as me being in a calorie deficit (which I normally am due to diet). As the tattoo went on, I was continuously in a lot of pain, but thought it might be due to where I was getting the tattoo. About half way through he offered me Advil for the swelling, which I found weird, but said ok because I was feeling a lot of pain and hoped it would help. During the tattoo I noticed jake was continually wringing out his paper towels filled with ink, blood, and water back into the cap he was filling his tattoo needles with, and then using the same ink to put back into my skin. I had never seen this done before, but hoped he was a professional who knew what he was doing as he claimed. What he gave me was Advil PM. Though Advil pm is not a strong sedative, that is REALLY a weird thing to do when you are alone in a shop with a woman. Knowing it was not a regular Advil, I pocketed it and waited until I left the shop to see what exactly he had given me. Once the tattoo was finished, i was pretty happy with the result. To the untrained eye, and from photos taken at a distance, the tattoo looked fine. I thanked him, and he began to encourage that I add in shading and color, to which I responded that I was concerned about my budget. At this point he informed me that the bill was at $320 for under 2 hours of work. I was absolutely shocked, denied any further work, and told him I needed to leave. I paid him, as I truly didn't feel like I could do anything else. In the moment, I tried to act kindly, thanked him for his work and left. Once home, I realized that what happened in this shop was unprofessional, not normal, and boarders on behavior that is dangerous. I have messaged jake trying to rectify the situation, and I have had two tattoo artists look at the work. He has not responded, and discontinued responding the moment I told him I wanted to continue to text to have a record of the conversation. The line work is horrible. I have multiple blow outs and ink bleeds from his inconsistency in pressure. The way my skin is chewed up is unbelievable. I have never received such a horrible tattoo. Then came the healing. I am currently 3 days into healing and thank god this tattoo has not gotten infected. The second day, my leg was so swollen and red that I was genuinely thinking about seeing a doctor for preventive antibiotics. I used manuka honey to leach out any infection for its antibacterial properties. Once I applied it, the tattoo BURNED horribly, and I watched as my tattoo began to weep a clear liquid (not sure what it was. Probably pus), blood, and excess ink. I have never been so worried. This tattoo will most likely not heal well, which is what I have been told by two other tattoo artists. I will most likely wind up needing a cover up for this tattoo. I genuinely DO NOT like to do this to other businesses, I do not like to blast them on Facebook, but the complete lack of communication, respect, handing me a medication that was not what was offered, the consistency of the work, and the over all experience has left me feeling like I have no choice. I would recommend finding another shop. Best of luck jake. read more

I gave him 2 stars instead of 1 because he's a nice guy, but I am truly unhappy with the work I got, and didn't even go back for a touch-up because I didn't want it ruined any more. I think there's something to be said about tattooing the traditional way, with stencils. There are some white spots that never got any color, there's some terrible shading that looks like a line of hair down my arm and believe it or not, the other picture is birds. read more

Originally I called to talk about a tattoo I wanted done (A katana with fire around it and looking like it was stabbing into a snowflake between my tits. Its from an anime, demon slayer. Wanted like a little centerpiece.) and I asked if there was a female artist that could do it. He said that there was and can be done. But when I went in it was just him, which I should've left there seeing that as a first red flag. But decided to give it a chance. He was rather nice and sweet. However, he didn't want to do the design I wanted and "tweaked" it a little "to not be distorted". I wanted the illusion, however not something flat. Then on top of that, I wanted the design to be smaller since I am a rather small person. While he did the tattoo it felt like he was even tattooing my collarbone. He stated that he wasn't, which afterward when it was done the tattoo lay right under my collar bone but still touching it. The tattoo itself was backwards, looked extremely rushed, the lining was horrible, and the fire wasn't even fire. It just looks like a glob of red. The handle of the katana was an eggshell white but for some reason, he colored it red as well. The kanji isn't even kanji! It's random lines at this point. The hilt of the sword was SUPPOSED to be a flame. I can't even describe what it looks like. It's so bad, the entire piece is horrendous. I also wanted it all in color to match my other tattoos, didn't really want any black. Most of it is in black...Then to add to that, the tattoo is so big it goes from my collarbone all the way to my belly button. Not what I wanted. He even added random "glowing" pieces which honestly made the piece worse. It looked nothing like the pictures I gave him. I have decent-sized clouds going up my arm and down my side and that was cheaper than this piece. I was told by a different tattoo artist that he should've denied me or worked something else out since there was no fat where he tattooed causing an instant issue, and saying I would get a terrible infection the very next day. The next morning It hurt so badly and was bubbling and pussing out the ink. It was so gross and ended up having to go to the hospital. Which I found out the ink and the needle he used got the tattoo infected, and was put on medication for it. I texted Jake about it, and he said he could "fix" it. I then asked how he could, and he said by finishing it. Which I'm 100% positive it was finished. I stated the issues, and there is no way of fixing this! I asked for even half a refund so I could get it removed since it was terrible and caused me major health issues. He then proceeded not to answer and left me on delivered. At this point, I think he blocked me. I am so upset and want this off my body right after getting it done! I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend unless you're looking for something terrible. Funny enough, my tattoo artist knew his name because he had to cover up Jake's work multiple times. And any other tattoo artist who has heard of Nh custom tattoos has no good stories from it. Before he starts he makes absolutely sure you are happy with the plan and then he makes it come to life. Avoid this shop at all costs. Two confirmed tattoo infections. Attempted to get my scarred up work covered up today & Jake did so much damage digging in and buttering the tat, that the ink wouldn't stick. A close friend ended up on antibiotics within a week of visiting this shop. Look at the work, read the consistent reviews, I did not. While being in the shop he had a few people come in complaining about his work. Flat dull watered down jobs and rough sloppy jobs. Please don't visit this shop. Jake you are trash. I came in wanting a small forearm tattoo and wound up getting a huge bird that looked nothing like the reference I gave him with lines so shakey and inconsistent I don't know how he can call himself an "award winning" tattoo artist. In his tattoos and the way he handles his business you can tell he doesn't care about anything but getting the money at the end of it. For my first tattoo he made me sit through 6 and a half hours and got mad at me when my arm was shaking when I was really trying to control it and the majority of the time I was. He barley talked the whole 7 and a half hours I was in there and had 3 TVs going with videos of people getting tattooed which isn't entirely that comfortable but that was the least bad thing to complain about. He left me with an unfinished tattoo that is anatomically incorrect in the bird, the crutches, and the flowers. It looks like a child drew and tattooed on my arm, the first month I had it I was depressed about ruining my arm because it's so big. If you care about how you're gonna look for the rest of you're life I would never see Jake, he could care less about what he's putting on your skin and how good he does it as long as he can get his hands on your money at the end of the day. He's lazy and sloppy with his tattooing, maybe he's just been on a rough patch but from any recent picture that I've seen and even on my own arm I can tell this guy either doesn't know or doesn't care what he's doing. He should be charging $50 an hour for his work not $200, NH Custom is a scam I wish i never went there, you shouldn't either. read more

Did my research and it led me to him. When I went in, I knew what I wanted and how I wanted it to look, but he pretty much talked me out of it. When we finally came to an agreement, he haphazardly created a stencil and began working. At first look it was terrible, but I thought he was going to fix it. The words were sized differently and spaced improperly and the lettering was inconsistent in look. I paid him $200 in cash and left. After healing, I couldn't get over how awful it looked and contacted him to request a refund. He essentially refused and tried to offer a store credit, but why would I want someone who screwed up the first time to work on me again? No thanks and never going here again. read more

I sent Jake 2 reference pictures of smaller tattoos and he said no problem. As I got to the shop he drew completely different tattoos and refused to put them where I wanted. I said no multiple times and he insisted. I ended up with a bird on top of a playboy bunny? Doesn't make sense and honestly I'm embarrassed of it. He was completely unprofessional, he treated his female assistant like absolute shit and during the tattoo was ripping my arm around and yelling at me to stop moving. He was digging way to deep and all my tattoos are ugly shaky and scared to fuck. There's a random line on me for some reason. He tried to tell me this was a $900 tattoo but he can "bump it down to $750" I have multiple other tattoos all done by the same man and I've never paid that much for actual professionals. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. He really drilled into my arm and twisted my arm to get to the spot he wanted. When my arm was swollen 4 times the size and bruised probably some from the twisting I mentioned, I called concerned, he ridiculed and belittled me. Not to mention he was talking about George Floyd and Covid, saying some very controversial, opinionated, borderline racist shit. I told him what I wanted for a half sleeve and suggested I do the tattoo buffet. Never once did he mention multiple sessions, I had this quoted out at another shop at 1,200 dollar for the whole half sleeve, I paid him that much for not even half of my half sleeve. When you run your hand over my arm, it's lumpy and bumpy from where he went to deep, honestly I'm surprised I didn't get a serious infection with how hard and deep he was drilling into me. Also he was clearly tweaked out on something, Manchester's finest here folks; when I went to leave he had to cut me off to get the bathroom to "dump his ink water", he ran in and right back out clutching something in hand, also passed the sink where he was drinking water from all day to cut me off from the bathroom? Clearly hiding something. His girlfriend kept disappearing and reappearing out of no where. And last but not least he didn't bring his dog out once in the 8 hours I was there, my friend had to when he came up to her whining to be let out. I wouldn't suggest this place to my worst enemy and the worst part is I drove 2 hours to this place thinking it was something it was not; please write more reviews people!! read more

I am so beyond mad with the tattoo I have received from this artist. It has cost me several hundred dollars to remove. It's really so crucial that you shop around before you get a tattoo. Just because someone has equipment and a license does not make them an artist. Jake Custom Tattoo loves to go on and on about how good he is and to come to him over other people so you get it done right... but I implore you to simply look at the pictures of his past work and compare them to other shops in the area. Something I should have done. These tattoos do not even qualify to earn the term "art". Please, again, just compare the work, the comparisons will speak for themselves. Help put an end to the toxicity in the tattoo industry that allows just anyone to pick up the tools and tattoo. Tattoos are forever, and bad tattoos like this are very expensive to remove or cover. My brothers and I give this place 5 stars! These were our first tattoos ever & we couldn't have chosen a better place. We all got a family tattoo on a week night & he stayed open late until all 4 of us were done and happy with our tattoos! Very professional & clean! Another point that was important to us was that my brothers could be in the same room while I was getting tattooed! We even had the choice to pick any music we wanted while we were tattooed.
