I think there were at least three carvery meal sizes to choose from. I opted for the large at about a tenner (£10) and I was able to choose from four different hot meats. The hot meat choices were turkey, gammon, pork and beef. I could have added £1.99 or so to get two pigs in blankets (bacon wrapped pork sausages) but I declined. I got two Yorkshire puddings with the meats and set off to choose my cooked vegetables from one heck of a choice; roast, mashed & garlic potatoes, stuffing, carrot & swede, roast parsnips, cauliflower cheese, Brussels sprouts (a real favourite of mine) lots more veg choices, Colman's English mustard (5 stars alone) a rich gravy, an onion gravy and I'm sure I left something out too. It would be easier to say what's not there and I can only think of pepper sauce. I'd been warned off ordering the mega carvery, which apparently includes a giant, plate - sized Yorkshire pudding that the rest of the meal is put into. As if it couldn't get any better they had real ale. So I had a pint of Abbot (I think) ale; they also had Old Specked Hen (they could call it Golden Years speckled hen). The prices are reasonable, the seats comfy and mega friendly staff, oh and there's lots of parking and a play area for kids. Well worth supporting.

I prefer the Cafe to the standard machines, as they always is a larger variety of different, exotic tea bags, coffee syrups and it is overall a nicer, more pleasant experience. The staff here seemed polite, as with any Waitrose stores and didn't mind listing the tea bags for me, in the end I settled for a Twyning's tea "Nutty Chocolate", which takes about 3-5 minutes to brew. My server didn't really know how to serve it, for example how long to brew or whether it was milk, but she still was helpful and found out for me, and presented it nice in a teapot. The tea was quite nice, especially when I left it to brew, and with a dash of milk, I liked the Nutty Chocolate flavour, although I still didn't prefer it to the "Bollywood Chai" tea of the same brand I had at the Waitrose Cafe previously in their Sheffield branch. This is quite a nice cafe, and has a modern feel to it, it is often good hours, which is near enough in line with the store, I was visiting when they were closing so it was quite quiet for me, as expected, but they don't need to remain open all day as that would be a waste of time and money, as customers just won't go in at a certain time. I also got a Waitrose yogurt for £1, which was available in store for 80p, a 20p price rise or 25% isn't too much, especially to be able to enjoy your yogurt in a cafe, my yogurt was okay, and it was good quality. I chosen Honey and ginger (or something like that), and although it wasn't fantastic, it wasn't bad. My tea, was above average but still could have been a nicer flavor, and the staff already knowing what to do would have been better, and maybe asking if everything was okay, with me being the only ones in the cafe, sat right next to the counter would have been good too, but still I can't complain about a place that gives you a free hot drink every day, with a great selection, good staff and a nice cafe its-self to warrant anything lower than a solid 3 star rating.

The manager offered to make fresh coffees and kindly explained about the quality of their coffee, supplied by Dark Woods Coffee and suggested this coffee ain't Costa - I do agree. My new coffee tasted identical to the original but my wife thought hers less 'sour'. Dark Woods provide the coffee and hand roast their beans on a 1950's Probat drum roaster. They are top notch on the environmental and social impact and certified B Corp - 5 green stars here. When tasting think terroir, varietals and process. I had the chestnut & wild mushrooms with garlic & herbs on organic sourdough supplied by an artisan maker. This dish was well balanced, delicious and a decent portion. My wife had the salmon bagel with cream cheese and scallions. She declared it delicious too (salmon delicately smoked by the Manchester Smoke House and bagel baked perfectly by the Bread Factory, Manchester). The sparkling water came well chilled and in a recyclable bottle. We were seated out back at a wobbly table that only required me putting my shoe on the base, the service was attentive, we were suitably distanced from other diners and they genuinely cared that we thought the milk in coffees was off. The place was spic & span clean and with their focus and transparency on quality organic food, preserving the environment (remember folks the earth is our only home) and relying on artisans for produce it's 5 green stars for them too. Really worth supporting.

I know from many trips to England, that the meat there normally isn't very good. This description of the steak sandwich made my mouth water, so I decided to give it a try. I highly recommend the tender cow!!!

Divine. Sublime. Delicious. I could conjure up a couple of hundred adjectives to describe this…read moreFrench restaurant but none would do it justice. Mention French cuisine, and images of a piece of mangetout in a dot of "jus" on a plate spring to mind. This is SO not the case at La Boheme, but before I go into details about the food, let me describe the whole experience. This restaurant is owned by Olivier and Adele Troalen who have created an absolute treasure. Firstly and most importantly, you HAVE to book here. No matter what night of the week or what time you go, I will say it again;" YOU HAVE TO BOOK". This is everybody's favourite place and can be booked up a couple weeks on advance so if Valentines Day is approaching, fellas I would book before Christmas! Secondly, as you walk in, you are seated in the pleasant bar area, and sometimes given complimentary canapes as you peruse the menu. Good idea this as it cuts down the time you sit at your table, deliberating over the Steak or the Sea bass. Decor is muted greys and jade greens and is the epitome of class. Once seated, food is served quickly by lovely staff. The Maitre 'D is almost a caricature, small, round and a bundle of energy he is totally lovely and makes every customer feel special. Now for the food! I always take advantage of "Le Menu Fixe" which is 3 courses for £22.50 and £8.95 for children under 10 years old. For this miniscule sum, you have a choice from 10 different starters and 12 different mains. I must recommend the scallops for starter, they are the best I have ever tasted, and the fillet of beef and the Gressingham duck is too die for. Everything is served with beautifully cooked seasonal veg in light and lovely sauces. When the desserts arrive they are like pieces of art work on the plates and I get all greedy and have the "Assiette Gourmande" which is 5 perfect puddings on a plate. Seriously, who can resist a mini apple crumble next to a mini creme brulee? When you leave La Boheme you are so full you think you won't eat for a week. This is incredible food for incredible value and I can't say a bad word about it.

The satay sauce was the highlight. I also tried a little of the cauliflower and chicken coconut soup, which was amazingly light but perhaps a bit soapy...? For main I had the masaman. Lots of tender beef, amazingly rich and fragrant nutty, sweet sauce and boiled rice. Incredible. I couldn't finish it as it got a bit sickly but boy, it was good. And meant I didn't need pudding. The Pad Thai was amazingly fresh with plenty of flavour, but didn't live up to (my impossibly high) expectations. Even on weeknights it seems to get quite busy so best to book.

I didn't get to try the food or even see the menu but there's an impressive looking kitchen so hope to return for that at some point (actually have now found menu online and as well as a grill they have a big sushi menu!!) Drinks wise, they had Antica Formula vermouth! The bartender had NO IDEA what it was or how to serve it but we quickly got the ice/lemon/appropriate glass sorted and although it might seem expensive at £4.50 for 50ml it's a good alternative to wine for an aperitif. Prosecco was £22 a bottle which wasn't bad either. I thought the ale selection was a little limited although and I couldn't work out what the microbrewery aspect was (curiously they only seem to have a wine menu even though they have an extensive amount of fancy sprits which you can't see properly).
