I have tried this restaurant for Indian food several times and it is not good. They use fatty chicken thighs and the food is in general way too spicy (even when ordered mild). The management is not friendly or helpful and the wait staff is very over worked so the service is slow. It is a shame because there are not that many Indian restaurants in the area but this is one we will not try again. Three strikes and you are out. read more

We are visiting Pocono mountains and we stopped by at spice route . There was a wait time!! But IT WAS WORTH IT. We ordered veggie Manchurian and it was absolutely amazing .. so flavorful ! I have been wanting to try this restaurant for sometime but always found the look from the outside odd and the fact that they advertise Indian Chinese and Thai food seemed somewhat overzealous. However after entering, the restaurant is nice and has a green house on route 611 which had an airy feeling bad for all the traffic buzzing by. We ordered Thai food but being in the mood for some naan bread ordered that to have with a beer before the meal. The bread was burned and when I called the waiter over he argued with me that this is what it is supposed to look like and after some back-and-forth decided to take it back to the kitchen and bring me some more burned naan. Shortly after, another employee came to explain that this was the way this bread was served. I explained that I have had it many times over many years and was never served burned naan bread. Toasted yes burned no. Argued with, definitely not. I had lamb Penang curry. The meat was tough but incl nice cuts of lamb as opposed to the bone and grizzle served at the Indian restaurant in Tannersville. The curry was fair as unfortunately it was watered down flavor wise. They were nice vegetables included. The service was adequate and the price for two meals and the naan with no appetizer or dessert was $44. Had I not had two idiots telling me that naan is always served burned it might have been a better dining experience. We traveled to PA for family vacation and found this restaurant from yelp through good reviews. However, the service and the overall experience wasn't pleasant at all. The curry and Indian dishes don't come with rice (which in other restaurants Ive been to, it usually is part of the order) and if you don't add the rice w/ dish for one dollar when they asked, they will charge you 3 dollars for a separate order on rice later on. We requested service from our server and it always take forever or just straight up ignored. I also have never tasted water this horrible before, their tab water tastes so bad, and if you want to buy a bottle water it's an additional 6 dollars. Overall the whole dining experience was terrible and even though the food isn't too bad I didn't enjoy it. Just do take out if you really want to try the food here. read more

We went here seeing all the good reviews.. But it tirned out to be a completely bad experience. We ordered hakka noodles which were just ok.. the schezwan chicken in which, the chicken was very bad quality. It was very chewy and bad. The server was also very rude and did not give us place in desired place.. he told it was full, while all the time we were there, it remained completely empty. I am a huge fan of the indo-chinese fusion in general and Spicy Route is the bees knees, which is why they have been my go too since I moved to PA 2 years ago. So it only makes sense why I ordered their party trays for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's 2020/21. I have to say, their food is outstanding as usual, their hospitality impeccable and reasonable prices. If you are thinking about it then look no further, I promise you that you can't go wrong with any dish at Spice Route. They definitely have a life long customer right here. The best Indian food I've had in the area for a long time! Very nice atmosphere. Seating is a bit cramped, but the food makes up for it. We were at Great Wolf Lodge, and I wanted to try this place for lunch. It was a 20-minute drive, and the lunch portion was a bit small. Not the best Indian food I've had, but decent. I had about 6 pieces of chicken in my chicken tikka masala entree, and 1 small Samosa as the lunch appetizer. The sauce was not as creamy as I've had in other restaurants, which is ok. I chose naan (1 piece) instead of rice. It also came with 2 sauces, (red and green) and a small container of sweet rice dessert. With the distance to get there, and price for the small amount of food, I will not order from here again. read more

I've been to Spice Route 3 or 4 times now while traveling to Stroudsburg and it has always been a good experience. Great flavors, customer service, and variety are the keys to their success and why people keep returning. COVID restrictions have contactless pickup as an option which is amazing. I visited this resturant twice In NOVEMBER 2017, both times the staff barley spoke. Not really friendly. The food was good the first time but the waiter didn't ask me how I wanted the food cooked on the second visit. So the dish was cooked very mild, when I would have liked it spicy. Every other Indian restaurant I've been to always asked. So my advice is to remember to tell them how you like your dish cooked. And don't expect any conversation or smiles. read more

Highly recommend for both dine in and catering. The restaurant has plenty of space for large parties. We had our sons birthday catered from spice route - ordering was easy, the food was hot and ready on time as promised, and we got several compliments from our guests. We were staying at Kalahari Resort for a conference absolutely surrounded by overpriced, sub-par restaurants, at the resort and even in the area around it. After being so disappointed with food the first couple days, we drive a little further (only 15 minutes) and found this restaurant. HUGE menu, great service, big portions, spicy (if requested - we love it), and we loved every single thing we ordered (my husband eats meat and I'm a vegetarian and we both loved our appetizers and entrees). Delicious food, especially while still in the pandemic. We placed a takeout order and got vegetable samosas, goan fish curry, palak paneer and garlic naan. The samosas were great and not greasy, with a bit of a kick. The Fish curry has a wonderful spicy sauce that was perfect for dipping the naan, and we used the leftover rice and curry sauce to make a side dish later in the weekend. Worst possible seating service in east coast. We were a party of 5 including a kid and aged parents. They had a lot of open seating. They made us wait 10 mins before anyone talked to us. They mentioned that the kitchen is backed up and food will be 30 minute wait. I can understand that. But they refuse to seat us and ask us to stand for 30 mins. We mentioned multiple times that we can sit and wait to be served. But they refused to offer us a seating. No apologies ever. read more

What a great find in this area!!! We were visiting poconos just for a weekend get away and were craving Indian food!! Came across this restaurant and so glad that we made a stop for lunch. The menu was extensive with a lot of Indian, Chinese and Thai options. We ordered murgh tikka and chicken seekh kebabs from the grill section. Everything was so fresh and right off the grill! We ordered channa masala and butter chicken from the curry section and it was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed the food thoroughly and took gajar ka halwa in a to go box for dessert. My wife and I have been in love with Indian food for over fifty years and have eaten it all over the world in places like New York City, Los Angeles, and even on trips to India. We were in the Stroudsberg area for a wedding and decided on having an Indian lunch before the evening reception. The moment we entered we appreciated the warm ambiance and the staff greeted us promptly and professionally. All of that aside a big shout out to the kitchen chefs and staff. We were immediately impressed with the extra buttery and flaky samosa crust with a perfectly spiced filling. Even the two chutneys were exceptional. The bread, onion Kulcha was served hot and cooked to perfection. My favorite, Malai Kofta was great and my wife's favorite Matter Paneer was the best we've ever had. The Sikh gentleman whose name I did not get was great and Umesh was a gem. Went out of the way to tell the staff that we gave the entire experience - ambiance, service and food a 10 out of 10 and will be sure to return if we are back in the area. read more

Very mediocre food and rude customer service. We were a group of 9 and ordered maybe 15 different dishes. Nothing stood out as particularly good, except the bhel puri and chili garlic noodles. We previously ordered for takeout and last night enjoyed the warm ambience and excellent service indoors. The food is fantastic. We ordered Bhel Puri -a new one to us and a delightful combination of flavors and texture. For entrees we ordered Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Chattinad and Palek Paneer. And, Onion Kulcha. While ordering. we asked for a small reduction of the "heat" level and they complied. Dessert was another new dish to us -- Moong Dal Halwa --amazing. Spice Route is now a weekly treat for us. An unexpected surprise in the Poconos! Came here for rest and relaxation and this was a phenomenal find thanks to Yelp. Had Mutton Handi which was divine! I was here for my birthday lunch with my friends on Monday. I was craving Indo-Chinese food and one of our friends suggested this restaurant after looking up on the web. I had high hopes from the restaurant but was disappointed. The food was fine. Wouldn't recommend the seafood, it was stale. But this review is specifically regarding the wait staff. Our server was unimaginably rude to us. The moment we entered, we felt uninvited. He spoke to us very rudely, did not help us when we asked a question regarding an item on the menu and when we greeted him goodbye, he just grunted! He also kept staring at us, which made me feel very uncomfortable. This was the worst service I have ever received in any restaurant. Zero for the service and 3 for the food. read more
