This is definitely one of the nicer, well stocked, friendly Micahels store out there. I grew up in…read morethe Wilkes-Barre area, but just moved back after not being here for 15 years. 12 of those years were in Philadelphia. At most Michael's stores in the city, they couldn't give a squirrel's fuzzy nut what you are looking for, or whether or not it will ever be carried, or restocked. They have a company rule about greeting customers, but hate doing it. Its the city. Its loud, its full of cameras and employees leering at you when you look at spray paint locked up in a case, the lines are long, employees fed up with demanding customers using them as gophers, etc.
Perhaps its just being back in the Valley, but the employees at Michaels are always cheerful, or at least not miserable. They always have the canvas, paint, finishes, brushes and other things I need for my profession. They also have good creative gifts for my 8 yr old who is an aspiring talent of her own.
My only negative remarks are about the chain in general, not this location. They stopped their rewards card program, and it was never that good anyway. All they gave you after spending $250.00 in their store is a $5.00 off discount applied to your card, that needed to be used in the next 3 days. Those are not rewards. Those are ploys to get you to come buy more stuff.
I also wish they wouldnt be a part of something that is killing American business. Pre-fabricated, Chinese, mass produced print art. Prints made to look like original paintings, cheap framing brick-a-brack, holiday crap made by 8 yr olds in sweat shops. Come on Michaels, you're an ART STORE. At least TRY and have some sympathy and support for the people who buy your art supplies, and USED to be the craftsmen that made a living producing those things by hand, and with love. Guess this hippie is barking up the wrong tree.
