It's run by a husband-and-wife team who clearly like to ensure their guests are all well taken care of during their meal, we felt very welcome and the service was excellent. As we were a large group we decided it was easiest to order several 'Meat Meze' platters to share which turned into one of the most delicious banquets I've ever had. Oodles of houmous, tzatziki, warmed pitta breads, succulent pieces of pork, chicken and lamb, some giant looking baked bean things which were totally moreish, I tried everything and disliked nothing. It was hands down one of the top five meals I had in 2013. Dimitri came out from the kitchen to chat to us after our meal and told us they source fresh local ingredients for their dishes and you could certainly tell this was the case from the tastiness of what we'd ordered. If you're ever in Northenden, dining at Alexandros is a must. Tip: Expect to pay £16-19.50 for a Meat Meze and £15-18.50 for Vegetarian Meze (the portions are very generous!).

The chef who owns the biz is Greek and his wife is at the front of house, she's very friendly and polite and can't do enough to help with menu choices etc.. Chef also pops out to have a chat which is just lovely. We went for one of the Mezes in the end and had to take a doggy bag because our eyes are bigger than our stomachs! When we went a carafe of white wine imported from Greece was very reasonable price I think around £3.50/£4.00, it might have gone up now, who knows. All I know is that I cannot wait to go back for more!

OMG, OMG, OMG - Chennai Dosa just rocks in its new location!…read more Previously in the rather dodgy Stretford area of Manchester, it was always a love/hate relationship of having to go here to get great South Indian food but potentially getting shot walking across the car park at night... But now in Northenden it's much easier and it's still the same amazing food. Really rustic, really cheap, really authentic - their Dosa, Idli and a variety of other pancake style dishes are to die for. £28 for 4 peoples food and a beer - great stuff, basically just go here, now!!

Of all the restaurants and takeaways we walked passed on the way, theirs had the most people in, which was promising. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a corner table, next to a large group who were there celebrating a birthday by the looks of it. We needed some help with figuring out the menu, as there were no descriptions of the dishes - our server talked us through practically every dish! The dosas (savoury pancakes) are the house special, alongside oothappam breads, rice and tiffin dishes or simple curries. We decided to share starters between us and have our own mains. The food started to arrive after a bit of a wait - it's all served on compartmentalised metal trays which don't like to stay put on the wipe-clean table tops. I wanted to love it but it was all rather...beige and underwhelming. The Medhu Vadai was bland, even with the massive portion of yoghurty/mild curry sauce it was served with. I opted to try their chicken masala dosa filled with potato masala and served with chutneys and sambar which was alright, but really not the taste sensation I was hoping for. My friends did enjoy their curries though, with them both saying they were nice and spicy. This is my second ordering of dosas after trying them at Sanskruti and I don't think I'll bother with them again unfortunately.

The wait staff was very pleasant and friendly. We particular liked their leather aprons. They have a lovely outdoor seating area too. On this occasion (I suspect we will return) we ordered from their lunch special menu which is $14.50 for one option from the starters and one from the mains. However, you also have the option to order a la carte (separate menu). Food and drinks were nice. We will definitely come back as there were some things on the menu I would like to try, like the Rabbit Gnocchi and Artichoke & Truffle Ravioli

So often it's both, but with Albert's the decor complements some visits there, and others not so much. Is that as confusing as it looks to me right now? Let's clarify... Hands down, awesome food. Like, seriously. Full marks. We came here with parents on a Thursday night (the new Friday as all you cool cats know) and sat down to some delicious wine, a smattering of tomato bruschetta with a criminal amount of garlic (thank the lord I didn't have to speak to anyone on a professional level the next day) and some hearty yet classy dishes. The boys wanted steak, and steak they got. As my friend's dad always says, if the steak's cooked properly, you don't need a steak knife, and these melted away like butter. The seafood menu was like a pick n' mix of fruits de la mer, and this is what the female contingent of the party opted for. My friend's mum went for the fillet of seabass served with a choice of vegetables, and I asked about the fish stew and the Thai monkfish curry. The kind waitress recommended the stew and I was so glad she did. Mussels in their shells, chunks of potato, a tomato sauce and huge hunks of fish had me almost too full to the brim for pudding, where we all decided we'd fight over a single pannetone bread and butter pudding. Rich, fruity and dense, the podded vanilla custard was the perfect partner. After reading Bex T's review I must concur wholeheartedly - Albert's is sleek and chic. The uber-modern clean blue lines would indeed feel at odds with a cosy Sunday roast dinner, although I do hear their roasts are legendary. It shan't put me off, I'll be back to try it. I'll just be sure to don my Sunday best when I do!
