The food was really tasty and the service was pretty great. They welcomed us by asking for everyone's allergies. My girlfriend's daughter mentioned a shrimp allergy so they made sure to cook her French fries in fresh oil. The only downside was that splitting the bill took a while and we thought ordered a full bottle of wine but were just served a couple glasses (forgot to check to see which they charged us for). I was seeking a nice restaurant to eat at for my stay in Punta Mita. Spice Market came highly rated (even on Trip Advisor) so i made my reservation. I arrived promptly at 6pm when they opened and was told by Suzy (the hostess), they were waiting for me! She offered many seating options (in/outside, table, or booth) which I appreciated. I settled on a small table outside with a pool and ocean view. She asked if I had food allergies and let me know my server Ricardo was OTW. I had looked over the menu already so I knew I wanted the Miso glazed Seabass, fried rice, and spring rolls. All was great however I thought the sea bass would really have a GLAZE (like at Truluck's), but it didn't an had a kick to it. I still enjoyed it and left full. I wouldn't mind returning but I'd sit inside and it would be nice to have not so many people greet my table. Ricardo was there each and ever time a coarse or drink came to the table. Then I had a "presenter" Victor, who placed and described each coarse as well as Veronica who assisted Ricardo and bagged my meal. Plus another gentleman who refilled my water. Geez!I guess being overly taken care of is better than no one at all! Word to the wise, don't consider the prices of each item when budgeting for your meal if looking on Open Table. Diego greeted us as soon as we arrived for our special dinner at the Spice Market. He had us at hello! We loved every minute of your visit here. The food was delicious, the margaritas were awesome... I had the spicy margarita and my brother had the ginger margarita and both were tasty. The sushi was incredibly fresh and we loved every bite. First off, it's indoor/outdoor so bring some bug repellent! Menu is limited right now because of COVID and also accessible via QR code, not a paper menu. They recommend eating "family style" so we all ordered what we wanted and then shared once it arrived. They tell you up front that the food comes out as it's ready. It's a nice concept in theory but some of our party was left with no food (of their own) for 30-45 minutes. Let's start with the good - Phenomenal spring rolls, SPICY black pepper shrimp, perfectly crispy fried calamari, delicious New York strip, and also perfectly cooked baby corn and broccoli. The rest, just okay - chargrilled chicken (basically burnt, covered in citrus), fried rice (hardly any flavor, only vegetable included was onion), chicken satay (also hardly any flavor), pork belly and chicken buns (way too much bread, hardly any meat inside). As much as it pains me to say it, their "famous" coconut cake was not great. There's some sort of herby flavor baked in the green cake, but the green ice cream was good. It didn't seem at all like a coconut cake. Lastly, the drinks are expensive and are 90% ice, served in a cute tiki cup. Skip them! The view though, FABULOUS. This place is especially nice after a week of eating Mexican food when you're wanting something different. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here our first night of our vacation staying at the W. Our servers, Veronica and Allen, were very attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. The bar didn't have tamarind so she went to another bar in the hotel to get us tamarind margaritas. All the food had excellent flavor. Our family had a fantastic dinner experience here. Diego, our waitperson and guide, was awesome. When he learned we spoke "un poquito español," he spoke primarily Spanish, so we could practice. His suggestions on everything were spot on: jengibre margaritas were amazing, the sashimi & tuna tostada starters also incredible. Even the "mundane" items like edamame had a unique flair & were delicious. I recommend the fideos borrachos, but we ordered several entrees and all were delicious. Restaurant is indoors/outdoors chalk full of mosquitos and they offered us repellent but both containers were empty so we waited 15 min for more as we were eaten alive. After 20 min asked for waters. Then had to remind them we already ordered "house" water once they brought designer water. Waiter took order but kept asking "what did you order before ________" or "what did your order, I missed something ." Food was marginal, at best. See pics of "charred chicken." Charred indeed - beyond recognition. The main flavor was salt. Charred chicken and coconut sticky rice were sent back both were so bad. Fish and chips was dry as the Sahara. Calamari salad was disgusting. Everything highly salted. Watered down drinks. Had no Tito's even though it was listed on drink menu. Service was never around. Never cleared dirty plates or empty water bottles and cocktails - they left for us to refill our own glasses. Brought wrong check. Incorrect items. Swiped credit card for wrong bill. We ate here a couple times on our trip to punta de mita...Both times we found the food so over spiced that some dishes we uneatable...The assorted sashimi was in fact two pieces of tuna with mayonnaise on a piece of deep fried rice...Neither assorted or sashimi....We were not alone as we witnessed the surrounding tables were also returning dishes...We actually like spicy food, but when the main ingredients are undistinguishable it is simply too much spice...The staff just cleared our uneaten dishes and have a check for without any apologies for the bad/uneaten food...Sorry to say do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else read more

Not sure why this place has negative reviews. We had the most delicious dinner tonight and service was excellent too. Highlights were the black peppered shrimp, the curry noodles and the green beans. Our kids were served way after the parents were done on top of that they messed up my daughter's order of butter pasta and brought our tomato sauce pasta. They took another 30 mins to bring out the correct order - my 4 year old is luckily pretty mellow but she looked like she was ready to cry as everyone else got their dishes while she patiently and hungrily waited. How long does it take to cook pasta?! Our shared beef stir fry was yummy but nothing to shout about and the rice served was in such small portions we had to order extras. I would say the only person was highly pleased was the teenager. He ordered the all-you-can-eat dim sum menu and said everything was excellent. It cost an arm and a leg but since he ate it all it was well worth it for him. Other comments are that service was slow in general for all the food and we had to ask to have our water filled.
