Don't get scared of their name! If you have visions of some flaming food torching you, this isn't it. It is a great taste of Indian food in an approachable restaurant. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala. It was a very smooth, tasty and exotic curry without a punishing heat for my gringo taste buds. It came with a very well cooked long grain rice that absorbed the fluid and complemented it well. Onions, carrots and chicken all cooked to perfection were in the reddish/orange sauce. I also ordered the garlic naan which was a very powerful garlic taste with a well cooked flat bread. If you aren't a huge fan of garlic, make sure you have some after dinner mints or at least a tooth brush handy. I splurged and ordered the mango lassi to wash it down. One of the worst dining experiences in our lives! We were ingnored by the wait staff as we continually witnessed many Indian diners coming in after us and being served first. We ordered garlic naan and it was never served to us because they said they ran out. We saw why they ran out of naan, they kept serving platter after platter to the Indian diners that all ordered way after we did. We witnessed first hand how we were clearly discriminated against by not being Indian customers. We will never return there again for Indian food and will now travel to Dallas where we can at least be respected as non-Indian customers. We stopped in for a late lunch on a Sunday. It's right off the interstate, you just have to zig zag down a couple of streets to find it if you are going the wrong way. We ordered tons of food and everything was amazing! Surprisingly my favorite was the eggplant dish and of course the garlic naan. We also had a lamb dish, chicken tikka masala and a fish dish. Hands down, this is one of the top five restaurants in Abilene. The food is phenomenal. They closed the restaurant downtown and moved north to I-20 across the freeway from the Holiday Inn. If you like really spicy food, kick it off with the chicken 555 as an appetizer. It's served with cucumber slices which provides a good balance of a cool cucumber to balance the heat of the chicken. I can't help myself but order the outstanding chicken saag every time I've been. Thinking about the chicken saag makes my mouth water. Add some chili naan to scoop it up with their basmati rice....whoa. You can't make this at home people. Don't even try it. The samosa I just ate was probably one of the best I've ever had. Definitely worth another visit just for that alone. The entree was deliciously flavorful and not spicy at all ..... I tend to like it on the spicy side so for some, you might feel a little kick. I will say even though the flavor was great, I could not get past the grit so more than half of the entree went in the trash. The grit was from either sand in the veggies or, more than likely, undercooked or underground spices since it was EVERY bite. DELICIOUS! I'm from Houston, and there is plenty Indian restaurants there and this is the BEST I have ever been to. The chicken biryani was so delicious, I almost ate the entire thing by myself. This was right across the highway from our hotel and perfect because we don't like fast food chains. We were just passing through on the way to California so this was a nice little gem. When they mean spicy, SPICY IT IS. My wife and I had dinner at this restaurant, and she is the one that loves spicy foods. But even this was too much for her. She only was able to eat a few bites of her food before she finally gave up. I, on the other hand, asked for something mild, and I was told that the chef would make sure that my dinner would be. However, I gagged on my first bite. When I complained, they did not charge me for my meal or drink. But they refused to refund any portion of my wife's meal, even when she ended up with an upset stomach. For all of you hotheads out there, this is probably a wonderful place for you, and I offer them complements for it. However, for those of you who are challenged by spiciness, I would suggest that you ask for a sample before ordering. Otherwise, you may be overheatedly disappointed. By the way, the owner is running for Mayor of Abilene. And he greeted us at our car before we even walked into the restaurant. But after we told him that we were from Southern California, we were ignored--- even when I asked for a partial refund for my wife's dinner. All these recent reviews boil down to taste. Great food. Some was super spicy which was great and the drinks are delicious! The only complaint I have is the poor waitress was trying to waitress, answer phones, take money! It's too much for one person and then to find out by a friend she does not get her tips!!! There were three families that are with us that night and we each left her a good tip so very sad that she didn't get that! I think the owners need to reevaluate that situation and let the waitress and buss people get a share of the hard work they are doing. This place was delicious! The restaurant itself was clean, homey and looked well put together. This is a family owned establishment, the family is very nice and friendly. We ordered the butter chicken, spicy Indian chicken and the garlic naan. I just couldn't resist the temptation .. we came back here for dinner and I absolutely cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this place . So let's begin . First off -smells in the restaurant from the min you walk hit you right off and it is the most wonderful smell of spices you will ever smell . It gives you that warm feeling . That inviting feeling that want you knowing more . The staff at this location are so humble and genuine nice . They give you that welcome home feeling as if your a relative and coming over for a visit. The food was alright. Service was very slow-my boyfriend finished his drink and set in plain view. After 10-15 minutes of waiting for our waiter to come back, he had to ask them for a refill. Not too big a deal, it was when we were leaving that I wish we had never come-I could see back into the kitchen. The curries and sauces etc were sitting on a table in the center of the kitchen in open STORAGE BINS, like the ones you store Christmas decorations in.
