When my friends and I arrived into Fort William, this restaurant was one of the few options that were opened late and had availability. So with our hungry stomachs and tired feet, we sat down at the table we were escorted to. The server that we had was very good at his job. While we had certain menu items that we initially came here to get, we were convinced into getting several more appetizers and mango lassi drinks. He was very convincing (and also our hungry stomachs couldn't refuse). And the moment you said "yes", he was on it. Very good salesman, which I can't really fault him on that. In the end, we ended up sharing a few appetizers amongst the 4 of us. APPETIZER 1)Papadum & 2) Pickle Tray The texture of the papadum were great - very crunchy. By itself, it doesn't really have a taste. On the other hand, the sauces on the pickle tray were all flavorful and excellent. I enjoyed all of them. The papadum & pickle tray pairs well together. It can be eaten & devoured in minutes that way. Very addictive. An unexpectedly great appetizer choice and my recommended items. 3)Cheese Naan As in all Indian restaurants, the naans are great. Can't really mess it up. Always warm & soft to eat. The additional of cheese was new for me, but great nonetheless. It's a pull and put in your mouth kind of treat. ENTREE: Chicken Biryani I personally ordered the Chicken Biryani. The portion of the dish is great! I came in super hungry and I still wasn't able to finish it all. The rice tasted great. But the chicken was kind of disappointing... it was good, but the texture was harder than I would have liked. It was not at all soft to bite into. Therefore, I mainly found myself mainly digging out for the rice. Overall, appetizers were great. Entree was just okay. Business was very money forward from my first impression. For example: when we agreed to get papadum, he didn't even ask how many we wanted. He just gave us 6 pieces, which you have to pay individually for. We really would have been satisfied with 4 pieces (one for the each of us). Thankfully, it tasted great and we ate everything. But honestly, it would have been nice to know beforehand. read more

The food was horrendous. Americans visiting the UK and one of our favorite things is the fabulous Indian food. Not here. Masala was sweet, not in a good way. Aloo Gobi was utterly tasteless. They asked if we wanted pappadum. Yes. Well they bring that and then a platter of sauces (not good) that were not asked for but on the bill. Dinner here. A somewhat overstimulating environment with lots of lights and colors. Lots of staff but still some inefficiency. Our initial server had a very hard time understanding what we were ordering. Nevertheless the order came out ok. Some of the dishes were surprisingly sweet. None of the flavors were really on target. It didn't come with the traditional raita but with "biryani sauce" which didn't add any flavor! Chicken rogan ghosh seemed like a totally different dish. While visiting Fort William, I didn't see the actual fort but I did find some really awesome Indian food. Our little group had the entire place to ourselves. I ordered some garlic naan and the Balti chicken tikka. I know, I said I was tired of chicken by now but it's Indian food. The service was a little slow so we ordered drinks. I ordered a Disaronno and some still water. I should have asked for tap but ended up paying for a bottle of still. No matter. The food arrive shortly after and it was delicious. After days of having somewhat bland English/Scottish fare, I was finally able to have something spicy. You can tell that each of the items were made to order, which was reassuring. Prices were reasonable. The bathrooms have zero heat in them. It feels like you're in an icebox and that's not a good thing. This is probably our worst experience ever. There was a long wait and they took our names down. Looks like everyone else who came after us were given a table but not us. Finally after 1 hr wait we got a table. It felt like we were given a table after all the "white" people were gone off - because we had a kid or maybe because we are Indians?!! We could clearly see the discrimination as the white people were being catered to but no one even came upto our table unless called. After that we got food that we didn't order and to top it all up- we got a dish that read as mild to medium spicy but we got it as extremely spicy!!!! Our Indian tastes bud too couldn't handle that !! Extremely rude staff who didn't bother even coming to our table. Really horrible place and horrible service. read more

this is probably the worst Indian restaurant that I have eaten at. Rude staff, bland food and an interior that looks like a shady night club, difficult to decide what is worst thing about this place but in the end nothing can beat the rude staff. There were two waiters who probably didn't like Indian folks eating at an Indian restaurant. Right off the bat, they didnt want to seat us to our requested seat even though the whole restaurant was literally empty (no other person eating here in the middle of afternoon should have been a sign). Simple requests and questions were answered in a rude manner and we didn't feel welcome even for a second while we were there. Please save yourself some money, stay hungry if you have to, but avoid going to this trashcan as an excuse to eat. read more

Place is nice but EXTREMELY busy with not enough staff. If you looking for Indian food then go here cause it's the only Indian Resturant in Fort William, Scotland. Haha. Well, they get more than one star because they're the only restaurant in town that seemed to actually put your name on a list for a table if they're full. Several other places just said "No" or "Try back later," and I really don't think they were booked through the night full of reservations. But they only get two stars because the food was mediocre and the service was awful. I appreciate that they had some varieties of Indian food I'd never had before, but they didn't turn out particularly flavorful. As for the service, the waiter said "are you ready to order?" We said "yes," and he proceeded to walk over to the table next to us, take their order, and not take ours until I full on two-arms-waiving-over-my-head flagged him down like I was trying to alert the rescue plane from a deserted island. Dont let the outside fool you...on a Sunday night we were here arnd 8pm and from the outside it looked deserted.But we still took the chance and went in hoping against hope for some good flavorful indian fare...we were not disappointed. The chicken aam achari was excellent and the lamb rogan ghosh very close. My sleeping tastes buds woke up on the first bite! Service is slow but kind...so give yourselves time to enjoy the food and amazing views here. An indian restaurant with an interior that looks like a night club. Interior is modern and the place is quite big but the food and service is just "ok" despite it not being especially busy. Nothing is bad, it is just nothing that does add any kind of "oh, nice" feeling (unless you love the interior decoration genre "indian restaurant/night club mix"). Not sure if it is the size that makes both the food and service rather bland and not at all personal, but personally I wouldn't really go here again unless I was craving indian food and had no other options. read more

great meal after a long walk through the west highland way. this is better than anything you can find on the walk. food was flavorful. you could taste the different spices, textures and meats. Nann was light and crisped, not chewy and thick. I liked their biryani as the sauce has a lil kick to it. the food wasnt a glob of flavor of lesser indian places. they also had some more rare hot dishes that most indian places do not carry and it is in the middle of Fort William, and not London. service was attentive and the servers chit chatted with us. queue was fairly long as we had to wait 45 mins for a table for a sunday night. its ok, we just walked down the street for some cheap round drinks and came back and our table was ready. read more

I'm glad I came on here to look up where to eat in Fort William, instead of just settling for the nearest place to my hotel which my weary west highland walked legs wanted me to do. Quite a fancy setting, with a wonderful view if you can get near the windows. It was relatively quiet when I was there on a Thursday night. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had mushroom and vegetable pakora as a starter which was very good - the mushroom particularly. Two good sized vegetable curries for the main, which defeated us unfortunately. Would definitely recommend to anyone in Fort William - let's be honest there's not that much in the town so this is a gem worth walking off the pedestrianised bit of the high street for. read more

Horrible restaurant, horrible staff and worst food ever. I am a huge fan of Indian food and always try to find an Indian restaurant while traveling, even if the food is average. So i went to them despite bad reviews as they were the only Indian restaurant I could find in that area. But I can promise you, you would be better off without food than going to this place. Their food was horrible and unhygienic, I had upset stomach for next two days, the staff was so rude that it was difficult to sit there for the complete meal. They have a problem with Indians, they just don't attend them and give constant signs to leave. They will say no to every request and will to speak to you in the rudest manner ever. Ten minutes in this place will spoil your next ten days. It is that bad. Help yourself and don't go there especially if you are on vacation. It will just ruin your whole experience. read more

This was good...doesn't seem impressive from the main doors, but the dining area overlooks the loch. We had chicken korma and chicken garlic chili yummy-ness. Food was good except they actually gave me the wrong item. I ordered lamb but they gave me chicken and didn't even apologize. Then when the check came, the waiter thought it was the same price so I had to correct him. I agree with the other reviewers who said that the wait staff were not polite and were discourteous and unprofessional. The waiter never looked our way after serving us the food, even when I would try and flag him down. I would have to call out extremely loudly for him to come over. Meanwhile, he paid plenty of attention to the Indian couple who got there after us. I also asked him about dessert and he was very strange in his answers (Hard to explain what he did exactly but trust me, it was like he was high or something...) I thought maybe he was new but it turned out he's been there for 7 years (heard him saying it to the Indian couple). Overall, I was very unimpressed. read more
