This store is a gem in Old San Juan. i love that it is so clean and orderly and they make it easy to sample before you buy. I purchased one small bottle of the Sunsational Garlic, Savoury Ginger and Hot Sauce. Although I sampled all of them, I wasn't sure exactly which foods I would pair them with. Fast forward one.month, the garlic is 1/2 way finished and the ginger is close behind. I wish I purchased larger bottles! I'm sooooooo glad that I can order more online. I haven't tried the hot sauce only because I have 4 types of hot sauce currently opened and in use. Suggestion: I currently mix the garlic with the ginger and matouks hot pepper sauce. Yummy. Once Matouks is empty AND I order more garlic and ginger, im going to mix all three. I will then have three amazing sauces from the two caribbees !!

Beautifully decorated store, super friendly staff. Offer samples and they have the best coquito! Too bad they only have a small size bottle!

Some of the best hot sauce in the world. Fuego and Green Heat are my favorites, and their pepper jelly is fantastic.

Fast forward and we had a Welcome Reception for our destination wedding at Juana La Loca. Not only did George and his team exceed all of OUR expectations, several groups of our guests were so impressed by the food/drinks that they went back to the restaurant while in PR. I could go on and on about the food, the service, and the beauty of the restaurants but sometimes it's the little things that make a huge difference. For example, when I couldn't get a sign for the party made and shipped in time--George made it happen. Or when our guests wanted to turn the reception into karaoke--George/his team made it happen. I'm pretty sure George even greeted each of our guests himself. All in all, George and the Juana La Loca team exceeded all of our expectations!

AMBIANCE You're in the city so it's an eventful area. There's street parking and nearby lots but your best to carpool or rideshare. As for the vibes, I'm told in the daytime it's a local marketplace that's filled with vendors and other fresh produce booths. It's pretty chill with a nice neighborhood feel. As for the evening, this is where to turn up and get a pulse of Puerto Rico parties. EXPERIENCE Go to your bar, pick your vibe from community, club excessive, lounge feel, live music or etc. Drink choices rangeThey have it here! Plenty of photo op spots and good energy. I was here peak of the #DTMF era so it was magical to see people come together with a speaker and a cowbell. A local put into perspective how this was way better than paying for an expensive hotel party. It was truly a 1 of 1 experience. TL;DR OVERALL 5 Stars. It doesn't get any better. There's a reason why this space is dropped in lyrics and people's recommendations because this is the heart of the people. So don't be shy! Grab a drink, walk around, catch a dance, and be safe! TIPS: * Don't just settle for one spot. Be sure to explore around to experience the entire Santurce experience!

Review #1,047 Posted on 4.26.26…read more We came to La Placita on Thursday the 23rd, when in town to celebrate my buddies 50th birthday. I guess this was purposefully done as I've heard it's nuts here on Fridays & Saturdays. When you get dropped off at the main road when you walk down it takes you to all the action in a few hundred feet. This place was still packed, but it was popping, the place to be at night I'd guess. They've got all JJ da of restaurants, bars, & clubs here. Tons of music, & a good time.

I had the protein lover bagel, but it was a little oily for me. But I mean, that's usually normal with bacon and all the other meats in there. I asked for hot sauce, and they gave a Puerto Rican brand hot sauce! Other restaurants will always offer me tobasco or siracha, which is fine. We caught sight of this scene on Monday and couldn't get that off our minds all week. Before leaving the island we made sure to drop in for a fresh coconut...only to learn this cafe without a menu makes food and beverage to suit your needs. We had plans to get dinner after our coconuts but once we learned what this spot was all about we determined there was no longer a need to go anywhere else. Jonas Serrano is the beautiful mind behind Phyt NYC and has a gym in the same building. He also happens to sometimes be at the cafe ensuring guests with good vibes only are welcomed in. We had the entire space to ourselves on our last night on the island. It couldn't have been more perfect. The food was so good we ordered an extra plate to go for the plane ride the next day. BEST. IDEA. EVER. Thanks to Jonas I had a healthy, delicious meal to keep me satiated on my long haul home. And our last evening in Condado was perfect! After a stressful and busy workweek this was the ideal place to unwind. We had a lovely perch above the busy street below and enjoyed giving Junior (the adorable resident pup) lots of love. If you are a low-key visitor looking for a relaxing space and delicious meal look no further. Don't expect to be served if you are unruly or just looking for your next drink. This is not the place for all that. Have a seat, meet Junior, enjoy the breeze, and if you're lucky, learn a thing or two from Jonas!

When I came to San Juan last in 2014 I swore that I would return and get some more mofongo here…read more. and I did! I may not be here all the time (though I'd love to be), but when I come.. I need to go here. If it seems that I base some of my travel (*most of my travel) around food, well..that may be true..! Conveniently located in Viejo (Old San Juan) you can find this little kiosk at the plaza de colon, the central square in the old part of town with the statue of the guy on a tall post. Can't miss it - truly. The kiosk has a couple of quick, delicious (to go) options available .. hence the punny name. Thirsty? Get some fresh, tangy lemonade. Or better yet.. buy a fresh young coconut.. they will drill a hole in it for you and give you a straw. So good! Hungry? Well.. listen up. Get an alcapurria or two, these things are so good you'll probably want another. They are essentially fried oblong things filled with meat, cheese and surrounded by a mixture of plantain and yucca. Crispy but also soft on the outside with a savory meat filling.. quite addicting! Then, mofongo wise they have several options which is kindof neat if you want to change it up. To start you pick your base, either regular mashed plantain, sweet mashed plantain, mashed yucca, or trifongo; ra combination of all three. Then, you pick your topping.. I recommend the beef paired with regular green plantain. The veggie is quite good as well, it has several different kinds of marinated beans in the mix.

A picture is worth a thousand words and i gotta tell you - this place is worth checking out.read more

Review #1,046 Posted on 4.26.26…read more We came here on Thursday the 23rd while in San Juan area for my buddies 50th birthday. This spot we had seen on social media a ton for being famous for their Mallorca sandwich, a special type bread, we got the one with bacon & American cheese. Man, I made the mistake of doing the bacon instead of ham, overthought that deal. I tried my buddies with ham n cheese and I think that was way to go. I loved how this spot had that super old school feel of like a diner. You can sit at one of the table tops, or you can do the countertop too, which has tons of seats, we all were able to sit there. I'd 100% recommend this spot, but get the ham n cheese mallorca sandwich, don't overthink it.

After a few minutes, people started trickling down and soon the place was close to being full. I liked the mallorca with ham, bacon, cheese! It was delicious. They looked small but they were filling. The pastries displayed at the window were inviting. If you're dining in, you have to tell your server that you're getting some pastries that are on display then you ask the person at the counter who also serves as the cashier to get them for you. The guava pastry was good. The vanilla bread with strawberry and pineapple/lemon was okay. They looked better than they tasted in my opinion. Payment for everything would be at the cashier after dining. If you're in San Juan, this is a place to try!

The shop is a few minutes detour from the expressway, but the easy parking situation, comfortable ambience and friendly staff, make it a nice pit stop. Be prepared to spend some cash for these cheeses, but I love supporting a local, agricultural business in PR.
