I went with 10 people last week on a work night out, and everyone really enjoyed their meals. The food is freshly cooked with lots of healthy ingredients and the presentation is lovely. Prices are approx £3-4 for a starter and approx £7-8 for a main meal, the portions are generous, but if you can fit in a dessert I recommend the Thai pancakes ;-)

For our mains I had the drunken noodles (guay tiew pad kimow) which was delicious, again with a perfect level of spice-to-flavor ratio and featuring a very generous portion of vegetables. My coworker had the red curry (gaeng phed) which was also very good, great flavor, very rich and creamy. All in all it was a great choice and a good price point. The restaurant itself was nice, comfortable and clean, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. I finished off with a sticky toffee pudding, as one must do when they're over in the U.K. from the US, and I will definitely return next time I'm in town! The interior does'nt disappoint either, it is the epitome of elegance with cream, blue and sea green walls, dark mahogany furniture and mood lighting. Staff wear traditional Thai garb which looks lovely and they just cannot do enough for you. On entering we were led to the small bar area where we had a 10 minute wait despite booking. Now for the food. It is TOO DIE FOR!! Great portions and it is not simply your classic Thai fare. The chicken satay starter was presented with an exquisite salad and peanut dip, then we moved onto the mains. I tucked into the scallops padnam prik prao and would recommend this dish to seafood enthusiasts anytime! It had a subtle chilli sauce and the portion size far exceeded the typically sad-looking three scallops on a plate. Hubby had a dish called weeping tiger which was basically sizzling steak in a spicy sauce; hotter than your usual Thai. I still crammed in the fresh fruit platter for dessert and Dee Thai do a really good coffee- not your usual Costa fare. I adored the food but this was an expensive treat and my main thought was "glad i'm not paying". It cost in excess of £70 for the two of us but I think what pushed the price up was the cost of the side orders. Stir fried veg was £7.50 and beansprouts were £5.50. I guess the prices are reflective of the affluent area it is situated in but I think the Early evening offer of £9.90 for 2 courses and rice would be better value. Weekend booking is essential as Dee Thai is a popular venue. It also opens for lunch weekdays from 12-2.30pm and on weekends from 2-5pm. Great for a splurge and not your usual Saturday night grub. My starter, Emerald Chicken was delicious but the main course, Tamarind King Prawn had a strong flavour of fish sauce in it which overpowered the usual sour/sweetness and spoiled it a little for me. Staff were attentive and friendly which was a definite plus. Wine list was good and we chose one we really enjoyed which was another positive (cant remember what it was though!) It has a feel of a pub but this is not a bad thing for an informal bite to eat. The drinks order you have to place at the bar and pay separately as it is 2 separate businesses. This is a strange thing but it doesn't detract from the quality of the food. Also drinks prices are reasonable. The food was served to the table by a lovely woman with a massive smile. The smell as the doors opened from the kitchen was amazing. The presentation was excellent. We hardly spoke whilst eating, it was that good. The penang curry was nice and spicy but full of flavour and the massaman was nice and mild filled with chicken and potatoes. For £10 this place simply cannot be beat on a Tuesday! Even at full prices it is definitely worth it. If you are in early enough you can even get a seat ready for the evening entertainment on a Friday and Saturday which is good if you're into that sort of thing. Service is faultless, as soon as you enter (no matter how busy they are) they acknowledge you. Takeaway or to eat in the restaurant. The food is very tasty with plenty of flavour and value for money. My favourite is Thai Green curry and I always ask for it mild (cant take hot food, red face ha ha) I recommend one of the Satay Chicken platters to start (the sharing ones are good with a large group) One of my favourite places to dine and you get sweets at the end when you pay :)
