Visiting from Los Angeles California we had been in London, France, and now Italy for 3 weeks. We had dined at Deshoom in London per multiple recommendations as well as a local resident. After having way too much Italian food we needed some Asian cuisine and found Spice India off a foodie review blog. Thanks krona food is top 3 cuisine by type for us. Upon entering Spice India we were greeted with a smile from Komal at the front reception desk. We came to find out Komal is one of the family that owns this restaurant. This restaurant is spotless and very clean. Almost all of the guests are Asian or Indian so you know they are very particular about their food. We ordered Palak Pakora and Vegetable Samosa for appetizer and then Aloo Gobi, Chicken Tandoori, and Chicken Tiki Masala (CTM), garlic Naan, and white rice. They start off with an amazing yogurt, spicy pickled vegetable dish, and wonton chips to snack on. When the food came out we were very impressed at how fresh and hot the food was. The kitchen served us as the food was prepared and ready so we didn't feel rushed to eat fast. The food quality, taste, and portion sizes were 10/10. We loved every bite and couldn't even finish the food even though we wanted to eat every last bite. If this restaurant were in Los Angeles California we would eat here weekly if not bi weekly. How can you communicate how special a place is with so few words? It's like seeing the Pisa and how impressive this structure is in person, what they say is pictures does not do it justice. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking Indian cuisine. LOVE LOVE LOVE Spice Indian!! Plan to come back before we leave for Rome and Naples.

Indian food done and served right. It's really hard to find a bad place to eat in Florence - for Italian food of course - but same can't be said for non-Italian food. The opportunity cost of not going Italian was really high and Gandhi came through. Their breads and the entrees were absolutely perfect. Serving portions were moderate to medium and the prices seemed right. Modest interior decor really hides a fairly seasoned and talented kitchen staff. Strongly recommend their breads and yellow lentils. They place was humming with patrons - a good indication of their popularity.

my favorite meal: lamb korma with lemon rice and a side of garlic naan

One of my favorite restaurants in Florence. Hot take, I know, stay with me. After eating my fair share of Italian cuisine, my heart yearned for something more...spice. Gandhi (the restaurant) knocked on the carb barricades of my heart with love and lamb korma in hand, ready to bring my senses back to life...I've since been there 4 more times and have formed a somewhat friendship with Preet, the best worker at the joint. She always greets me with the biggest smile and after my meal, when I tell her I am too full for dessert, she always brings me something sweet anyway.

Chicken Tikka Masala, Karahi Gosh, Garlic Naan & Mango Lassi

One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to- honestly surprised to have found it in Florence! Service is amazing and food is on point. I got the Karahi Chicken & Chicken Tikka Masala with Garlic Naan. The Mango Lassi was REALLY GOOD (special touch: add ice for it to chill). The Masala chai I wasn't a fan of- tasted a bit like condensed milk, but that's just my personal preference. Highly recommend, especially if you want to try something other than pasta & pizza in Italy!

Excellent food, best Indian food in Europe, the tandoori chicken was just like in india, chole peshawri, palak paneer all amazing. Great hospitality and service. Plain Nan and stuffed Nan's also were quite well prepared. Asked them to customize my Indian chai with ginger and cardamom and they made it just like india. Highly recommended!

It was modernly chic but didn't feel snooty. The lighted tree was a nice touch to the overall decor. Service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, and the food came out at a good pace. Appreciated how the server, who took our dishes away, asked how each one was like we were comparing notes with his favorites. I will go as far as saying that I had the best meal during my entire Italy trip. The food was excellent from front to back. I had the pleasure of trying the following: - Cuttlefish Ink Tagliatella - Molloscs and crustaceans on potato cream and scorpion fish broth - Saffron potato tortelli - Codfish - 24hr short ribs - Triple Zuppa Inglese - Dark chocolate mousse, vanilla crumble with hazelnut chantilly and passionfruit ice cream There was no dish that I didn't like, and each one kept getting better than the next. The saffron potato tortelli and 24hr short ribs were the best of them all.

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

From the outside, it looks like a grand, iron-and-glass structure typical of European markets; inside, it opens into a bustling, multi-level space filled with food vendors, communal tables, and constant movement. The vibe is energetic, social, and slightly chaotic in a fun way - perfect for grazing, group dining, or trying multiple cuisines in one visit (from Italian to American to Mexican!). We stopped in for a quick lunch at around 2pm on a Wednesday; there was plenty of seating at high-top tables, and QR codes on paper menus make it easy to explore all the different food vendor options. It's also a fun activity to peruse the market, taking in different sights, smells, and flavors. All of us ended up opting for Schiacciatas (large Italian sandwiches that are a staple in Florence) from Massimiliano Parri, which all ended up ranging from €10-12, depending on toppings - yes, it's more expensive than what you'd get from a traditional schiacciateria, but you're also paying for the market's location and convenience. We appreciated the fact that they shave the meat right in front of you! My schiacciata came with freshly shaved ham atop crusty white bread, slathered with burrata cheese, and sprinkled with arugula and figs (I opted for no additional olive oil, since I found the ham quite rich already). I loved the contrast of textures and flavors, though I will say that the bread ended up cutting the roof of my mouth! All in all, Mercato Centrale is a bit touristy, but still miles better (and cheaper) than most "Italian" sandwich places you'd find in the US (pro tip: save your receipt for free use of their bathrooms). The variety can't be beaten, prices are reasonable for a central market, and it's steps from some of Florence's most iconic spots.
