i've been here a few times late night to go out and get drinks and stuff. The DJ is usually good. The drinks are good but finally went out to get the food here I got a chicken quesadilla and came with the rice and beans. Spicy Cantina fit the bill with a diverse menu, outdoor seating on the boardwalk, and being seated immediately. The service was great despite the fact that there were lots of people. The food was just ok, but we didn't expect much, so no disappointment. After dinner, we went inside to the bar and there was a great musician playing. There was a fun and hip vibe inside. Great little tex Mex place on the boardwalk. The food was decent, and not expensive. Service was a little slow but it was a very busy night. Staff were great and worked their best to get things done. The only downside is that it was over 100 outside and they had the doors to the patios open so my margaritas started melting immediately at the bar. We've been here twice and it's a delicious, fun experience. I recommend requesting a table on the balcony overlooking the boardwalk and ocean. It's cozy and beautiful. Service was attentive both times. Food good and portions plentiful. The cocktails were nice also, especially this cucumber jalapeno I just had. It was strooong. Loved it! My friends and I tried Spicy's Mexican for lunch - they have the Mexican restaurant upstairs and the boardwalk style food downstairs. The food was a lot better than we expected for a popular tourist spot on the boardwalk and the drinks were also pretty good taste wise but they weren't strong - we all got margarita flights. Our waitress was a little hard to track down sometimes but that could be because it was very busy and we were one of the corner tables on the balcony. If I could give zero stars, I would. My family and I visited Spicy's Cantina on August 6th and sat upstairs at the bar. Our total was $58.22 before tip, and we chose to split the bill between my debit card and my partner's credit card. After running the cards, the bartender returned saying their system was down and they could only accept cash -- something we were never told before ordering. We didn't have cash on us, but she said we could return later and even wrote down our card info "just in case." When we came back around 8 PM, the system was working again. My partner paid the entire bill in full on his credit card, no problem. But three days later, on August 9th, I checked my account and saw that Spicy's Cantina charged me seven times -- one charge for $58.22 and six charges for $29.11, totaling $234 for a meal that had already been paid for. I called immediately and was told it was a "POS system issue" and that the charges would "eventually clear." No one ever called me back. I had to follow up multiple times, and it took 14 days for those charges to finally fall off. For two weeks, that $234 was tied up, leaving me without access to my own money. Then, unbelievably, on October 26th, the same exact thing happened again -- seven new charges in the same amounts. Another $234 pending on my account. Now I'm out nearly $466 for a single meal that was paid in full months ago. I've tried calling Spicy's repeatedly, but the line just loops into endless hold music. No one answers, no one calls back, and there has been zero accountability or apology. My account even overdrafted because of these duplicate charges, and the restaurant has done nothing to help. What was supposed to be a nice meal with my family ended up compromising my bank account. I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism or lack of care from a business. This entire experience has been a nightmare. I will never dine here again, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place unless you want to deal with unauthorized charges, zero communication, and complete disregard for customer service. read more

A fun spot on the beach. This place gets packed with good reason, drinks are good, the fun is definitely there with boardwalk seating as well as decks above. The food was ok, we had jumbo cocktail shrimp, coconut shrimp, raw clams, and chili tai chicken wings. They were all good but served without hot sauce, by the time I got the attention of the waitress the clams were gone! Lol, we fully enjoyed our time there. At night this place turns hot, with dancing as a big young crowd comes out. The bartenders are fantastic and the people are friendly. I have been going here for years and always have a great time. The "chicken" quesadilla had canned chicken in it, ugh! The South West egg rolls were just ok, nothing great, greasy and all I could see were beans and corn in them. Couldn't tell what the other item was that was in it. The dipping sauce for the rolls was good. This time the salsa tasted like a tin can. My Sister said the frozen drink "Miami Vice" was not good. I am visiting New Jersey and wanted Mexican food which here I was pleased with! Everything was fresh and yummy. The margaritas were a little messy but pretty good for the price. But what I wanted to point out was our server Lisa, she was absolutely amazing, so kind and attentive and made sure we had everything and enjoyed our experience. Hard to come across good servers nowadays and she really stood out to me especially coming from working at restaurants! They added their own gratuity to the bill of 18% on any bill over 100 dollars. I don't think that it's fair and I seen no posting of this. I believe I should tip the waiter based on service provided you don't get to chose. The total bill was $170.00 crazy this included only one $10.00 drink 2. It was a birthday celebration and although they sang happy birthday and made it special they charged $8.00 for a piece of tres leches cake to the birthday girl smh...that was a huge bummer. I've dined at Spicy Cantina several times as a child/teen, but this was my first visit as an adult. I came here with a friend during a holiday weekend getaway. We didn't have to wait, although a long line formed while we dined. Our waitress was very friendly. We split the tater tots, chicken quesadillas and southwestern egg rolls. The portions were large, definitely enough to split a few appetizers as a dinner. I still found the prices to be a bit high, but this is standard for Seaside Heights. Olivia was our server and I spoke to Sherri, the manager who was on top of everything and a sweetheart. ;) The view is amazing, smell of the salt air, as you can people watch and the rides running during the peak of summer.
